Sharks' Kennedy (Shoulder) Gets In On-Ice Workout

News: Tyler Kennedy (left shoulder) took part in Friday's optional practice, Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area reports.
Analysis: Tyler Kennedy doesn't appear particularly close to a return, as the optional session didn't contain much contact. He'll likely continue to skate on his own or participate in light practice for the next several days.

Sharks' Kennedy: (Shoulder) Out 'Awhile'

News: Coach Todd McLellan said Tyler Kennedy would be out "awhile" after suffering a shoulder injury Saturday in Calgary, Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area reports.
Analysis: McLellan was uncertain if Tyler Kennedy would require surgery, but it's clear a long-term absence is in store after he was forced to leave the arena Saturday in an arm sling. The timing of the injury is troubling for the 28-year-old, who had submitted perhaps the best game of his career with San Jose in his return from injured reserve last Thursday versus the Bruins, scoring two goals on four shot attempts.

Sharks' Kennedy Lands On Injured Reserve

News: Tyler Kennedy is out indefinitely with a shoulder injury, CSN Bay Area reports.
Analysis: The extent of Tyler Kennedy's injury is uncertain, but he was placed on injured reserve Monday, so he will be out a week, and potentially longer. The Sharks have yet to announce who will be recalled to take Kennedy's place on the roster.

Sharks' Kennedy Out Again

News: Tyler Kennedy was seen leaving the arena after Saturday's game in Calgary with his arm in a sling and won't suit up Sunday against Edmonton, according to David Pollak of the Mercury News.
Analysis: Tyler Kennedy played just 1:38 on Saturday before leaving the game. No official word on what the injury is and whether he'll play, but Pollak believes Kennedy will be out Sunday for sure. Kennedy has had a rough season so far, missing time with multiple injuries. He's only been back on the roster for two games since his last, unrelated lower body injury.

Sharks' Kennedy Shines In Return

News: Tyler Kennedy (lower body) bagged two goals on four shot attempts in his return to the ice Thursday against the Bruins.
Analysis: Tyler Kennedy had missed the previous two games with the injury, but helped the Sharks finish off the Bruins in the final period. His second goal of the night held up as the game-winner and gave the winger five points in 12 games on the season.

Sharks Activate Kennedy

News: Tyler Kennedy (lower body) was activated from injured reserve Thursday, Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area reports.
Analysis: Coach Todd McLellan said Tyler Kennedy would be in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Bruins, but where he plays won't be known until the Sharks have a better feel for the status of Logan Couture (head), who is questionable to play. Kennedy missed two games with the lower-body ailment but was able to return to full practice Monday.

Sharks' Kennedy Practices Monday

News: Tyler Kennedy (lower body) looked to be a full participant in practice Monday, Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area reports.
Analysis: This would indicate that the injury that landed Tyler Kennedy on IR over the weekend isn't overly serious, and while he won't be available for Tuesday's game against the Flyers, he could be an option for Thursday's tilt with the Bruins. The Sharks already have 23 players on their active roster and would need to clear a spot for Kennedy once he's ready to return.

News: Tyler Kennedy was placed on injured reserve Saturday with an undisclosed injury.
Analysis: It's not clear at this time what landed Tyler Kennedy on injured reserve, but he will be out at least the next week.

First Goal For Sharks' Kennedy Is Winner Thursday

News: Tyler Kennedy scored his first goal of the season Thursday against the Lightning, and it turned out to be the game-winner in a 2-1 decision.
Analysis: It's just his second point in five games since returning from the upper-body issue that kept him out to start the year. Although he has a 20-goal season on his resume, Tyler Kennedy represents a low-upside fantasy option at this point in his career, especially while seeing fourth-line minutes for the Sharks.

SJ's Kennedy Contributing Since Return

News: In Tyler Kennedy's second game back from injury he was held without a point or shot in Saturday's win over Dallas., However, he did register a plus-2 rating and four penalty minutes in just 9:33 of play.
Analysis: Tyler Kennedy had an assist in his season debut on Thursday, but had his ice time limited in a tighter game Saturday. It's clear that Kennedy still has to prove himself to Sharks brass after last season's middling performance.

Sharks Activate Kennedy

News: Tyler Kennedy (upper body) has been activated from injured reserve.
Analysis: With the upper-body injury no longer a concern, Tyler Kennedy will make his season debut Thursday against the Canucks. The winger, who tallied 17 points across 67 games last season, is expected to slot in on the Sharks' third line with James Sheppard and Tomas Hertl.

Kennedy To Make Season Debut For Sharks

News: The Sharks have sent Chris Tierney to the AHL, paving the way for Tyler Kennedy's return on Thursday, according to Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area.
Analysis: Tyler Kennedy had more than his share of struggles last season and was scratched regularly. He's looking to get his career back on track and rekindle the offensive spark he had in Pittsburgh a few years back.

Sharks Recall Kennedy From Conditioning Assignment

News: The Sharks recalled Tyler Kennedy (upper body) from AHL Worcester on Monday, CSN Bay Area reports.
Analysis: Tyler Kennedy played in three games with AHL Worcester as part of a conditioning assignment, and racked up two goals and an assist over that time. His play was enough to prove to the team that he's healthy, and could make his season debut Thursday against the Canucks.

