Dubnyk, Wild Emerge From Break With Win

News: Devan Dubnyk stopped 23 of 24 to deliver a 2-1 victory over his old Edmonton mates on Tuesday.
Analysis: He'd struggled a bit in the last two games before the break after getting off to a big start with Minnesota, and there's been a sharp difference so far in Devan Dubnyk's results when facing good teams vs. bad ones. He's allowed two goals in total while beating the Oilers, Coyotes and Sabres, but gave up seven goals in two games against Columbus and Detroit.

Wild's Dubnyk Draws Tuesday Start

News: Devan Dubnyk has been confirmed as the starter in net for Tuesday's game against the Oilers.
Analysis: With fellow goaltender Darcy Kuemper currently with AHL Iowa on a conditioning assignment, Devan Dubnyk is slated to make his fifth straight start in net for the Wild on Tuesday.

Wild's Dubnyk On Track To Start Tuesday

News: Devan Dubnyk is in line to start Tuesday's game against the Oilers, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Russo adds that with Darcy Kuemper on a conditioning stint with AHL Iowa, Devan Dubnyk appears on track to see the bulk of the Wild's starts in net on the heels on the team's return to action from the NHL All-Star break.

Wild's Dubnyk Should Be Busy In Coming Weeks

News: Devan Dubnyk is expected to start most of Minnesota's games over the next couple of weeks, the Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Minnesota has a light schedule coming out of the All-Star break, and Darcy Kuemper has been sent to AHL Iowa for a conditioning stint. Devan Dubnyk has struggled recently, but it sounds like he'll be busy over the next few weeks, likely starting with Tuesday's game in Edmonton.

Wild Pull Dubnyk Tuesday

News: Devan Dubnyk made it less than halfway into the second period before being pulled Tuesday against the Wings, having allowed four goals on 10 shots.
Analysis: Fortunately, he avoided the loss, as Darcy Kuemper came on and was perfect for the remainder of regulation, allowing the Wild to mount a comeback that ended with a shootout defeat. Dubs has come back to earth hard over the last two games after dominating a pair of bad teams in his first two starts with Minnesota, and it wouldn't be surprising to see the Wild roll out the now-healthy Kuemper next Tuesday, when they face Edmonton in their first game after the All-Star break.

Wild Stick With Dubnyk

News: Devan Dubnyk will start Tuesday's game against the Red Wings, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Per the report, Darcy Kuemper is slated to serve as Devan Dubnyk's backup Tuesday, with the Wild hoping to bounce back from Monday's 3-1 loss to the Blue Jackets, in which Dubnyk allowed three goals on 23 shots.

Dubnyk Takes First Loss With Wild

News: Devan Dubnyk gave up three goals on 23 shots in a 3-1 loss to the visiting Blue Jackets on Monday. It was his first loss as a member of the Wild.
Analysis: Devan Dubnyk made a couple key saves to keep Minnesota in this one, but Sergei Bobrovsky (25 of 26 saves) was just plain better for the visitors. It would have been nice for Dubnyk owners (and Wild fans) if he could have remained undefeated in a Minnesota uniform after beating the lowly Sabres and Coyotes in his first two appearances with the team, but at least there's reason to be optimistic in the State of Hockey. Dubnyk has provided some stability in the crease for a Wild team desperately needing it with Darcy Kuemper and Niklas Backstrom struggling this year, so look for Dubnyk to continue to get his looks, as the starting gig is very much up for grabs in St. Paul.

Wild Stick With Dubnyk

News: Devan Dubnyk is slated to start Monday's game against Columbus.
Analysis: Devan Dubnyk, who will look to earn his third straight win in a Minnesota uniform, has stopped 44 of 45 shots in his two turns with the team since being acquired from the Coyotes this past Thursday.

Wild's Dubnyk Defeats Former Team

News: Devan Dubnyk stopped 25 of 26 shots in Saturday's win over the Wild.
Analysis: Minnesota wasn't doing very well...and then Devan Dubnyk arrived. The rest is history. In his first two starts with his new team, Dubnyk has two wins, stopping 44 of 45 shots and not allowing a single even-strength goal against. The 28-year-old is now 11-5-2 on the season with a .921 save percentage and 2.49 GAA. As long as Dubnyk keeps up this stellar play, he'll remain the starter in Minnesota. He's worth looking at, as he's suffered just two losses in his past seven appearances.

