Sabres' Meszaros Pots Two Goals In Loss

News: Andrej Meszaros potted a pair of goals and fired four shots on goal in Saturday's loss to Colorado.
Analysis: That's five goals and 11 points in 53 games for Andrej Meszaros, who's been averaging 17:38 of ice time. Don't expect much more production from the 29-year-old, as he had previously gone through a nine-game pointless drought and only has 10 shots on goal in his last nine games.

Sabres' Meszaros (Hand) To Play Friday

News: Andrej Meszaros (hand) will play in Friday's game against the Devils.
Analysis: Andrej Meszaros returned to practice Thursday, after missing games on Monday and Tuesday. He figures to skate alongside Nikita Zadorov on the second defensive pairing, while fellow blueliner Zach Bogosian (lower body) will miss at least one more game. Meszaros has played much better compared to the beginning of the season but still has relatively low fantasy value. It remains to be seen if his injured hand will affect his play but the Devils shouldn't be a daunting challenge. Chad Ruhwedel is expected to be re-assigned to AHL Rochester.

Sabres' Meszaros Practices Thursday

News: Andrej Meszaros (hand) took part in Thursday's practice, Bill Hoppe of the Olean Times Herald reports.
Analysis: Andrej Meszaros' participation in practice gives him a shot at playing Friday against the Devils, but the team hasn't provided an official ruling on his status just yet. The rearguard has missed the Sabres' last two games due to the injury.

Sabres' Meszaros Set To Sit Out Another

News: Coach Ted Nolan indicated Monday that Andrej Meszaros (hand) could be forced to "miss a few games" due to his injury.
Analysis: Andrej Meszaros ended up sitting out Monday's game against the Capitals, and it's probably safe to rule him out for at least Tuesday's contest against the Bruins as well. The Sabres also figure to be without Zach Bogosian (lower body) on Tuesday, paving the way for AHL call-up Chad Ruhwedel to enter the lineup yet again.

Sabres' Meszaros Out Monday

News: Andrej Meszaros (hand) won't play Monday against the Caps.
Analysis: With both Andrej Meszaros and Zach Bogosian sidelined, look for the Sabres to recall a blueliner in advance of Monday's contest.

Sabres' Meszaros Hurts Hand

News: Andrej Meszaros suffered a hand injury Monday morning, reports Bill Hoppe of the Olean Times Herald.
Analysis: The extent of Andrej Meszaros' injury is still unknown, but it's believed to be a aggravated injury. Chad Ruhwedel is reportedly being called up, which means Meszaros is expected to miss at least a game or two. Meszaros has been a marginal player for the Sabres this season, sometimes sitting as a healthy scratch, and has nine points in 48 games so far. Last Saturday against Washington, Meszaros left the game early after taking a shot from Brooks Laich, but did not miss any games, but it looks like he'll be missing Monday's re-match against Washington.

Sabres' Meszaros Set To Play

News: Based on warmups, Andrej Meszaros (upper body) is in line to play Wednesday against the Maple Leafs.
Analysis: With both Andrej Meszaros (who has nine points in 46 games to date) and Zach Bogosian in line to suit up Wednesday, Andre Benoit looks set to be the Sabres' scratch on defense for the contest.

Sabres' Meszaros Could Play Wednesday

News: Andrej Meszaros (upper body) participated in the Sabres' morning skate and could be in the lineup Wednesday against the Maple Leafs.
Analysis: While an injured player's participation in morning skate is normally an indicator that he'll play, coach Ted Nolan wouldn't firmly commit to Andrej Meszaros being in the lineup. Instead, with Zach Bogosian (lower body) also a bit banged up, the Sabres will have seven defensemen take part in pregame warmups. Nolan said he would let the six healthiest defensemen play, and there's no guarantee that Meszaros will be among that group. His status should be known one way or the other by the conclusion of the warmup.

