Schremp Signs With Swedish Team

News: Schremp has agreed to a contract with MODO in the Swedish Elite League, Newsday reports.
Analysis: Schremp opened last season with the Islanders before being claimed off waivers by the Thrashers, and he actually totaled a career-high 26 points over 63 games with both squads. However, he was not offered a qualifying this offer and became a free agent. Rather than fill a reserve spot on an NHL team, Schremp will head to Sweden to see if he can make a bigger impact.

Schremp: First Goal As Thrasher In Win Over 'Canes

News: Schremp scored the opening goal of the game in the Thrashers 3-2 win over the Carolina Hurricanes on Wednesday night.
Analysis: Schremp was quite the talent coming up through the junior ranks but he has yet to prove himself at the big league level. Add that to the fact he just joined the team recently, and it is obvious he's not worth a fantasy start.

Isles Waive Schremp

News: The Islanders placed Schremp on waivers Saturday, the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Schremp can continue playing while the waivers process plays out, but he may get sent down to the AHL if he clears waivers Monday. Schremp has 10 goals and 12 assists in 44 games this year.

Schremp Paces Isles

News: Schremp scored twice, including the game-winner, in Saturday's win over the Senators.
Analysis: The goals snapped a 16-game drought for this talented forward. His value is currently limited because of his positional qualification at center. But he could help your team if he gets a W beside that C.

Isles' Schremp To Play Wing

News: Schremp will play wing against the Thrashers on Tuesday, according to Newsday's Katie Strang.
Analysis: The Isles have scratched Schremp quite a bit because they didn't believe he could play wing. Apparently they want to give him a chance to show that he can at least be an adequate winger.

Schremp A Healthy Scratch For The Islanders

News: Schremp was a healthy scratch for the game versus Washington on Thursday, according to Newsday.
Analysis: Schremp is not hurting or being punished, but with the return of Frans Nielsen and Kyle Okposo to the lineup, someone had to sit, and Schremp drew the short straw Thursday.

News: Schremp (back) is on pace to make his season debut Wednesday versus Philadelphia, according to Newsday.
Analysis: What an interesting game it could be for Schremp's return as the Isles and Flyers got into a melee at the end of their game Saturday. Wednesday's game should renew those hostilities.

News: Schremp (back) is returning to the Islanders, according to the Islanders Point Blank.
Analysis: Apparently one game is more than enough for Schremp to convince the Islanders that he is ready to join them. Look for him to be ready to join the lineup next Wednesday versus Carolina.

News: The Islanders assigned Schremp to AHL Bridgeport on a conditioning assignment, the team's official site reports.

News: Schremp (back) skated with the team Tuesday for the first time since suffering a back injury early this month, Newsday reports.

Isles keep Schremp in the fold

News: The Islanders re-signed center Rob Schremp to a one-year contract on Thursday. Schremp had seven goals and 25 points in 44 games last season before suffering a season-ending knee injury on March 9. "We were excited to pick up Rob at the start of last season when he was put on waivers, and he responded by putting together a strong rookie campaign," Islanders GM Garth Snow told NHL.com. "We look forward to seeing him continue to improve and contribute at this level next season."
Analysis: Schremp was a huge disappointment in Edmonton after being selected in the first round in 2004. He was great in the minors, but could never find his rhythm in the NHL with the Oilers. He didn't initially find his groove with New York, but once he got his chance, he showcased his skills. Coming off a knee injury makes Schremp nothing more than an injury-risk Fantasy sleeper on Draft Day.

Schremp out for the season

News: Islanders C Rob Schremp is out for the season due to a torn meniscus in his right knee. He was injured in Tuesday's game against Philadelphia. Schremp recorded seven goals and 18 assists in 44 games this season.
Analysis: Schremp had finally turned it on with the Islanders after underachieving in three seasons with Edmonton, registering 25 points in 44 games. He should be dropped in all Fantasy formats, except for deeper long-term keeper leagues.

Schremp has first goal in six games

News: Islanders C Rob Schremp scored a goal during Tuesday's game against the Capitals. Schremp's power-play goal got New York within 2-1 in the first period. It was his first goal in six games.
Analysis: Despite his recent scoring slide, Schremp still has a season-high four goals and 10 points in 11 January games. He is finally getting regular playing time in the NHL and living up to his first-round potential. Still, Schremp remains a low-end Fantasy flier.

Schremp has first two-goal game

News: Rob Schremp posted his first two-goal game in the NHL, and Dwayne Roloson earned perhaps the easiest shutout of his career in New York's 6-0 victory over the lifeless Red Wings on Tuesday. Schremp made it 2-0 before the first period ended. A blatant giveaway in front by defenseman Brad Stuart set up Schremp for his second, and Mark Streit beat Jimmy Howard's replacement, Chris Osgood, during a late second-period power play to push the lead to 4-0.
Analysis: Schremp has four goals and five assists in his last eight games. Finally out of the Edmonton organization, Schremp is getting a fair chance in the NHL and is starting to pick up the pace. We wonder how long it will last since New York is not a top contender, but Schremp is becoming a nice low-end Fantasy buy.

Schremp picking up the pace

News: Islanders C Rob Schremp scored and assisted in Wednesday's win over the Avalanche. He now has five points in his last five games, which is half of his season haul.
Analysis: We're not sure why Schremp's output has suddenly increased, but whatever he's doing is working. He remains just worth watching in the deepest of leagues.

Schremp clutch in the shootouts

News: The Sports Xchange reports C Rob Schremp has just one goal in 19 appearances this season, but his second shootout score in three chances lifted the Islanders to a 2-1 shootout win over the Blue Jackets on Tuesday.
Analysis: The former first-round pick came to New York with hopes of finally breaking into the NHL after never getting that chance with Edmonton. While Schremp has stayed with the Islanders, he has been a healthy scratch several times. However, injuries have opened up some ice time and Schremp is capitalizing in some capacity. Still, Schremp has minimal Fantasy appeal until he succeeds in all areas.

Schremp scores first career goal

News: Islanders C Rob Schremp scored his first NHL goal on Saturday against the Bruins. After Boston was penalized for having too many men on the ice, Matt Moulson got stopped in front by Tim Thomas, and the puck deflected to Schremp behind the goal line at the right side of the net. Schremp banked it in off Thomas' right skate for a 1-0 lead. He has three points in his last four games and a point in each of his two December appearances.
Analysis: The former first-round pick came to New York with hopes of finally breaking into the NHL after never getting that chance with Edmonton. While Schremp has stayed with the Islanders, he has been a healthy scratch on most nights. However, injuries have opened up some ice time and Schremp is capitalizing. Before we get excited, we need to see long-term success.
