Pens' Comeau Settles Score Thursday

News: Blake Comeau potted his 11th goal of he season -- and third game-winner -- in a 1-0 overtime victory against Colorado on Thursday.
Analysis: After the Pens' first 47 shot attempts couldn't beat Avs goalie Calvin Pickard, Blake Comeau finally got one past him midway through overtime. He's scored three goals in his last four games, registering 15 shots in that span. Comeau dished out only one hit Thursday, but has totaled 86 in 30 contests. The winger has earned his top-six standing and figures to play with Evgeni Malkin -- who assisted on his game-winning score Thursday -- for the foreseeable future.

Pens' Comeau Continues To Contribute

News: Blake Comeau netted his second goal in as many nights against a former team Saturday in Columbus.
Analysis: The forward, who also scored against the Flames on Friday, now has 10 goals and 18 points in 28 games. Blake Comeau has gained the trust of coach Mike Johnston and provided Pittsburgh with offensive production during a time when only Evgeni Malkin has played in all 29 games as a top-six forward.

Pens' Comeau Continues Scoring Friday

News: Blake Comeau potted his ninth goal just 48 seconds into Pittsburgh's 3-1 win over the Flames on Friday.
Analysis: Only a pretty Jonas Hiller pad save prevented Blake Comeau from netting his second goal of the night. The well-traveled winger, who recorded three hits, entered the game with 77 hits -- 18th most among NHL forwards. Comeau has a chance to finish with a positive plus-minus rating for the first time since 2007-08 (he's currently plus-5).

Pens' Comeau Collects Assist Tuesday

News: Blake Comeau picked up the primary assist on Evgeni Malkin's goal Tuesday, giving him 15 points (8G, 7A) in 23 games.
Analysis: Blake Comeau has settled into his spot alongside Malkin and now has even more seniority than the line's third member, Jayson Megna, who replaces the injured Chris Kunitz (foot). Megna is also seeing steady time on the team's second-unit power play and is on pace for his best showing since 2010-11, when he scored 22 goals and 46 points for the Islanders.

Pens' Comeau Doffs His Hat Wednesday

News: Blake Comeau potted a hat trick Wednesday in Pittsburgh's 4-3 overtime win against Toronto.
Analysis: He also led the team with five hits and four shots. Blake Comeau appears to have found a home with Evgeni Malkin and Chris Kunitz. The fact that he was on the ice in overtime with Sidney Crosby and Kris Letang shows the level of trust coach Mike Johnston has in the journeyman. Comeau now has eight goals and 13 points in 20 games for the Pens.

Comeau Stays Hot For Pens On Friday

News: Blake Comeau scored his fifth goal of the season against the Islanders on Friday and rang up a season-high eight hits.
Analysis: He did little to dissuade the coaching staff from keeping him on a line with Sidney Crosby and Chris Kunitz. Blake Comeau potted 24 goals for the Islanders in 2010-11 and could approach 20 goals with Pittsburgh -- unless and until the team trades for a top-six forward.

Comeau Gets Top Billing For Pittsburgh Tuesday

News: Blake Comeau will skate on Pittsburgh's top line Tuesday with Sidney Crosby and Chris Kunitz, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
Analysis: Pascal Dupuis (undisclosed) didn't make the trip to Montreal, giving Blake Comeau the opportunity. Comeau started Saturday on the fourth line with Marcel Goc and Craig Adams but scored his fourth goal with assists from Patric Hornqvist and Evgeni Malkin. Comeau has earned coach Mike Johnston's trust and has rewarded fantasy owners with four goals, five assists and 41 hits in 15 games.

Pens' Comeau Thrives In Return

News: Blake Comeau (illness) scored a goal and laid five hits in his return to the ice Saturday against the Rangers.
Analysis: Blake Comeau missed just one game with the illness and didn't take long to deliver another productive outing for his team. The winger has supplied a surprising nine points in 15 games this season, but most of that offense came while he was playing on a line with Evgeni Malkin. He's since transitioned to a bottom-six role, which should reduce the amount of scoring opportunities he notices in the games to come.

Pens' Comeau Set To Play Saturday

News: Blake Comeau (illness) is set to return to the lineup Saturday against the Rangers. "He will probably play tonight," coach Mike Johnston said.
Analysis: Blake Comeau was a late scratch Friday after he missed the team's morning skate that day with the illness. After picking up some additional rest, Comeau seems to be feeling healthy and should be plugged back into a bottom-six role.

Pens' Comeau (Illness) Gets Scratched

News: Blake Comeau was scratched from Friday's game against the Maple Leafs due to an illness.
Analysis: Blake Comeau was absent from the Penguins' morning skate after coming down sick, but he looked poised to return after taking part in pregame warmups. However, it sounds like the team decided to play it safe at the last minute, resulting in Comeau missing his first game of the season. Zach Sill will assume his spot in the lineup, but there's decent odds Comeau will be healthy enough to play Saturday versus the Islanders.

Pens' Comeau Continues Top-Six Production

News: Blake Comeau scored his second goal in three games Saturday against the Sabres.
Analysis: He now has three points in his last three games. The line of Pascal Dupuis, Evgeni Malkin and Blake Comeau has performed well in the last week. While it's likely coach Mike Johnston will keep the trio together for the foreseeable future, Beau Bennett is expected back in another week or so and could eventually take Comeau's spot. In the meantime, the former Blue Jacket makes for a good fantasy play -- he's scored two goals and six points in the last six games.

