Avs Ink Comeau To A Three-Year Deal

News: Blake Comeau signed a three-year, $7.2 million contract with the Avalanche on Wednesday, Pierre LeBrun of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: The Avalanche will plug in Blake Comeau to replace the departed Jamie McGinn, who was dealt to the Sabres prior to last week's NHL Entry Draft. The 29-year-old Comeau tallied 16 goals and 31 points in 61 games while briefly seeing time in the Pens' top-six ranks last season.

Comeau Picks Up Pens' Lone Goal In Game 1

News: Blake Comeau scored Pittsburgh's lone goal in a 2-1 loss to the Rangers on Thursday.
Analysis: Despite skating a team-low 15 shifts, Blake Comeau made the best of his 10:43 TOI. The winger collected two PIM, two shots on goal, three hits and a takeaway. He continues to play with a wrist that won't be fully healthy until the fall.

Comeau Demoted To Pens' Third Line

News: The Pens dropped Blake Comeau to the third line from Evgeni Malkin's line during Thursday's practice, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
Analysis: Blake Comeau has scored two goals and four points in 19 games since February. He admitted that a wrist injury which forced him to miss considerable action won't be 100-percent healthy until next season.

Comeau Snaps Scoring Slump Monday

News: Blake Comeau scored his 16th goal on a team-high five shots Tuesday against the Blues.
Analysis: Blake Comeau broke a nine-game pointless streak with his score. He now has 29 points (16 goals, 13 assists) in 52 games, making him a person of interest only in deeper fantasy formats.

Pens' Comeau Operating At Less Than 100 Percent

News: Blake Comeau revealed that the wrist he broke in December will likely hinder his shot for the remainder of the season, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
Analysis: "There are times when I tweak it … more so after the games just dealing with the stiffness, the soreness, the grip strength," Blake Comeau said. "The doctors told me it's something I'm going to have to deal with the rest of the year." The production is still decent -- he has four goals in 14 games since returning -- but keep in mind he could re-aggravate the injury at any time.

Goal, Assist For Pens' Comeau

News: Blake Comeau scored a goal and gathered an assist in Friday's 5-2 win over the Ducks. He also skated to a plus-2.
Analysis: Blake Comeau opened the scoring midway through the second period, opening the floodgates for four more Penguins goals. He's been rather productive with his new team this season, having now posted 28 points and a plus-14 rating in 43 games. He probably won't be able to topple his career-high 46 points set in 2010-11 with the Islanders just because he missed so many games due to injury, but he's a nice piece of secondary scoring who should continue to produce regularly as long as he's playing with Sidney Crosby or Evgeni Malkin.

Pens' Comeau Keeps Collecting Points

News: Blake Comeau picked up an assist and four PIM against Washington on Wednesday.
Analysis: The winger has scored three goals and seven points in eight contests since returning from a wrist injury. His strong play makes it less likely Pittsburgh trades for a top-six forward prior to Monday's deadline, though anything is possible with GM Jim Rutherford at the helm.

Pens' Comeau Collects Three Points Saturday

News: Blake Comeau netted two goals and assisted on a third Saturday against the Blues.
Analysis: The multi-goal effort was Blake Comeau's first in 18 games -- he tallied a hat trick versus Toronto on Nov. 26. Comeau skated right wing on a re-configured second line with Chris Kunitz and Evgeni Malkin.

Penguins' Comeau Could Return Wednesday

News: Seth Rorabaugh of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette relays that Blake Comeau (wrist) is no longer listed as being on IR on the Penguins' official site.
Analysis: Coach Mike Johnston indicated that Blake Comeau would be a game-time decision for Wednesday's game against the Red Wings, but now that he's off IR, it looks like Comeau has a solid shot to be a go for the contest.

Pens' Comeau Adds Two Points Wednesday

News: Blake Comeau picked up a goal and an assist in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Red Wings.
Analysis: The winger has only suited up for 33 games on the season, but has been fairly productive over that span, recording 12 goals and nine assists to go along with a plus-8 rating.

Pens' Comeau (Wrist) Returns To Action Wednesday

News: Blake Comeau (wrist) is listed on the Penguins' second line in advance of Wednesday's matchup against the Red Wings.
Analysis: Blake Comeau has been out of action since Dec. 22, but the winger was removed from IR Wednesday morning, and will suit up for the evening contest. According to the Penguins' twitter account, he'll be skating alongside Evgeni Malkin and Patric Hornqvist.

Pens' Comeau A Game-Time Decision Wednesday

News: Coach Mike Johnston said Blake Comeau (wrist) will be a game-time decision Wednesday against the Red Wings, Seth Rorabaugh of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: Blake Comeau fully participated in Wednesday's morning skate, taking part in rushes on the second line with Evgeni Malkin and Patric Hornqvist. That's usually an indicator that a player is on track to play, but Comeau's availability probably shouldn't be confirmed until he's officially activated from injured reserve. Assuming his wrist feels fine after the morning workout, look for the Penguins to activate Comeau at some point during the afternoon. The winger has been out since Dec. 22 due to the injury.

Pens' Comeau Back Wednesday?

News: Blake Comeau (wrist), who skated with Evgeni Malkin and Patric Hornqvist during Monday's practice, will return to the starting lineup either Wednesday or Thursday, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
Analysis: Coach Mike Johnston said it "isn't definite" that Blake Comeau will return Wednesday. The forward first wants to see how his wrist reacts following several days of practice. Pittsburgh is off Tuesday, so there probably won't be further word on Comeau's status until the team completes its game-day skate Wednesday.

