Two Points In Finale For Jets' Stempniak

News: Lee Stempniak supplied a goal and assist in Saturday's regular-season finale against the Flames.
Analysis: With the Jets holding out several of their top players Saturday with their playoff berth secure, Lee Stempniak took on more of a featured role than usual, and thrived against a green Calgary defense. The 32-year-old's fourth multi-point performance of the season enabled him to finish the campaign with 15 goals and 13 assists over 71 games.

Pair Of Goals For Jets' Stempniak

News: Lee Stempniak fired home a pair of goals -- including the game winner - in Saturday's 5-4 win over the Canucks.
Analysis: As far 32-year-old NHL journeymen go, Lee Stempniak has been sizzling of late with five points in his last six games. He's settled into a nice bottom-six role with the Jets since being traded from the Rangers on March 1, providing solid scoring depth and a veteran presence on a Winnipeg squad doing everything they can to get to the postseason.

Jets' Stempniak Scores Against Old Mates

News: Lee Stempniak potted his 12th goal of the year Tuesday in a 3-2 loss to the Rangers.
Analysis: He picked the high-glove corner on Henrik Lundqvist, getting a small measure of revenge on the team that traded him prior to the deadline this season. Life in Winnipeg has been a bit better for him so far than the Big Apple, as Stemp's got six points in 13 games -- a far better rate than the 18 points he manged in 53 contests with the Rangers.

Jets' Stempniak Will Likely Play On Third Line

News: Lee Stempniak skated with Adam Lowry and Blake Wheeler at Tuesday's practice, and is likely to play with them on the Jets' third line when Winnipeg takes on Ottawa Wednesday, Ed Tait of the Winnipeg Free Press reports.
Analysis: It remains unclear how much ice time Lee Stempniak will average with his new club, however, the fact that he skated with Wheeler and Lowry on Winnipeg's third line at Tuesday's practice bodes well for the veteran winger. Judging from his soon-to-be line-mate's averages, he'll likely get a little over 13 minutes of ice time per game with the Jets. While that isn't a significant improvement on the 12:26 minutes of ice time he averaged per game with New York, the improved talent surrounding Stempniak could lead to a modest boost in production for him. Stempniak tallied nine goals and nine assists in 53 games with the Rangers this season, and will look to improve on those numbers with Winnipeg as the 2014-2015 campaign draws to a close. Fantasy owners should take a wait-and-see approach with Stempniak until his role with his new team becomes clearer.

Stempniak Traded To Jets

News: The Jets acquired Lee Stempniak from the Rangers on Sunday in exchange for Carl Klingberg.
Analysis: Lee Stempniak, who has recorded nine goals and 18 points in 53 games for the Rangers to date, could see a modest boost in production with the Jets, though a wait-and-see approach is in order from a fantasy perspective until his linemates and role with his new team are clarified.

Rangers' Stempniak Breaks Out Of Slump

News: Lee Stempniak scored two goals, including the game-winner in the final minutes of the third period, Thursday against the visiting Coyotes.
Analysis: Well, it's about time. Lee Stempniak had gone four straight without a point and had totaled just two points in the prior 19 contests. Perhaps it's not such a coincidence that this big game came against the Coyotes, for whom he played a season-plus.

Slump Continues For Rangers' Stempniak

News: Lee Stempniak is currently in the midst of a 13-game point-scoring drought.
Analysis: Previously a bubble fourth-liner, the winger has certainly had his chances at cracking the lineup but has produced just six goals, 14 points and 50 hits through 45 games. Needless to say, the former 50-point-getter holds little-to-no value in most fantasy formats and should be avoided.

Rangers' Stempniak Nets Sixth Goal

News: Lee Stempniak tallied his sixth goal of the season in Thursday's win over the Kings.
Analysis: Lee Stempniak has held down a regular role on the Rangers' fourth line since returning from the mumps, but that role won't imbue him with much fantasy utility. His six goals and 14 points for the season aren't likely to stand out on the waiver wire.

Rangers' Stempniak Expected To Play Saturday

News: Lee Stempniak (illness) took part in Saturday's morning skate and is expected to play against the Devils, Steve Zipay of Newsday reports.
Analysis: Coach Alain Vigneault said he hasn't decided yet if Lee Stempniak will replace J.T. Miller in Saturday's lineup, but given how the line arrangements played out in morning skate, it looks like Stempniak will draw back in. Stempniak hasn't played since Dec. 16 after being diagnosed with the mumps, but he was cleared to rejoin the team Tuesday and has been healthy for a few days now.

Rangers' Stempniak Will Not Play Tuesday

News: Lee Stempniak (illness) will be scratched for Tuesday's game against the Capitals, Steve Zipay of Newsday reports.
Analysis: Though Lee Stempniak was cleared to rejoin the team Tuesday following a five-day exile, he still needs a little extra time to recover from his bout with the mumps. Stempniak remains day-to-day with the illness, but should have a good chance at suiting up when the Rangers take on the Devils on Saturday.

Rangers' Stempniak Dealing With Mumps

News: Lee Stempniak has been confirmed to have a case of the mumps, Andrew Gross of The Record reports.
Analysis: Lee Stempniak underwent testing for the virus over the weekend, and now has a confirmed case. He will skate on his own Monday and will skate with the Rangers on Tuesday, however, which could indicate he hasn't been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Capitals.

Rangers' Stempniak Undergoing Mumps Tests

News: Lee Stempniak will undergo testing for the mumps virus and will be isolated from the Rangers for the next five days, Andrew Gross of The Record reports.
Analysis: Though Lee Stempniak hasn't been diagnosed with the virus, the Rangers aren't taking any chances after Tanner Glass and Derick Brassard both previously dealt with the mumps. Even if the tests don't reveal Stempniak's illness to be anything serious, the five-day timeline will force him to miss at least the Rangers' two games over the weekend. The Rangers could recall a forward from AHL Hartford to cover for Stempniak's absence.

