Radulov Back To Russia

News: Alexander Radulov signed a four-year deal with CSKA Moscow of the KHL on Monday, according to Sport-Express's Slava Malamud.
Analysis: Not surprising here, as Alexander Radulov did nothing to endear himself to the Nashville brass during the playoffs, missing curfew and getting himself suspended in the second round. He played nine regular season games with Nashville following his defection from the KHL back in March.

Radulov Looking To Return To Russia

News: Alexander Radulov is negotiating a deal with CSKA Moscow of the Russian league, the Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Alexander Radulov is looking to return to the KHL after his latest stint with Nashville, which started in late March. Though he was still an effective offensive player at the NHL level, tallying three goals and four assists in nine regular season games, he also received a one-game suspension in the playoffs for violating team rules, which probably didn't help his chances of remaining with the Preds. Radulov may be one of many NHL players heading overseas due to the uncertainty over the NHL's collective bargaining agreement.

Preds Moving On From Radulov

News: The Predators will not bring back Alexander Radulov (knee), the Tennessean reports.
Analysis: GM David Poile has indicated that he will try to trade Alexander Radulov's rights to another NHL team or simply let him go back to the Kontinental Hockey League. "The best way to characterize it is it's time to not pursue Rad anymore," Poile said. "If he wants to play in the KHL, that's fine. If he wants to play with another NHL team, I'd be willing to trade his rights." In his return to the Preds after several years in the KHL, Radulov notched seven points in nine regular season games, before adding six points in eight postseason contests. Radulov is a talent to be sure, but things really soured between him and the Preds when he was hit with a one-game suspension by the team in the playoffs for a violation of team rules.

Rangers After Preds' Radulov?

News: The Rangers have contacted the Predators about Alexander Radulov's (knee) availability for next season, according to a report on TSN.ca.
Analysis: Oh, what a tangled web that has been weaved. The report suggests that while the enigmatic winger already has an offer from CSKA of the KHL on the table, he actually would prefer to remain in the NHL. The Preds have suspended him twice -- once for failing to report when he signed to play in the KHL the first time and then again this postseason for breaking team rules. It remains to be seen what value he might bring, but he's a guy who would surely love the lights (and attention) on Broadway. In related news, pigs cannot fly, but they work hard at trying.

Preds' Radulov Banged Up

News: Alexander Radulov is dealing with what he calls a "minor" leg injury that he referred to as "just a little crack in the knee," the Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Alexander Radulov, who notes that the issue will probably require surgery to repair, is headed for free agency this offseason, with a possible return to the Preds obviously not a lock after the forward was slapped with a one-game suspension during the playoffs due to a violation of team rules.

Radulov Expected To Play In Game 5 Monday.

News: Alexander Radulov (healthy scratch) is expected to return to action for Game 5 on Monday against the Coyotes, The Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Alexander Radulov, who missed Game 3 due to a suspension and then missed Game 4 due to a coaches decision, is expected to play in Game 5 on Monday. Radulov practiced with the second line Sunday.

Preds' Radulov Probable For Game 5

News: Predators' coach Barry Trotz says there's a 'high probability' Alexander Radulov will return to action in Game 5 on Monday night, reports TSN.ca.
Analysis: And in other obvious news, we learn that dolphins swim in water and birds fly in air. Game 5 is a must-win for the Preds and Alexander Radulov is the team's leading scorer. Indiscretions aside, he needs to play for them to have a shot.

Preds' Radulov Won't Play Friday

News: Alexander Radulov will not play in Friday's Game 4 against the Coyotes, Joshua Cooper of The Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Alexander Radulov, and teammate Andrei Kostitsyn, did not play in Game 3 due to a violation of team rules, and coach Barry Trotz will go with the same lineup for Game 4, meaning both will be absent from the lineup.

Predators' Radulov Takes Part In Optional Skate

News: Alexander Radulov took part in Friday's optional skate, Joshua Cooper of The Tennessean reports.
Analysis: After missing Game 3 because of a violation of team rules, Alexander Radulov doesn't appear to be a lock to return for Friday's Game 4 against the Coyotes. Predators coach Barry Trotz said that his players were "pretty committed" on Wednesday, but there's certainly a chance Radulov is in uniform Friday night.