Sabres' Meszaros Might Return Sooner Than Expected

News: Maestros, who suffered an upper-body injury in Saturday's loss to the Capitals, practiced fully Tuesday and says he's ready to go Wednesday when the Sabres play in Toronto, The Buffalo News reports.
Analysis: Andrej Meszaros was considered unlikely to play Wednesday, but apparently he's rallied and sounds like he'll return earlier than expected. We'll note that coach Ted Nolan hasn't signed off yet, so we'll wait for official word from the team when they set Wednesday's blue line pairings following the morning skate.

Sabres' Meszaros Will Miss Next Game

News: Andrej Meszaros, who suffered an upper-body injury Saturday, will not play Wednesday against Toronto, reports Paul Hamilton of WGR 550.
Analysis: The Sabres don't play the Leafs until Wednesday, which means that Andrej Meszaros' injury is serious enough that he's already been ruled out. The veteran defenseman played just 3:05 against Washington on Saturday before leaving the game early and there is no timetable for his return or any more detailed information on his injury. Nikita Zadorov, a healthy scratch Saturday, will likely step in.

Sabres' Meszaros Exits With Upper-Body Injury

News: Head coach Ted Nolan said Andrej Meszaros "could miss a little while" with the upper-body injury he suffered Saturday night, the Olean Times Herald reports.
Analysis: Nolan also said he doesn't think Andrej Meszaros will be out "too long," so his expected return date is rather vague. His injury will likely pave the way for Nikita Zadorov, who served as a healthy scratch Saturday, to rejoin the lineup.

Sabres' Meszaros Exits With Upper-Body Injury

News: Andrej Meszaros suffered an upper-body injury in Saturday's game against the Capitals and will not return.
Analysis: Andrej Meszaros suffered the injury when he was struck by a shot off the stick of Washington's Brooks Laich. Details of the setback are uncertain, so t remains to be seen if it will cost Meszaros any further action.

Goals In Back-To-Back Games For Sabres' Meszaros

News: Andrej Meszaros bagged a goal, spent two minutes in the penalty box, and submitted a plus-2 rating in Saturday's 5-3 loss to the Panthers.
Analysis: Andrej Meszaros has points in three straight and goals in back-to-back games, a surprising development after he found the net just once in his first 41 games with the Sabres. The blueliner was a reasonably prized commodity at the trade deadline last season, but his downturn in performance since joining the Sabres probably won't allow him to generate much interest from other teams leading up to Monday's deadline.

Sabres Dress Meszaros Tuesday

News: Andrej Meszaros will play Tuesday against Ottawa, reports Mike Harrington of The Buffalo News.
Analysis: After sitting for four straight games, Andrej Meszaros will draw in for Tyson Strachan. Meszaros has been horrendous all season but head coach Ted Nolan will want to keep his veterans somewhat fresh. The hope is that dressing Meszaros against the team that drafted him will provide some extra motivation. Don't get your hopes up, though. Meszaros has six points in 34 games this season and can't even maintain a spot on one of the worst blue lines in the league. He has very little value in fantasy and may very well be forced to finish his career in Europe before long.

Sabres Scratch Meszaros Against Blues

News: Andrej Meszaros will sit for the second straight game Thursday against St. Louis, reports The Buffalo News.
Analysis: Andrej Meszaros didn't play in Montreal and will sit again as a healthy scratch against St. Louis. The 29-year-old has become a marginal defenseman in recent years, and despite his experience, head coach Ted Nolan seems to have seen enough. Meszaros's defensive play has been poor all season, and he has just six points in 34 games. In short, he's in the midst of the worst season of his career. The trade deadline is approaching and he may be dangled as trade bait, but his value isn't very high at the moment. Meszaros will sit out Thursday's game alongside Nikita Zadorov, with Tyson Strachan and Andre Benoit in their places.

Sabres' Meszaros Scores In Loss

News: Andrej Meszaros scored on his only shot in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Bruins.
Analysis: It's Andrej Meszaros' first goal of the season, and the blueliner now has five points through 22 games. His playing time has been limited this season between injuries and being a healthy scratched, so the 29-year-old doesn't have a ton of fantasy value.

