Rangers' Stempniak Appears Good To Go For Sunday

News: Lee Stempniak (back) practiced Saturday morning.
Analysis: Lee Stempniak likely would have been available to play Friday had the Rangers' game in Buffalo not been postponed, so his presence at practice would only seem to further reiterate that the winger is now healthy. He'll likely displace Jesper Fast from the lineup when the Rangers take on the Canadiens on Sunday.

Rangers' Stempniak Practices Thursday

News: Lee Stempniak (back) returned to the ice for Thursday's practice, Andrew Gross of the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: Lee Stempniak was held out of Wednesday's contest due to his injury, but that might be the extent of the action that the forward will have to miss. He'll have his back tightness reassessed after Friday's morning skate, but if everything checks out fine, Stempniak figures to suit up against the Sabres.

Rangers' Stempniak Has Lower-Body Injury

News: Lee Stempniak will miss Wednesday's game against the Flyers with a lower-body injury, Steve Zipay of Newsday reports.
Analysis: Coach Alain Vigneault characterized Lee Stempniak's injury as "tightness." Jesper Fast is set to join the lineup in place of Stempniak, who could be ready to go for the Rangers' next game Friday versus the Sabres.

Rangers' Stempniak Out Wednesday

News: Lee Stempniak (undisclosed) isn't expected to play Wednesday against the Flyers, Steve Zipay of Newsday reports.
Analysis: Lee Stempniak didn't practice Tuesday and wasn't on the ice for the Rangers' morning skate, so it seems fairly safe to conclude that he'll sit out Wednesday. Jesper Fast, who was a healthy scratch Monday night, is expected to replace Stempniak in the Rangers' bottom six.

Rangers' Stempniak Dealing With Undisclosed Injury

News: Lee Stempniak is considered day-to-day with an undisclosed ailment, Newsday's Steve Zipay reports.
Analysis: It's not clear what type of injury Lee Stempniak is dealing with, but he did not take part in Tuesday's practice. It remains to be seen if the setback will prevent him from taking part in the Rangers' next game Wednesday.

Rangers' Stempniak Bags Goal In Defeat

News: Lee Stempniak tallied his fourth goal of the season in Saturday's shootout loss to the Penguins.
Analysis: Lee Stempniak has been quite useful for a player who has primarily played outside the Rangers' top-six forwards this season, as he's accumulated eight points in 17 games. Somewhat surprisingly, none of those points have come on the power play, where Stempniak averages 1:56 of ice time and skates alongside a more talented collection of forwards than he normally would at even strength.

Rangers' Stempniak Consistently Producing

News: Lee Stempniak (minus-1) registered an assist in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Islanders.
Analysis: The New York native also led all skaters with six shots on goal. In addition to skating on the team's second line with Derick Brassard and Chris Kreider, head coach Alain Vigneault used the 31-year-old on the team's second power play unit. Despite his team's struggles, Lee Stempniak has proven to be a good value in the early going, logging two goals and two assists in his last three games.

Rangers' Stempniak Scores In Loss

News: Lee Stempniak scored his second goal of the season in the Rangers' 6-3 loss to Toronto Sunday.
Analysis: Lee Stempniak also added a goal Saturday against Columbus, so the veteran has now scored in consecutive games. He's playing on the third line, but also got some time on the team's powerplay unit, which could increase his limited fantasy value.

Rangers' Stempniak Nets Goal

News: Lee Stempniak provided a goal in Saturday's loss to the Blue Jackets.
Analysis: Signed to a one-year deal in the offseason, Lee Stempniak appears to have settled into a third-line role with the Rangers to begin the new campaign. He'll effectively be asked to replace the departed Benoit Pouliot, a role that doesn't figure to generate a ton of fantasy appeal.

Rangers Agree To Terms With Stempniak

News: Lee Stempniak has agreed to terms on a contract with the Rangers.
Analysis: Lee Stempniak will head to New York to join his sixth different NHL club, after splitting the 2013-14 season between Calgary and Pittsburgh. In 73 games in total, the 31-year-old Stempniak scored 12 goals and chipped in 22 assists, albeit with an unsightly minus-16 rating. He may slot in along the fourth line for the Rangers.

Stempniak Scores In Pens' Loss

News: Lee Stempniak scored Pittsburgh's first goal in Friday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Rangers in Game 1 of the Atlantic Division finals, his second goal of the postseason.
Analysis: Lee Stempniak has given the Pens some valuable secondary scoring since his arrival from Calgary at the trade deadline. Stempniak is a veteran who hasn't seen terribly much playoff action but will see opportunities for the Pens to produce.

Pens' Stempniak Gets Goal In Finale

News: Lee Stempniak potted a goal in Sunday's regular season finale against the Senators.
Analysis: Lee Stempniak has seen his production decline sharply since moving off the top line, as the goal marked his first point in four games. Should Beau Bennett flop as the right wing on the Sidney Crosby line early on in the playoffs, coach Dan Bylsma could opt to move Stempniak back up at some point.

