Sharks' Kennedy Yet To Make a Playoff Appearance

News: Tyler Kennedy was a healthy scratch again in Saturday's Game 5 loss to Los Angeles.
Analysis: While the San Jose offense has struggled the last two games, Tyler Kennedy isn't likely to be the first to come off the scratch list if line changes happen. Martin Havlat has more offensive upside and Bracken Kearns offers more physicality.

Kennedy Likely A Scratch For Sharks In Game 2

News: With the team reporting no lineup changes for Game 2, it looks like Tyler Kennedy will be a healthy scratch again, according to David Pollak of the Mercury News.
Analysis: Tyler Kennedy's season-long struggles are taking precedent over his playoff experience. Kennedy, short of some bad play by a bottom six forward or an injury, may be hard pressed to find playing time in round one.

Sharks Scratch Kennedy In Game 1

News: Tyler Kennedy was a healthy scratch in Game 1 against the Kings.
Analysis: Tyler Kennedy has struggled all season, failing to provide the offensive depth the Sharks were looking for. In 67 games, he scored four goals and had 17 total points. While he has good playoff experience, it seems unlikely that Kennedy will get a lot of playing time in what is likely to be a very physical series.

Sharks' Kennedy Snaps Slump

News: Tyler Kennedy had an assist and a single shot in 8:19 of playing time in Tuesday's win over Edmonton.
Analysis: That snaps Tyler Kennedy's recent slump of nine games without a point. Things have been ugly for Kennedy in 2014, as he has just two assists in the last 17 games and hasn't scored a goal in 19. With stats like those, it's not surprising that he's also found himself a healthy scratch a number of times.

Kennedy Returns To Sharks' Lineup

News: Tyler Kennedy returned to the lineup Friday after being scratched for two straight games. He finished with three shots through 12:35 of ice time.
Analysis: With Raffi Torres likely to return to the lineup on Sunday, it's possible we see Tyler Kennedy's name on the scratch list again. Until he finds his offensive game, he may have a tough time cracking the lineup on a consistent basis.

Kennedy A Scratch For Sharks

News: Tyler Kennedy was scratched from the lineup on Tuesday against Toronto.
Analysis: Tyler Kennedy was expected to have a bounce-back season in San Jose and it's proven to be anything but. In 54 games he has just four goals and 12 assists. Since the break he's played in five of seven games, tallying a single assist and a minus-1 rating. He's also seen his playing time drop off below ten minutes twice in that stretch, with a high-water mark of 11:06. He'll need to prove himself before you should trust him again.

SJ's Kennedy Busts Slump

News: Tyler Kennedy had an assist, breaking a seven-game pointless streak, in an OT loss to Carolina on Tuesday.
Analysis: With the Sharks' offense healthy for the first time all season, Tyler Kennedy is battling for ice time. His 11:06 Tuesday was the most he's seen since the Olympic break. He'll need more than an assist to get back up around 14-15 minutes per night.

Kennedy Likely To Return For Sharks

News: Tyler Kennedy took rushes on the third line during Thursday's morning skate, according to David Pollak of the Mercury News.
Analysis: Tyler Kennedy appears healthy and ready to return to the lineup. The winger has four goals and 11 assists through 49 games this season.

Sharks' Kennedy Expected Back After Olympics

News: Tyler Kennedy (undisclosed) is not expected to return to the lineup until the Sharks' first game after the Olympic break on Feb. 27, CSN Bay Area's Kevin Kurz reports.
Analysis: Tyler Kennedy has missed the previous four games with the injury and has already been ruled out for the Sharks' final game before the break after suffering a recent setback. He should be ready to go following the extended rest.

Kennedy Will Not Play Wednesday For Sharks

News: Tyler Kennedy had a setback and will not suit up for Wednesday's game, according to Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area.
Analysis: With this setback it would be surprising to see Tyler Kennedy take the ice before the Olympic break. Though, with the Sharks' struggling offense, they may look for any spark they can get in their final game before the Olympic break begins Friday. Kennedy's status remains day-to-day.

Sharks' Kennedy Expects To Play Wednesday

News: Tyler Kennedy (undisclosed) expects to play Wednesday against the Stars, Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area reports.
Analysis: Tyler Kennedy was nearly able to play Monday vs. the Flyers before being scratched before the puck dropped. With another practice under his belt Tuesday, coach Todd McLellan probably has less reservations about re-inserting him back into the lineup.

Sharks' Kennedy Out Tuesday

News: Tyler Kennedy (undisclosed) is out for Monday's game against the Flyers, David Pollak of the San Jose Mercury News reports.
Analysis: Tyler Kennedy was reportedly looking good to play earlier in the day, but he was ruled out shortly before the opening faceoff. He'll miss a third consecutive game, but probably has a shot to return Wednesday against the Stars.