Sharks Assign Kennedy For Conditioning

News: The Sharks reassigned Tyler Kennedy (upper body) to AHL Worcester on a conditioning assignment, David Pollak of the Mercury News reports.
Analysis: Tyler Kennedy has been on IR the entire season so far with the upper body injury, but should be decently close to returning considering he's heading to Worcester for a conditioning assignment.

Sharks' Kennedy (Upper Body) Won't Return Saturday

News: Tyler Kennedy (upper body) will not return from injured reserve for Saturday's game with the Sabres, David Pollak of the San Jose Mercury News reports.
Analysis: There was some optimism Tyler Kennedy might be back in action Saturday after he took part in line rushes during Friday's practice, but the team decided he could use a little more recovery time. The Sharks could choose to activate him for Sunday's game against the Ducks or at some point later in the upcoming week.

Sharks' Kennedy Close To Return

News: Tyler Kennedy (upper body) could be activated from injured reserve in advance of Saturday's game against the Sabres, Kevin Kurz of CSNBayArea.com reports.
Analysis: Tyler Kennedy, who has been out since the early part of training camp with the injury, skated on the fourth line at Friday's practice, a sign he could nearly be ready to go. The forward said after practice that he's been skating for a while and feels his conditioning is up to par, but it will ultimately be coach Todd McLellan's call on whether or not Kennedy reenters the lineup Saturday.

Sharks Place Kennedy On IR

News: Tyler Kennedy (upper body) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, David Pollak of the San Jose Mercury News reports.
Analysis: Tyler Kennedy suffered the injury early last week during practice and hasn't progressed to the point of being ready for Wednesday's season opener against the Kings. He'll be eligible to return from IR as soon as he's healthy, but the Sharks haven't provided any indication on when that might occur. His placement on IR, along with James Sheppard's, seems to have paved the way for the likes of bottom-six wingers Adam Burish, John Scott and Eriah Hayes to make the Sharks' Opening Night roster.

Sharks' Kennedy Injured In Practice

News: Tyler Kennedy exited practice today with an upper body injury and is considered day-to-day, according to Curtis Pashelka of the Mercury News.
Analysis: Not sure how to read this yet as details are scant, but Tyler Kennedy's draft value is low before this injury. It's hard to trust a player who has been as inconsistent recently as Kennedy and who was benched in the playoffs.

Sharks' Kennedy Yet To Make a Playoff Appearance

News: Tyler Kennedy was a healthy scratch again in Saturday's Game 5 loss to Los Angeles.
Analysis: While the San Jose offense has struggled the last two games, Tyler Kennedy isn't likely to be the first to come off the scratch list if line changes happen. Martin Havlat has more offensive upside and Bracken Kearns offers more physicality.

Kennedy Likely A Scratch For Sharks In Game 2

News: With the team reporting no lineup changes for Game 2, it looks like Tyler Kennedy will be a healthy scratch again, according to David Pollak of the Mercury News.
Analysis: Tyler Kennedy's season-long struggles are taking precedent over his playoff experience. Kennedy, short of some bad play by a bottom six forward or an injury, may be hard pressed to find playing time in round one.

Sharks Scratch Kennedy In Game 1

News: Tyler Kennedy was a healthy scratch in Game 1 against the Kings.
Analysis: Tyler Kennedy has struggled all season, failing to provide the offensive depth the Sharks were looking for. In 67 games, he scored four goals and had 17 total points. While he has good playoff experience, it seems unlikely that Kennedy will get a lot of playing time in what is likely to be a very physical series.

Sharks' Kennedy Snaps Slump

News: Tyler Kennedy had an assist and a single shot in 8:19 of playing time in Tuesday's win over Edmonton.
Analysis: That snaps Tyler Kennedy's recent slump of nine games without a point. Things have been ugly for Kennedy in 2014, as he has just two assists in the last 17 games and hasn't scored a goal in 19. With stats like those, it's not surprising that he's also found himself a healthy scratch a number of times.

Kennedy Returns To Sharks' Lineup

News: Tyler Kennedy returned to the lineup Friday after being scratched for two straight games. He finished with three shots through 12:35 of ice time.
Analysis: With Raffi Torres likely to return to the lineup on Sunday, it's possible we see Tyler Kennedy's name on the scratch list again. Until he finds his offensive game, he may have a tough time cracking the lineup on a consistent basis.

Kennedy A Scratch For Sharks

News: Tyler Kennedy was scratched from the lineup on Tuesday against Toronto.
Analysis: Tyler Kennedy was expected to have a bounce-back season in San Jose and it's proven to be anything but. In 54 games he has just four goals and 12 assists. Since the break he's played in five of seven games, tallying a single assist and a minus-1 rating. He's also seen his playing time drop off below ten minutes twice in that stretch, with a high-water mark of 11:06. He'll need to prove himself before you should trust him again.

SJ's Kennedy Busts Slump

News: Tyler Kennedy had an assist, breaking a seven-game pointless streak, in an OT loss to Carolina on Tuesday.
Analysis: With the Sharks' offense healthy for the first time all season, Tyler Kennedy is battling for ice time. His 11:06 Tuesday was the most he's seen since the Olympic break. He'll need more than an assist to get back up around 14-15 minutes per night.