Sabres' Meszaros Returns Monday

News: Andrej Meszaros (head) was on the ice for Monday's victory over the Senators, contributing an assist, three hits, two blocks and two PIM in his 14:52 of ice time.
Analysis: The blueliner's status was in peril entering the match after he sustained an apparent head injury over the weekend, but he avoided missing any time -- a surprising development considering that Andrej Meszaros had dealt with a concussion earlier this month. With Mike Weber likely out until Christmastime and Josh Gorges also dealing with an injury, Meszaros could hang onto a regular role in the lineup for the next handful of games.

Apparent Head Injury for Sabres' Meszaros

News: Andrej Meszaros suffered an apparent head injury in Saturday's win over the Panthers and will not play Monday against Ottawa, the Olean Times Herald's Bill Hoppe reports.
Analysis: Andrej Meszaros will undergo further evaluation to determine the extent of the injury, which is particularly worrisome given his recent concussion. For now, he is day-to-day.

Sabres' Meszaros: (Concussion) A Healthy Scratch

News: Andrej Meszaros (concussion) has been cleared to play Thursday against the Flames, but will serve as a healthy scratch.
Analysis: Andrej Meszaros was able to get in a full practice Wednesday to erase any concerns about his health, but he hadn't impressed coach Ted Nolan with his performance this season prior to suffering the head injury. He'll likely get an opportunity in the next handful of case to stake his claim to a regular spot in the lineup, though it's unlikely to yield any meaningful fantasy production.

Sabres' Meszaros Practices Fully

News: Andrej Meszaros (concussion) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice, Bill Hoppe of the Olean Times Herald reports.
Analysis: Andrej Meszaros had been limited to non-contact work the last couple of days, but his full participation in practice suggests that a return may be on the horizon. He'll have a shot at suiting up Thursday against the Flames if he endures no further concussion symptoms prior to the Sabres' gameday skate.

Sabres' Meszaros Practicing Without Contact

News: Andrej Meszaros (concussion) was on the ice for practice Monday wearing a non-contact jersey, reports the Times Herald's Bill Hoppe.
Analysis: He's sat out four consecutive games since suffering the injury Nov. 28 against Montreal, but appears to be approaching a return. Once he gets a full-contact practice in, Andrej Meszaros should get back into game action. Head coach Ted Nolan said there is no timetable for Meszaro's return.

Sabres' Meszaros Has Concussion

News: Andrej Meszaros is listed as out for Tuesday's game against the Lightning with a concussion.
Analysis: It's believed that Andrej Meszaros acquired the head injury during Friday's game against the Canadiens, which forced him to sit out the rematch on Saturday. Fortunately, the Sabres will get Josh Gorges (knee) back from injury to bolster their blue line Tuesday, but it's uncertain when Meszaros might return. He has yet to resume skating since Friday.

Sabres' Meszaros Out Saturday Due To Injury

News: Andrej Meszaros will not play Saturday due to an unspecified injury.

Sabres' Meszaros Gets Second Point

News: Andrej Meszaros assisted on one of six Sabres goals in Saturday's win over the Maple Leafs.
Analysis: Andrej Meszaros had been a healthy scratch for the Sabres' previous three games, but Saturday's effort was a positive step in working his way out of coach Ted Nolan's doghouse. The 29-year-old has thus far failed to add the scoring punch to the blue line the Sabres were hoping for, as he's provided just two points in 13 games.

Sabres Make Meszaros Healthy Scratch

News: Andrej Meszaros will be a healthy scratch Thursday against the Bruins, Bill Hoppe of the Olean Times Herald reports.
Analysis: It's the second time this season that Andrej Meszaros will be a healthy scratch, with Tyson Strachan set to enter the lineup in his stead. The 29-year-old has been a disaster on both ends of the ice through nine games, contributing one point and a minus-10 rating.