Sharks' Kennedy Expected To Play Monday

News: Tyler Kennedy (undisclosed) looks likely to play Monday against the Flyers, David Pollak of the San Jose Mercury News reports.
Analysis: Tyler Kennedy took part in line work during morning skate, signaling that he'll probably be ready to go Monday. He's missed the previous two games with an undisclosed injury and figures to see about 10-15 minutes of action in his return to the lineup.

Sharks' Kennedy Questionable For Monday

News: Tyler Kennedy (undisclosed) is questionable for Monday's game against the Flyers, Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area reports.
Analysis: Tyler Kennedy has missed two games with the still unspecified injury, but if he can make it through morning skate without issue, the 27-year-old could get the green light to go against Philly.

Sharks' Kennedy Likely Out Saturday

News: Tyler Kennedy (undisclosed) is not expected to play Saturday vs. the Blackhawks, Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area reports.
Analysis: Tyler Kennedy was on the ice for morning skate but was held out of line rushes, a sign he's not quite ready for a return. He'll miss his second straight game due to the injury, but it doesn't appear to be a long-term concern.

Sharks' Kennedy Out With Injury

News: Tyler Kennedy (undisclosed) will not play in Thursday's game against the Flames.
Analysis: Tyler Kennedy left Wednesday's game with an undisclosed injury and was unable to return. He typically works on the third line for the Sharks, so he should be considered day-to-day with the injury.

Sharks' Kennedy Departs Early With Injury

News: Tyler Kennedy sustained an undisclosed injury in the second period of Wednesday's loss to the Oilers and did not return, Kevin Kurz of CSNBayArea.com reports.
Analysis: There was no immediate update on his condition after the game. Tyler Kennedy typically sees most of his ice time on the third line and has four goals and 11 assists in 49 games.

Three-Game Point Streak For Sharks' Kennedy

News: Tyler Kennedy had an assist and a plus-1 rating in the Sharks' win over Tampa Bay on Saturday.
Analysis: That's points in three straight for Tyler Kennedy, who has struggled contributing offensively this season. In the 17 games prior to this streak, he had just a single assist. Buyer beware. It's not clear that Kennedy's offensive struggles are truly behind him.

Kennedy Adds Helper In Sharks' Win

News: Tyler Kennedy had an assist and two shots in Thursday's victory over the Panthers.
Analysis: Tyler Kennedy has points in two consecutive games, but he's got a ways to climb before he earns the trust of the coaching staff again. That can be seen in his playing time. He's only broken 15 minutes once since November 23rd, and has been under 12 minutes in nine of his last 14 games.

Sharks' Kennedy Ends Lengthy Goal Slump

News: Tyler Kennedy scored his fourth goal of the year -- and his first since back on Nov. 23 -- in Tuesday's 2-1 shootout win over Washington.
Analysis: Tyler Kennedy was the lone man to tally for the Sharks against Washington rookie Philip Grubauer, and in doing so collected just his second point in his last 18 games. He also skated 15:07 in this one, his highest total since -- perhaps not coincidentally -- Nov. 23.

Sharks' Kennedy Will Return Thursday

News: Tyler Kennedy (illness) will be back in the lineup Thursday, David Pollak of the San Jose Mercury News reports.
Analysis: Tyler Kennedy appears to have his energy back after missing four games with the flu. He wasn't limited at all during the team's morning skate and should slot in on the third line with Bracken Kearns and Andrew Desjardins in his return.

Kennedy Taking Line Rushes For Sharks

News: Tyler Kennedy (illness) was out practicing with the team on Thursday morning and could be back in the lineup for the night's game against Detroit, according to CSN's CSN Bay Area's Kevin Kurz.
Analysis: If he's feeling well enough to practice, it would follow that the Sharks will try to get Tyler Kennedy, who had been suffering from the flu, into game action as soon as possible.

Sharks' Kennedy Recovering

News: The Sharks expect Tyler Kennedy (illness) to return this week, David Pollak of the Mercury News reports.
Analysis: Tyler Kennedy has missed the last four games with the flu, but it sounds like he is starting to progress. There's no word yet on his availability for Thursday's game against the Red Wings, but it probably depends a lot on how he feels after Thursday's morning skate, so we probably won't hear anything until then.

Sharks' Kennedy Remains Out Tuesday

News: Tyler Kennedy (illness) will miss his fourth straight game Tuesday, David Pollak of the San Jose Mercury News reports.
Analysis: Tyler Kennedy is not yet traveling with the team, as he remains back in San Jose continuing to regain strength following a bout with the flu. Look for him to return at some point during the Sharks' homestand beginning Thursday.

Sharks' Kennedy Out With Flu

News: Tyler Kennedy will not travel with the Sharks on their current road trip due to the flu, David Pollak of the Mercury News reports.
Analysis: Tyler Kennedy has had some inconsistent minutes in his first season with the Sharks, but recently it has been related to having the flu. He should be considered day-to-day with the illness for the Sharks. This also changes earlier reports that he was a healthy scratch against Edmonton. That would have been his second healthy scratch this season.
