Bruins' Eriksson Could Move To First Line

News: With Jarome Iginla having signed with the Avs, Loui Eriksson is viewed as the top candidate to move up to the Bruins' first line along with Milan Lucic and David Krejci, the Boston Globe reports.
Analysis: Injuries slowed Loui Eriksson in his first season with Boston, with the winger recording modest totals of 10 goals and 37 points in 61 games. While he's not the shooter Iginla is, Eriksson is a savvy and skilled player who should mesh well with the playmaking Krejci and bruising Lucic. Moving up to the first line would no doubt be a major boost to Eriksson's fantasy value, though it would of course create a void on the Bruins' third line.

Boston's Eriksson: Two-Point Night

News: Loui Eriksson, who has had a relatively quiet postseason, scored a goal and added an assist in Saturday's win over the Canadiens. He now has five points, including two goals, in 10 games.
Analysis: Honestly, we expected a bit more to this point, but perhaps this two-point effort is the start of something nice.

Bruins' Eriksson Closes Out On Good Note

News: Loui Eriksson notched a minus-2 rating but contributed a goal and an assist in Sunday's loss to New Jersey.
Analysis: Perhaps this little outburst to end the regular season is good news for head coach Claude Julien and his heavily favored playoff-bound Bruins. Previously a near-30 goal-scorer, Loui Eriksson just barely eeks out a 10-goal (37 points) campaign in his first season with Boston.

Bruins' Eriksson Tallies On Tuesday

News: Loui Eriksson scored a goal in Tuesday's shootout loss to the Wild.
Analysis: With the Bruins electing to rest center David Krejci, Loui Eriksson skated with Milan Lucic and Carl Soderberg on Tuesday, while also seeing 3:48 worth of power play ice time. With three games remaining on their regular season slate, look for the Bruins to continue to selectively rest key players (a group that might include Eriksson) in advance of the playoffs.

Opportunity Knocks For Bruins' Eriksson

News: With Jarome Iginla still out, Loui Eriksson is on track to continue to skate with Milan Lucic and David Krejci on Tuesday against the Wild.
Analysis: Loui Eriksson picked up four helpers while skating on the B's top line (featuring Lucic and Krejci) against the Flyers on Saturday, so he's definitely worth a shot in daily formats Tuesday, given that outcome.

Bruins' Eriksson Tallies Four Helpers

News: Loui Eriksson assisted on four goals in Saturday's 5-2 win over the Flyers.
Analysis: With Jarome Iginla sitting out for the second time in three games, Loui Eriksson saw duty on the Bruins' top line and proved to be a seamless fit. Should Iginla be sidelined for further contests, Eriksson's promotion to the top line would make him an interesting commodity in just about any fantasy format.

Bruins' Eriksson Ends Goal Drought

News: Loui Eriksson scored his seventh goal of the year in Thursday's win over the Capitals.
Analysis: Loui Eriksson hadn't found twine since back on Jan. 27, going nine games without a goal between then and Thursday. However, he did collect six assists in that span, so with eight points in his last 11 games, he's actually been relatively productive of late -- at least, compared to the rest of this season.

Bruins' Eriksson Good To Go

News: Coach Claude Julien said that Loui Eriksson (heel) is good to go for Thursday's game against the Capitals
Analysis: Loui Eriksson is thus in line to return to the B's third line Thursday, which also includes Chris Kelly and Carl Soderberg. According to WEEI.com, the minor issue that kept Eriksson out of the team's lineup Tuesday was a heel infection. "Very minor heel injury," GM Peter Chiarelli confirmed. "A little infection in the heel that got aggravated when he put his heel in the boot."

Bruins' Eriksson Dealing With Minor Heel Issue

News: According to general manager Peter Chiarelli, Loui Eriksson was kept off the ice Tuesday and Wednesday due to a "very minor heel issue."
Analysis: Meanwhile, Loui Eriksson is expected back in the Bruins' lineup Thursday against the Capitals, barring any unforeseen setbacks.

Bruins' Eriksson Expected Back Thursday

News: Loui Eriksson, who is dealing with a minor issue, is expected back in the Bruins' lineup Thursday against the Capitals.
Analysis: Loui Eriksson missed Tuesday's game against the Panthers, with Jordan Caron filling in for him on the B's third line, but barring something unexpected, he's in line to return to action Thursday.

Bruins' Eriksson Out For Tuesday's Game

News: Coach Claude Julien indicated that Loui Eriksson has a "minor issue" that will sideline him Tuesday against the Panthers.
Analysis: The report adds that Loui Eriksson is expected back in the B's lineup Thursday against the Capitals. Meanwhile, Jordan Caron will fill in for Eriksson on the team's third line Tuesday night.

Bruins' Eriksson Skips Tuesday Morning Skate

News: Loui Eriksson (unspecified issue) was not on the ice for Tuesday's morning skate.
Analysis: No word yet on the reason for his absence, but with Loui Eriksson not on the ice Tuesday, Jordan Caron filled in on the B's third line at morning skate.

Bruins' Eriksson Notches Two Assists Sunday

News: Loui Eriksson collected two assists in Sunday's win over the Rangers.
Analysis: The second of Loui Eriksson's assists came while the Bruins were shorthanded, with Gregory Campbell capitalizing with the goal to give Boston a 4-2 lead. Concussion woes have been an unwelcome disruption to Eriksson's first season in Beantown, but he's been reasonably productive when healthy, with 22 points and a plus-11 rating over 40 games.

Bruins' Eriksson Nets Goal For Sweden

News: Loui Eriksson scored a second period goal to tie the score in Friday's win over Finland.
Analysis: Loui Eriksson has been working on what could be considered the second line for Sweden in the Olympics. He will look to help Sweden on Sunday when it faces Canada in the gold medal game.