Wild's Dubnyk To Get Start Against Former Team

News: Devan Dubnyk will draw the start in goal Saturday against the Coyotes, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Devan Dubnyk will face his former team just three days after they traded him to the Wild. The netminder looks like he'll function as the Wild's top option in goal until Darcy Kuemper (lower body) returns from IR, which could happen as early as next week. Dubnyk wasn't tested much in his Wild debut Tuesday against the Sabres, facing only 18 shots in a 7-0 romp. Like the Sabres, the Coyotes don't pose much of a threat offensively and are effectively packing it in for the 2014-15 season, making Dubnyk a fairly attractive play in daily formats.

Dubnyk Cruises To Shutout In Wild Debut

News: Devan Dubnyk stopped all 18 shots that came his way while his team lit up Jhonas Enroth on the other end Thursday in a 7-0 win over Buffalo.
Analysis: A very impressive debut for Devan Dubnyk, though obviously he wasn't worked very hard. The Wild had been horribly cold coming into this game, but the Sabres are just bad. The fact that Dubnyk put up a .916 save mark with Arizona's brutal defense in front of him is promising for his change of uniform, as Minnesota can use the stability he offers in goal with neither Darcy Kuemper (when healthy) nor Niklas Backstrom having very good years. Next up: a game against his old friends on the Coyotes on Saturday.

Wild Turn To Dubnyk

News: Devan Dubnyk will start Thursday's game against the Sabres.
Analysis: With Darcy Kuemper out, and both Niklas Backstrom and John Curry having struggled, the newly-acquired Devan Dubnyk will make his Minnesota debut on Thursday. The Wild are on an 0-5-1 slide, but it's a favorable matchup on paper for Dubnyk, with the Sabres having lost eight straight games.

Wild's Dubnyk Could Debut Thursday

News: Devan Dubnyk could make his Wild debut as early as Thursday against the Sabres, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports.
Analysis: Devan Dubnyk, who was acquired from the Coyotes on Wednesday, comes in with a 9-5-2 record with a .916 save percentage. Whether he plays Thursday will depend largely upon when he arrives in Buffalo to meet the team, but it will ultimately be coach Mike Yeo's call.

Dubnyk Traded To Wild

News: The Wild have acquired Devan Dubnyk from the Coyotes in exchange for a third-round draft pick, TSN.ca reports.
Analysis: Devan Dubnyk, who had a 9-5-2 record for the Coyotes, with a .916 save percentage and 2.72 GAA, will bolster the Wild's netminding situation, with Darcy Kuemper banged up and Niklas Backstrom currently owning a save percentage of .887.

Dubnyk, Coyotes Stuck With 3-2 Loss

News: Devan Dubnyk gave up three goals on 25 shots to take a home loss Tuesday against the Sharks.
Analysis: After a six-goal disaster on New Year's Eve, Devan Dubnyk got sat down for nearly two weeks (but just four games) in favor of Mike Smith, a change that offered mixed results for the Coyotes. Dubnyk's still been the better minder, though in truth, neither has looked terribly good of late.

Coyotes' Dubnyk Expected To Start Tuesday

News: Devan Dubnyk was the first goalie off the ice at morning skate and will likely get the start in net Tuesday against San Jose, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: Devan Dubnyk will be looking for redemption after an abysmal showing in his last outing on New Year's Eve, when he surrendered six goals on 31 shots to the Stars. Overall, however, Dubnyk has been solid this season, going 9-4-2 with a 2.70 GAA and a .918 save percentage. The matchup with the Sharks isn't a layup by any means, but Dubnyk looks to be a better option in the net for the Coyotes than Mike Smith, who has been dreadful all season.