Pens' Comeau Keeps Points Coming Tuesday

News: Blake Comeau scored one goal -- a power-play marker -- and assisted on another one Tuesday against New Jersey.
Analysis: The winger continues to see time on the team's second line with Evgeni Malkin and the results have been impressive. Blake Comeau has scored one goal and five points in the last four contests.

Comeau Practices On Pens' Second Line Saturday

News: Blake Comeau practiced with Evgeni Malkin and Pascal Dupuis on Pittsburgh's second line Saturday morning.
Analysis: Blake Comeau has given the Pens a boost with his energy and hard work in recent games. Even though Comeau will eventually slide back to a third-line role, he represents some sneaky short-term fantasy value. He contributed with a pair of assists Thursday against the Red Wings.

Comeau Notches Two Helpers For Pens

News: Blake Comeau picked up a pair of assists in Thursday's overtime loss to the Red Wings. He also went plus-1 with two PIM and three hits.
Analysis: A very active game for Blake Comeau, who ended up skating 18:24 -- almost three minutes more than his previous season high -- and doubled his season point total. Comeau skated alongside Evgeni Malkin and Pascal Dupuis in this one, a situation that can only benefit him if it persists moving forward.

Pens' Comeau Plays With Evgeni Malkin On Thursday

News: Blake Comeau saw ice time with Evgeni Malkin and Brandon Sutter after Pascal Dupuis left Thursday's game due to injury.
Analysis: Although there are no guarantees Blake Comeau sticks on the second line, he could see a fantasy boost for as long as he skates with Malkin. The winger, who totaled four hits Thursday, has a little bit of offensive talent and could prove to be a sneaky short-term pickup. The team has yet to announce how much time Dupuis might miss, but if it's for more than a game or two then the team could decide to recall Jayson Megna, make a trade or even stick with Comeau.

Pens' Comeau Scores Goal In Team Debut

News: Blake Comeau notched the game-winning goal in Thursday's season-opening win over the Ducks.
Analysis: Playing on the third line for the Penguins in his team debut, Blake Comeau was able to cash in on one of his three shots on goal on the evening to give Pens the victory in a high-scoring affair. Comeau is expected to provide most of his contributions on the defensive end as a checker, but any offense he can provide along the way would obviously be welcomed by the Penguins.

Comeau Signs With Penguins

News: The Penguins have signed Blake Comeau to a one-year deal worth $700,000, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
Analysis: Blake Comeau, who recorded 16 points in 61 games for the Blue Jackets this past season, is a solid depth signing for Pittsburgh, where he figures to fill a bottom-six role.

Jackets' Comeau Likely To Test Market

News: The Blue Jackets haven't had any contract discussions with Blake Comeau, the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: The unrestricted free agent played in 61 games for the Blue Jackets last season, totaling five goals and 16 points with a minus-2 rating. Blake Comeau might have to settle for a two-way contract this offseason, after which he'll need to earn a fourth-line role with a new club in training camp.

Jackets' Comeau Snaps Scoring Skid

News: Blake Comeau finally found twine Tuesday, scoring for the first time in 19 games in a 3-2 home loss to the Avalanche. Nick Foligno and Fedor Tyutin grabbed the assists.
Analysis: The 28-year-old veteran winger hasn't made much of an offensive impact since coming to Ohio in a trade from Calgary last season, managing just 19 points in 63 games. Blake Comeau is nearly five full seasons removed from his 24-goal, 46-point breakout with the Islanders. He hasn't been able to come even remotely close to those numbers since, so until he shows some consistency, he won't crack too many fantasy rosters.

Blue Jackets' Comeau To Return Tuesday

News: Blake Comeau (suspension) will return to the lineup Tuesday vs. the Hurricanes, Shawn Mitchell of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Coach Todd Richards has yet to decide who will come out of the lineup in place of Blake Comeau, who was suspended for the last two games. Comeau, 28, has three goals and nine assists in 46 games.

Jackets' Comeau Handed Two-Game Suspension

News: Blake Comeau will be suspended two games for his hit on the Red WIngs' Brendan Smith, the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Blake Comeau was only assessed a minor boarding penalty after making the hit, but after a phone hearing on Wednesday, was handed a two-game suspension. He'll miss contests on Thursday and Saturday against the Canadiens and Wild, respectively.

Jackets' Comeau Has Phone Hearing Scheduled

News: Blake Comeau will have a phone hearing with the NHL's Department of Player Safety on Wednesday, MLive.com reports.
Analysis: Blake Comeau was assessed a minor penalty for boarding the Red Wings' Brendan Smith in the first period of Tuesday's game. Comeau will have a chat with the NHL's disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan, though it would be surprising if gets suspended for more than one or two games.

Jackets' Comeau Could Return Saturday

News: Blake Comeau, who hasn't played since the end of January due to a knee injury, could get back in the lineup Saturday against the Predators, the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Even if he does play, Blake Comeau will still be seeing fourth line minutes so don't look for much fantasy value here.

Blue Jackets' Comeau Skating At Full Strength

News: Blake Comeau (knee) skated in full at Wednesday's practice, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Blake Comeau missed the Jackets' final five games before the Olympic break with the knee injury, but he's expected to be ready to play when the team returns to action Feb. 27 against the Devils.
