Tallackson makes move to St. Louis

News: The Blues announced the signing of free-agent forward Barry Tallackson Thursday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Analysis: The 26-year-old forward split the 2008-09 season between the New Jersey Devils and Lowell of the AHL. He had no points in four games with the Devils and 21 points (11 goals) in 56 games with Lowell. It was great to see Tallackson on the ice last season after he had to overcome some health issues (irregular heartbeat). Still, Tallackson is merely organizational depth and can be ignored in Fantasy.

Tallackson makes season debut Friday

News: Barry Tallackson made his season debut for the Devils following surgery to correct an irregular heartbeat, while John Madden sat out with a foot injury Friday against the Islanders. Tallackson didn't record a point in 4:14 of ice time and finished at even.
Analysis: Tallackson has played in just 17 NHL games over the last four seasons and hasn't tallied a point since 2005-06. He is just roster depth and has no Fantasy value.

Tallackson back practicing with Devils

News: The Bergen County Record reports that Devils RW Barry Tallackson practiced on Tuesday. Tallackson had surgery on Sept. 26 to correct an irregular heartbeat and was recently on a conditioning assignment in the AHL.
Analysis: Tallackson is eligible to return from the long-term injured list this weekend, so he could be available for Fantasy Week 8 (Nov. 24-30). He has no Fantasy value, however, so continue to ignore him.

Tallackson to AHL for a month

News: The Bergen County Record reports that Devils RW Barry Tallackson has been placed on long-term injured reserve and will report to Lowell of the AHL for a conditioning assignment. Tallackson had heart surgery in late September.
Analysis: When a player is put on long-term IR, they cannot return for 10 games or 24 days, so Tallackson won't be back up with the Devils until late November. Continue to ignore him in all formats.

Tallackson back practicing

News: Devils RW Barry Tallackson practiced Thursday for the first time since surgery on Sept. 26 to correct an irregular heartbeat. "I was pretty nervous out there," Tallackson admitted. "Last night, when they told me I get to practice with the team, I was like,' Oh, jeez. I've got to make sure I bare down on my passes and just make sure I do the little things to have practice go right.' So, I had a little butterflied, but it was fun. It was nice to be out there."
Analysis: Tallackson has played in just 16 NHL games spanning three seasons and has two points to show for it. Continue to ignore him in all formats.

Tallackson resumes workouts

News: The Bergen County Record reports that Devils RW Barry Tallackson worked out off the ice Monday for the second straight day and has experienced no problems with his heart. Tallackson has surgery on Sept. 26 to correct an irregular heartbeat. "I'm pretty excited," Tallackson said. "I wanted to see what it's like and I wanted to get my heart rate going just to see if they really did take care of everything. I'm pretty confident they did and I got my heart rate rocking today and didn't seem like there was any trouble."
Analysis: Tallackson has played in just 16 NHL games spanning three seasons and has two points to show for it. Continue to ignore him in all formats.

Devils re-sign four, but not Brylin

News: The New Jersey Devils re-signed impending free agents Jay Pandolfo and Bryce Salvador on Tuesday, but said goodbye to forward Sergei Brylin, who won three Stanley Cup titles and spent his first 13 NHL seasons with the club. Just hours before bidding could begin on other teams' free agents, the Devils came to terms with Pandolfo and fellow forwards David Clarkson and Barry Tallackson, along with sturdy defenseman Salvador -- who came to New Jersey at this year's trade deadline. Pandolfo signed a three-year deal in which he will earn $2.5 million per season. Salvador will be paid $2.9 million for each of the next four seasons, and Clarkson signed a two-year contract that will pay him $800,000 next season and $875,000 in the 2009-10 season.
Analysis: Pandolfo is a solid NHLer, but is more of a low-end Fantasy option, having never scored more than 30 points in a season. Salvador is a nice heavy hitter, but his value lies only in deeper leagues that reward penalty minutes. Clarkson is also a solid enforcer, but shouldn't be much of a scorer again in 2008-09. Only draft him in leagues that reward penalty minutes. Tallackson has only two points in 16 career NHL games and should be ignored in all formats until he shows some potential. As for Brylin, his days as a potent Fantasy contributor appear to be over, and he should only be drafted as a flier in super-deep leagues.

Analysis: Tallackson has played in just 14 NHL games spanning three seasons and will likely be headed back to Lowell as soon as a roster spot is needed. He has no Fantasy value at this time.

Devils trio goes scoreless

News: Dan LaCouture, Erik Rasmussen and Barry Tallackson all went scoreless in Tuesday's game at Pittsburgh.
Analysis: Neither of the players are worthy of any Fantasy consideration at this time, although Tallackson is a decent looking prospect who might make a splash in leagues by 2007-08.

Tallackson returned to Albany

News: Barry Tallackson was assigned to Albany of the AHL on Monday.
Analysis: Tallackson will get more of an opportunity to play in the AHL. He has a future in the NHL as a third or fourth line player, but his Fantasy value is minimal.