Preds' Radulov No Lock For Game 4

News: Though Alexander Radulov's one-game suspension is up, he is not a lock to return to the Preds' lineup Friday against the Coyotes, the Tennessean reports.
Analysis: The Predators won Game 3 (Phoenix still leads the series 2-1) on Wednesday, while both Alexander Radulov and Andrei Kostitsyn sat, and there's a chance that coach Barry Trotz won't mess with success. "I know it's going to be very tough if I do anything," said Trotz on Thursday. "I thought everybody was pretty committed (on Wednesday), so I can't give you a definite decision right now. But the guys that were in got the job done and they played very hard, so it would be very difficult for me at this point to give you an exact lineup for tomorrow."

Predators' Radulov Out Due For Game 3 To Rules Violation

News: Alexander Radulov will not play in Wednesday's Game 3 against the Coyotes due to a violation of team rules, the Predators' official Twitter reports.
Analysis: Andrei Kostitsyn will also be disciplined for violating team rules, and both will be unavailable for the third game of the Western Conference Semifinals. "The Nashville Predators have a few simple rules centered around doing the right things," Predators GM David Poile said Tuesday. "Violating team rules is not fair to our team and their teammates."

Preds' Radulov Scores First Of Playoffs In Win Friday

News: Alexander Radulov scored the first goal of the game Friday night as Nashville downed Detroit 2-1 to take the Western Conference Quarterfinal series, four games to one.
Analysis: He also added an assist and was named the game's second star. It was his first goal of the NHL playoffs. Alexander Radulov had a strong series and finished with a goal, four assists, and a plus-5 rating in five games.

Radulov Missing Nashville Practice

News: Alexander Radulov (maintenance day) did not practice Monday, Tennessean writer Joshua Cooper reports.
Analysis: Alexander Radulov is "expected" to practice Tuesday, but the lack of a clear guarantee made this noteworthy. We'll keep a lookout for any information indicating whether Radulov is dealing with an actual injury.

Preds' Radulov Grabs Helper

News: Alexander Radulov picked up his first assist of the season in Saturday's win over Winnipeg.
Analysis: He sprung Matt Halischuk with a pretty pass from center ice; Halischuk didn't break stride and just wired a slapper over the glove of Ondrej Pavelec. He has a goal and an assist in two games since his return from the KHL.

Preds' Radulov Sticking With New Linemates

News: Alexander Radulov will likely continue to skate on a line with David Legwand and Patric Hornqvist, the Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Coach Barry Trotz said Friday he would like to stop trying different players on different lines at this point in the season. "I've been doing a lot of experimenting. I want to just stabilize things right now," he said. "What we need to do is find what four lines and their roles where they'll get it done." Alexander Radulov scored the Preds' only goal in his debut Thursday against Pittsburgh and should continue to be a force down the stretch.

Preds' Radulov Wastes No Time Finding Scoreboard

News: Alexander Radulov skated 15:54 and scored a goal Thursday against Pittsburgh in his first game back with the Predators, but it was Nashville's only tally in a 5-1 crushing.
Analysis: The Russian import also went minus-2, along with about half the rest of his team. Still, he made an immediate offensive impact, and fantasy owners will want to take notice.

Preds Get Radulov Back

News: Alexander Radulov will suit up Thursday against the Penguins, the Tennessean reports.
Analysis: There was some uncertainly as to when Alexander Radulov would make his season debut with the Preds, but he'll be out there Thursday and has a chance to make a late-season impact in both real and fantasy terms in his return to the NHL.

Radulov Arrives In Nashville

News: Alexander Radulov arrived in Nashville on Tuesday and will address the media along with GM David Poile at a news conference Wednesday morning, according to the Tennessean.
Analysis: Alexander Radulov met with the Preds' coaching staff Tuesday night following the team's 6-3 loss to Edmonton. He is expected to practice with the team Wednesday and play his first game Thursday against Pittsburgh. Widely regarded as the best player outside of the NHL, Radulov scored 44 goals in two seasons with Nashville before he left for the KHL in 2008, where he proceeded to post 301 points in 210 games over the next four seasons.

Radulov Headed For Nashville

News: Alexander Radulov is expected back in Nashville Tuesday and could play Thursday at Pittsburgh, according to the Tennessean.
Analysis: Furthermore, Alexander Radulov tweeted Tuesday morning that he was on a plane heading for Nashville. We expect him to play on the Preds' top line alongside Mike Fisher and Sergei Kostitsyn once he's officially in the fold.