Pens' Comeau Set To Return To Practice Next Week

News: Blake Comeau (wrist) is expected to return to practice Monday, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
Analysis: Blake Comeau skated on his own Friday and took shots for the second straight day. Pittsburgh wants to give the winger a look with Evgeni Malkin prior the trade deadline before determining whether to trade for a top-six winger on Malkin's line.

Penguins' Comeau Could Return Next Week

News: Penguins coach Mike Johnston said Thursday that Blake Comeau (wrist) could return next week, Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: After partially practicing Tuesday, Blake Comeau was cleared to take slap shots for the first time Thursday. It sounds like his first chance to return will be Wednesday's game against the Red Wings.

Pens' Comeau Takes The Ice Tuesday

News: Blake Comeau (wrist) took to the ice Tuesday, Root Sports reports.
Analysis: Coach Mike Johnston previously suggested Sunday that Blake Comeau wouldn't travel with the Penguins to Edmonton, but evidently, the team reevaluated his status Monday and were comfortable bringing the forward along. Comeau didn't skate on a regular line Tuesday, so while it seems unlikely that he'll play Wednesday, he could be activated later on during the Pens' Western Canada trip.

Pens' Comeau Likely Out Another Week

News: Blake Comeau (wrist) skated prior to Monday's session but remains five-to-seven days away from returning to practice.
Analysis: Blake Comeau has missed the last 13 games with a wrist injury. It appears as though he'll miss at least another week of practice, and he's without a timetable to return to game action.

Pens' Comeau (Wrist) To Receive X-Rays

News: Blake Comeau (wrist) is scheduled to receive X-rays later this week.
Analysis: The examination should allow the Penguins to better ascertain a return timetable for Blake Comeau, who has missed the last 11 games with the injury. He hasn't been cleared to resume on-ice work during that time, but Johnston acknowledged the possibility that if all goes well with his checkup, the winger could begin skating in the next four or five days. He's been a productive addition to the Penguins this season, netting 11 goals and 19 points in 32 games.

Penguins' Comeau To Miss Several Weeks

News: Coach Mike Johnson said Tuesday that Blake Comeau would miss several weeks with a suspected wrist injury.
Analysis: Blake Comeau is just the latest in a long line of casualties for the Penguins, as he's now the 10th skater and sixth forward listed on the team's injured reserve list. Prior to suffering the injury, Comeau had been on track for his best season since 2010-11, mostly as a byproduct of seeing frequent time on the Evgeni Malkin line. With the specter of a lengthy absence now in store, it will be difficult for fantasy owners to justify rostering Comeau until he returns from the injury.

Pens Place Comeau (Wrist) On IR

News: Blake Comeau, who suffered a wrist injury Monday against the Panthers, was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: No word was available on the severity of Blake Comeau's injury since the Penguins didn't hold a morning skate Tuesday, but the placement on IR will result in the winger missing at least three contests. He becomes the 10th player to land on injured reserve for the Penguins, who replaced him with AHL call-up Dominik Uher.

Penguins' Comeau Leaves Game With Injury

News: Blake Comeau left Monday's game against the Panthers in the third period with an undisclosed injury, Josh Yohe of the Tribune-Review reports.
Analysis: Coach Mike Johnston said after Monday's game that Blake Comeau's injury may in fact be serious. Until further news is released by the Penguins, he should be considered day-to-day ahead of Tuesday's game against the Lightning.

Pens' Comeau Settles Score Thursday

News: Blake Comeau potted his 11th goal of he season -- and third game-winner -- in a 1-0 overtime victory against Colorado on Thursday.
Analysis: After the Pens' first 47 shot attempts couldn't beat Avs goalie Calvin Pickard, Blake Comeau finally got one past him midway through overtime. He's scored three goals in his last four games, registering 15 shots in that span. Comeau dished out only one hit Thursday, but has totaled 86 in 30 contests. The winger has earned his top-six standing and figures to play with Evgeni Malkin -- who assisted on his game-winning score Thursday -- for the foreseeable future.

Pens' Comeau Continues To Contribute

News: Blake Comeau netted his second goal in as many nights against a former team Saturday in Columbus.
Analysis: The forward, who also scored against the Flames on Friday, now has 10 goals and 18 points in 28 games. Blake Comeau has gained the trust of coach Mike Johnston and provided Pittsburgh with offensive production during a time when only Evgeni Malkin has played in all 29 games as a top-six forward.

Pens' Comeau Continues Scoring Friday

News: Blake Comeau potted his ninth goal just 48 seconds into Pittsburgh's 3-1 win over the Flames on Friday.
Analysis: Only a pretty Jonas Hiller pad save prevented Blake Comeau from netting his second goal of the night. The well-traveled winger, who recorded three hits, entered the game with 77 hits -- 18th most among NHL forwards. Comeau has a chance to finish with a positive plus-minus rating for the first time since 2007-08 (he's currently plus-5).

Pens' Comeau Collects Assist Tuesday

News: Blake Comeau picked up the primary assist on Evgeni Malkin's goal Tuesday, giving him 15 points (8G, 7A) in 23 games.
Analysis: Blake Comeau has settled into his spot alongside Malkin and now has even more seniority than the line's third member, Jayson Megna, who replaces the injured Chris Kunitz (foot). Megna is also seeing steady time on the team's second-unit power play and is on pace for his best showing since 2010-11, when he scored 22 goals and 46 points for the Islanders.