Pens' Stempniak Produces Despite Demotion

News: Lee Stempniak skated with Brandon Sutter on Pittsburgh's third line Thursday in Winnipeg, but picked up an assist nonetheless.
Analysis: Despite being moved from Sidney Crosby's line, Lee Stempniak collected his 22nd helper of the year, giving him a three-game point streak. The Pens would not commit to the lines they used Thursday, but Beau Bennett's success next to Crosby (he scored a goal) isn't good news for Stempniak and his fantasy owners.

Stempniak Assists On Pens' Lone Goal Tuesday

News: Lee Stempniak assisted on Chris Kunitz's goal Tuesday, giving him points in two straight after going pointless in the previous five games.
Analysis: Lee Stempniak has settled in at right wing on the Sidney Crosby line and has three goals and nine points in 15 games with Pittsburgh. He hasn't secured any kind of long-term, top-six spot with the Pens, but has played well enough to stick there.

Stempniak Has Three Points In Pens Win

News: Lee Stempniak had a goal and two assists in Tuesday's win over the Stars.
Analysis: Lee Stempniak is clicking on that top line in Pittsburgh, despite only logging 11:43 of ice time. Stempniak, with only 29 points this season, has logged a goal and five assists in the seven games since joining the Penguins.

Pens' Stempniak Producing On Crosby Line

News: Playing alongside Sidney Crosby on Tuesday, Lee Stempniak collected his third point (an assist) in two games against Washington.
Analysis: Lee Stempniak forced a turnover at the left point, springing Crosby ahead for a 2-on-1 in which the captain converted against Jaroslav Halak. Stempniak isn't playing exclusively with Crosby, but he's taking advantage of his opportunities. Stempniak also created two beautiful scoring chances on one shift, beating a defenseman down the right wing and batting a floating puck out of mid-air, but to no avail against a tough Halak.

Stempniak Tallies First Pittsburgh Points

News: Lee Stempniak picked up two helpers and was plus-2 Monday against the Capitals.
Analysis: These are Lee Stempniak's first points with the Penguins in three games since they acquired him via trade. The plus-2 is noteworthy because of his minus-20 on the season -- though, of course, most of that came with lowly Calgary. His rating should keep rising the rest of the way.

Pittsburgh Acquires Stempniak At Deadline

News: Lee Stempniak was traded to the Penguins on Wednesday in exchange for a 2014 third-round draft choice, Scott Cruickshank of the Calgary Herald reports.
Analysis: Pittsburgh wasn't able to meet the demands for one of the upper-tier wingers available at the deadline, but Lee Stempniak could be tabbed for the right wing spot on the Sidney Crosby line. Stempniak had eight goals and 15 assists in 52 games with the Flames, but his production (and fantasy value) could potentially take off if he's granted a top-six role.

Flames' Stempniak Rejoins Team

News: Lee Stempniak (personal) rejoined his team for morning skate and should be in the lineup Monday against the Wild, Randy Sportak of the Calgary Sun reports.
Analysis: After witnessing the birth of his twin daughters over the weekend, the new father slotted back in on the second line at morning skate. Lee Stempniak's return helps lessen the impact of Matt Stajan's (personal) unavailability for Monday's game.

Flames' Stempniak Plans To Return Monday

News: Lee Stempniak (personal) plans to return to the team for Monday's game against the Wild, Kristen Odland of the Calgary Herald reports.
Analysis: Lee Stempniak will be out Saturday for the second straight game as he awaits the birth of his twin daughters. The forward's personal situation had been unclear over the last few days, but this latest news establishes a relatively firm return date for fantasy owners to mark down.

Flames' Stempniak Likely Out Saturday

News: Lee Stempniak (personal) is not expected to play Saturday against the Oilers, NHL.com's Aaron Vickers reports.
Analysis: Lee Stempniak wasn't present for morning skate and looks as though he'll probably miss his second game in a row as he attends to a personal matter. Before Stempniak left Wednesday's practice, the Flames said they only expected miss to miss a few days, making it possible that he's back in the lineup Monday vs. the Wild. Stay tuned for further notice.

Flames' Stempniak Won't Return For A Few Days

News: Coach Bob Hartley said Lee Stempniak (personal) won't return to the team for a few more days, Randy Sportak of the Calgary Sun reports.
Analysis: Lee Stempniak has already been ruled out for Thursday's game, but this latest report would seem to suggest he's no guarantee to play Saturday vs. the Oilers, either. The Flames should provide an update on his availability for that game when the time comes.

Flames' Stempniak Out For Thursday

News: Lee Stempniak (personal) will not play Thursday against the Kings, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 reports.
Analysis: Lee Stempniak is still away from the team for personal reasons, and hasn't practiced in almost a week. He's expected back relatively soon, so continue to consider him day-to-day unless we hear more.

Flames' Stempniak Misses Practice

News: Lee Stempniak (personal) did not practice Wednesday, Randy Sportak of the Calgary Sun reports.
Analysis: The news is a little worrisome, especially considering Lee Stempniak was supposed to be back with the team by now. His status for Thursday's game against the Kings is still up in the air, but the absence is still not expected to be long term.

Flames' Stempniak Attending To Personal Issues

News: Lee Stempniak left Thursday's practice for personal reasons, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports.
Analysis: Lee Stempniak is only expected to miss a few days before rejoining the Flames early next week.