Radulov's Return To Nashville Looking More Likely

News: Alexander Radulov has struck a deal with his KHL team that would allow him to return to Nashville, according to the Tennessean.
Analysis: There has been no official word from the Predators yet regarding Alexander Radulov's return, but it's looking more and more likely. "It was the release [from Radulov's KHL contract] that was holding him up," coach Barry Trotz said Sunday. "That's why he stayed the extra couple of days. He was planning to get on the plane Friday, from what I understand, and he couldn't work out the release...I'm sure [Monday] he will be getting on a plane and he will probably get to the U.S. Tuesday sometime." Radulov has the game-breaking skills to push the Predators over the top as they head into the playoffs. At the same time, he could pay huge dividends to fantasy teams everywhere. Grab him quick while you still have the chance.

Preds' Coach Expects Radulov's Decision Soon

News: Coach Barry Trotz expects to find out in the next few days whether Alexander Radulov will be returning to the Predators, according to the Tennessean.
Analysis: "It sounds like it's in better position and has a lot more steam to it than the past," Trotz said. "I would probably say by the weekend we should have a better idea of if [Alexander Radulov]'s coming or not." It's believed that talks between Radulov and his KHL team (Salavat Yulaev) are currently ongoing. Radulov's agent, Yuri Nikolaev, is trying to find a solution that would allow Radulov to return to the NHL before his contract expires April 30, and still allow Salavat to retain his rights.

Legal Complications Delaying Radulov's Return To NHL

News: Alexander Radulov is interested in returning to the NHL this season, but his KHL team (Salavat Yulaev) has not yet granted him permission to leave, according to Yahoo! Sports.
Analysis: Technically, Alexander Radulov is bound by his KHL contract that runs through April 30. His agent, Yuri Nikolaev, says he is trying to negotiate a way out. However, "We are under the KHL jurisdiction and this matter must be resolved in a legally sound way," Nikolaev said, adding that if Salavat and Radulov agree to terminate his contract by mutual consent, Salavat will lose the rights to Radulov, which is not something they want to do. At this point, it seems like Radulov and the KHL will need to come to some sort of special arrangement to ensure both parties needs are met, and that could take some time. Monitor closely.

Preds Awaiting Radulov's Return

News: Preds GM David Poile is "cautiously optimistic" that Alexander Radulov will return to the team soon, the Tennessean reports.
Analysis: "The table is set, everything has been discussed, all the hurdles have been cleared," Poile said Tuesday. "It's up to [Alexander Radulov] to make his decision to come back. I'm leaving that up to [his agent] Jay [Grossman] and him." Since his KHL team was eliminated from the playoffs last week, it is believed Radulov has been exploring the possibility of returning to Nashville. Under the terms of the existing contract he has with the Preds, he would fulfill the final year of that deal, which would then make him a restricted free agent effective July 1. If he does return to the Preds, Radulov would undoubtedly play a top-six role on a playoff-bound team that has already made several roster upgrades over the last few weeks. Radulov would have a solid supporting cast in Nashville and has the potential to pay huge fantasy dividends. If your league allows you to scoop him off the waiver wire now, by all means do so.

Radulov Headed Back To North America

News: The NHLPA will agree to bypass waivers for Alexander Radulov if he decides to return to the NHL, according to TSN.ca.
Analysis: We've heard nothing concrete about Alexander Radulov returning to the NHL and the Predators, but at the same time, there are several rumblings around the league, some of them getting louder. Radulov hasn't played in the NHL since 2007-08, but he's been a fantastic scorer in the KHL since leaving, averaging well over a point per game in each of the last three seasons. The Preds could certainly use one more scoring type up front with their eyes set on an extended playoff run. It's worth noting that Radulov left the NHL a few seasons ago amid a pretty big controversy over his contract, but Preds GM David Poile has said in the past he's maintained regular contact with the Radulov's camp.

Predators would welcome back Radulov

News: The Sports Xchange reports both Predators coach Barry Trotz and president of hockey operations/general manager David Poile met with forward Alexander Radulov during the World Championships in Switzerland. Both believe he is more mature and more complete player after playing a season for the Continental Hockey League in Russia, and both think he is ready to come back to the NHL. "I don't know what his contract situation is," said Trotz. "I don't know if he has an out clause. If he wants to come back he would be a welcome addition for us."
Analysis: Radulov abruptly left Nashville prior to the 2008-09 season with one year left on his entry-level contract. He wasn't happy with the Predators and was looking to move to another team. Although, he claimed he was homesick. Radulov totaled 22 goals and 48 points in 52 games with Salavat Yulaev Ufa in '08-09. He had 26 goals and 32 assists in his final season with Nashville in 2007-08. If Radulov comes back to the NHL in 2009-10, he will shoot up draft boards since he has the potential to be a valuable contributor. Stay tuned.