Rangers' Stempniak A Healthy Scratch Wednesday

News: Lee Stempniak will be a healthy scratch for Wednesday's game against the Lightning, Steve Zipay of Newsday reports.
Analysis: Lee Stempniak missed two games last week with a back injury, but had received full clearance to play over the weekend. Instead of slotting a healthy Stempniak back into the lineup, coach Alain Vigneault decided to stick with youngsters Jesper Fast and Anthony Duclair in bottom-six roles Sunday against the Canadiens, and will do so again Wednesday. Stempniak may need either Fast or Duclair to slip up in the near future if he hopes to earn his way back into a regular role.

Rangers' Stempniak Appears Good To Go For Sunday

News: Lee Stempniak (back) practiced Saturday morning.
Analysis: Lee Stempniak likely would have been available to play Friday had the Rangers' game in Buffalo not been postponed, so his presence at practice would only seem to further reiterate that the winger is now healthy. He'll likely displace Jesper Fast from the lineup when the Rangers take on the Canadiens on Sunday.

Rangers' Stempniak Practices Thursday

News: Lee Stempniak (back) returned to the ice for Thursday's practice, Andrew Gross of the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: Lee Stempniak was held out of Wednesday's contest due to his injury, but that might be the extent of the action that the forward will have to miss. He'll have his back tightness reassessed after Friday's morning skate, but if everything checks out fine, Stempniak figures to suit up against the Sabres.

Rangers' Stempniak Has Lower-Body Injury

News: Lee Stempniak will miss Wednesday's game against the Flyers with a lower-body injury, Steve Zipay of Newsday reports.
Analysis: Coach Alain Vigneault characterized Lee Stempniak's injury as "tightness." Jesper Fast is set to join the lineup in place of Stempniak, who could be ready to go for the Rangers' next game Friday versus the Sabres.

Rangers' Stempniak Out Wednesday

News: Lee Stempniak (undisclosed) isn't expected to play Wednesday against the Flyers, Steve Zipay of Newsday reports.
Analysis: Lee Stempniak didn't practice Tuesday and wasn't on the ice for the Rangers' morning skate, so it seems fairly safe to conclude that he'll sit out Wednesday. Jesper Fast, who was a healthy scratch Monday night, is expected to replace Stempniak in the Rangers' bottom six.

Rangers' Stempniak Dealing With Undisclosed Injury

News: Lee Stempniak is considered day-to-day with an undisclosed ailment, Newsday's Steve Zipay reports.
Analysis: It's not clear what type of injury Lee Stempniak is dealing with, but he did not take part in Tuesday's practice. It remains to be seen if the setback will prevent him from taking part in the Rangers' next game Wednesday.

Rangers' Stempniak Bags Goal In Defeat

News: Lee Stempniak tallied his fourth goal of the season in Saturday's shootout loss to the Penguins.
Analysis: Lee Stempniak has been quite useful for a player who has primarily played outside the Rangers' top-six forwards this season, as he's accumulated eight points in 17 games. Somewhat surprisingly, none of those points have come on the power play, where Stempniak averages 1:56 of ice time and skates alongside a more talented collection of forwards than he normally would at even strength.

Rangers' Stempniak Consistently Producing

News: Lee Stempniak (minus-1) registered an assist in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Islanders.
Analysis: The New York native also led all skaters with six shots on goal. In addition to skating on the team's second line with Derick Brassard and Chris Kreider, head coach Alain Vigneault used the 31-year-old on the team's second power play unit. Despite his team's struggles, Lee Stempniak has proven to be a good value in the early going, logging two goals and two assists in his last three games.

Rangers' Stempniak Scores In Loss

News: Lee Stempniak scored his second goal of the season in the Rangers' 6-3 loss to Toronto Sunday.
Analysis: Lee Stempniak also added a goal Saturday against Columbus, so the veteran has now scored in consecutive games. He's playing on the third line, but also got some time on the team's powerplay unit, which could increase his limited fantasy value.

Rangers' Stempniak Nets Goal

News: Lee Stempniak provided a goal in Saturday's loss to the Blue Jackets.
Analysis: Signed to a one-year deal in the offseason, Lee Stempniak appears to have settled into a third-line role with the Rangers to begin the new campaign. He'll effectively be asked to replace the departed Benoit Pouliot, a role that doesn't figure to generate a ton of fantasy appeal.

Rangers Agree To Terms With Stempniak

News: Lee Stempniak has agreed to terms on a contract with the Rangers.
Analysis: Lee Stempniak will head to New York to join his sixth different NHL club, after splitting the 2013-14 season between Calgary and Pittsburgh. In 73 games in total, the 31-year-old Stempniak scored 12 goals and chipped in 22 assists, albeit with an unsightly minus-16 rating. He may slot in along the fourth line for the Rangers.

Stempniak Scores In Pens' Loss

News: Lee Stempniak scored Pittsburgh's first goal in Friday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Rangers in Game 1 of the Atlantic Division finals, his second goal of the postseason.
Analysis: Lee Stempniak has given the Pens some valuable secondary scoring since his arrival from Calgary at the trade deadline. Stempniak is a veteran who hasn't seen terribly much playoff action but will see opportunities for the Pens to produce.

Pens' Stempniak Gets Goal In Finale

News: Lee Stempniak potted a goal in Sunday's regular season finale against the Senators.
Analysis: Lee Stempniak has seen his production decline sharply since moving off the top line, as the goal marked his first point in four games. Should Beau Bennett flop as the right wing on the Sidney Crosby line early on in the playoffs, coach Dan Bylsma could opt to move Stempniak back up at some point.