Bruins' Eriksson Set To Play Saturday

News: Loui Eriksson (face) will play Saturday against the Senators, Amalie Benjamin of the Boston Globe reports.
Analysis: Loui Eriksson missed Friday's practice for dental work after he took a high stick to the mouth in Thursday's overtime loss to the Blues. Now that he's all patched up, he'll be back on his usual spot on the third line for the Bruins before heading off to Russia to play for the Swedish team in the Winter Olympics.

Bruins' Eriksson Misses Practice Friday

News: Loui Eriksson (face) did not practice Friday.
Analysis: A high stick from the Blues' Maxim Lapierre caught Loui Eriksson in the face Thursday, and while he was able to finish out the game, he was not present at Friday's skate. Still, it seems likely he'll tough it out for Saturday's game against Ottawa, as he did against St. Louis.

Bruins' Eriksson Picks Up The Pace

News: Loui Eriksson notched an assist in Thursday's 4-1 loss to Montreal.
Analysis: Loui Eriksson, who continues to skate on Boston's third line, currently has a three-game point-scoring streak, which is in itself a modest roll, but the important thing to note is that his play since returning to the B's lineup on Jan. 11 (following his second concussion of the season) has picked up of late. "I just hadn't played in a while, so it was just the timing and being able to handle the speed of the game," Eriksson noted of his progression since his return. "It will come. The games I've played, the more confident I'm getting. It's a good feeling."

Bruins' Eriksson Set To Play Saturday

News: Coach Claude Julien said that Loui Eriksson (concussion) is ready to play and is expected to be in the lineup Saturday.
Analysis: The Bruins probably will wait until closer to game time to activate Loui Eriksson from injured reserve, but barring a last-minute setback, fantasy owners can probably feel comfortable inserting him in their lineups. He's expected to skate on the third line with Carl Soderberg and Ryan Spooner in his return.

Bruins' Eriksson A Full-Go At Morning Skate

News: Loui Eriksson (concussion) was a full participant in Saturday's morning skate.
Analysis: Though the Bruins are still listing the forward as questionable for Saturday's tilt with the Sharks, his involvement at morning skate suggests there's a better chance than not that he'll be back in the lineup for the first time since Dec. 7. Official word on his status for the game should come down during pregame warmups. Loui Eriksson took part in all line rushes with third-liners Carl Soderberg and Ryan Spooner during the morning session.

Eriksson's Assist Helps Boston Beat SJ

News: In his first action in five weeks, Loui Eriksson assisted on the game's lone goal Saturday as Boston stole a win in San Jose.
Analysis: While the temptation is to recommend that you activate him immediately, we suggest that you monitor this carefully. The team handled his concussion recovery conservatively, and he skated just 13:18 in 14 shifts Saturday.

Bruins' Eriksson Activated Saturday

News: Loui Eriksson (concussion) has been activated from injured reserve for Saturday's game in San Jose, NESN reports.
Analysis: As expected, Loui Eriksson, who has 14 points in 24 games, will return to the ice Saturday. He's been out since Dec. 7 and may need some time to shake off the rust, though the Bruins did seem to take a conservative approach with his recovery. In a corresponding move, Justin Florek was reassigned to AHL Providence.

Bruins' Eriksson May Play Saturday

News: Loui Eriksson (concussion) is considered questionable for Saturday night's game against the Sharks, the Boston Globe reports. "He's getting closer, but there's more to it than just saying, ‘OK, you're physically ready,'" coach Claude Julien noted of Eriksson. "We've got to make sure that in his mind he's ready to go."
Analysis: For his part, Loui Eriksson appears poised to return, but a final decision on his Saturday status has yet to be made. If he does rejoin the B's lineup, it appears as though he'll open up on the team's third line, skating with Ryan Spooner and Carl Soderberg.

Bruins' Eriksson Hopes To Play Saturday

News: Loui Eriksson (concussion) is aiming to return to action Saturday against the Sharks, the Boston Herald reports. "I would think so," Eriksson said regarding his chances of suiting up Saturday. "We'll see. I don't know exactly what they're thinking, but I would hope (Saturday)."
Analysis: Loui Eriksson -- who last played on Dec. 7 -- has recorded five goals and 14 points in the 24 games that he has suited up in to date. While the Bruins' balanced attack up front limits his scoring upside somewhat, Eriksson -- who carries a plus-8 rating -- retains utility in deeper formats.

Bruins' Eriksson Nears Return

News: While Loui Eriksson (concussion) is unlikely to play in Thursday's game against the Kings, the Boston Herald suggests that the winger has a decent shot to suit up Saturday against the Sharks. "I don't think (it will be) very long," coach Claude Julien noted with regard to Eriksson's potential return. "I'd say probably doubtful for (Thursday). It's his first day with contact. Having been through what's he's been through, you don't want to rush him."
Analysis: Either way, Loui Eriksson -- who last played on Dec. 7 -- has been cleared for contact and practiced fully Wednesday, both of which were major steps toward his eventual return to game action.

Bruins' Eriksson Sheds No-Contact Jersey

News: Loui Eriksson (concussion) was in a full-contact jersey during Wednesday's practice, Amalie Benjamin of the Boston Globe reports.
Analysis: It appears Loui Eriksson is nearing the finish line in his recovery for a concussion, as full practices are generally the final barrier to cross for players as they navigate through the league's protocol. Because Eriksson hasn't played for over a month, he'll likely need a few practices to get his conditioning up to par, but it's possible he returns to action before the weekend is out.