Yotes' Dubnyk Lit Up For Six Goals

News: Devan Dubnyk was a disaster Wednesday, surrendering six goals on 31 shots as the Coyotes were blasted 6-0 by the Stars.
Analysis: Believe it or not, the dynamic duo of Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin only potted one goal for the Stars in this one, as 12 different Dallas players recorded points at the expense of Devan Dubnyk. Owners who recently acquired Dubnyk based on his strong play (three wins in a row prior to Wednesday) have got to be a bit irked with this stinker, but with veteran Mike Smith performing well below his potential this season, Dubnyk should be -- at minimum -- good for a few more starts in the short term as the Desert Dogs fight to stay out of the Western Conference basement.

Coyotes' Dubnyk Gets Nod Wednesday

News: Devan Dubnyk was the first goalie off the ice at morning skate and will thus get the start Wednesday versus the Stars, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: With Devan Dubnyk playing impressively while guiding the Coyotes to wins in three consecutive games, it's no surprise that he'll get the call for the fourth straight outing. When neither Dubnyk nor Mike Smith were playing well earlier in the month, coach Dave Tippett indicated that he'd be inclined to ride the hot hand, and it's clear that distinction belongs to Dubnyk at the moment. The goaltender's horrid 2013-14 season with three different organizations raises concern about his long-term viability in the net, but it's hard to argue with the production he's shown so far with his new team. He carries a 9-3-2 record, 2.49 GAA and .925 save percentage into Wednesday's tilt.

Yotes' Dubnyk Grounds Flyers Monday

News: Devan Dubnyk turned aside 30 of 32 shots in a 4-2 win over the visiting Flyers on Monday.
Analysis: Other than two quick strikes within four minutes by R.J. Umberger in the second period, Devan Dubnyk was perfect in earning his ninth win of the season and third in a row. The former Oiler has played well enough to be granted the crease for seven straight games now, as his .925 save percentage and 2.49 GAA are light years ahead of traditional starter Mike Smith's numbers (.884, 2.48 in 23 games).

Dubnyk In Line To Start For Coyotes

News: Devan Dubnyk was the first goalie off the ice at morning skate and is in line to make the start Monday versus the Flyers, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: Devan Dubnyk will earn his third consecutive start after stopping 61 of 63 pucks over his previous two turns. It's too small of a sample to put much faith in Dubnyk just yet, but it's been enough for him to surpass the scuffling Mike Smith for the No. 1 gig.

Yotes' Dubnyk Outstanding In Win

News: Devan Dubnyk stopped 35 of 36 in regulation, before denying all four Ducks' shooters in the shootout in Saturday's win over Anaheim.
Analysis: Has Devan Dubnyk stolen the starting position from the once elite Mike Smith? Has this really happened? Dubnyk has been outstanding in his last two starts, stopping 61 of 63 shots. With an 8-3-2 record, to go with a .924 save percentage and 2.52 GAA, Dubnyk has earned the recent ice time he's been given. As long as he continues to succeed, the Coyotes will continue to give him the nod. What a story.

Coyotes' Dubnyk Expected To Start Saturday

News: Devan Dubnyk was the first goalie off the ice at morning skate and will get the start in goal Saturday against the Ducks, Craig Morgan of FOX Sports Arizona reports.
Analysis: Devan Dubnyk is a respectable 7-3-2 on the season with a 2.65 GAA and a .920 save percentage, allowing him to pass up Mike Smith on the depth chart for the time being. The 28-year-old goaltender will look to build on his impressive last outing, in which he stopped 26 of 27 shots in a winning effort against the Oilers.

Dubnyk, Coyotes Trounce Oilers

News: Devan Dubnyk put a stop to 26 of 27 shots Tuesday to deliver another win over his old Oilers mates.
Analysis: Devan Dubnyk has absolutely reveled in playing Edmonton this year -- he's made three starts against the Oil, giving up three goals on 93 shots for a 3-0 record, 0.97 GAA and .968 save percentage. Of course, everyone beats up on the Oilers these days, so we'll be looking for Dubnyk to maintain this level of success when the Coyotes are back in action Saturday against Anaheim, assuming they don't go back to Mike Smith in net. And why would they?

Coyotes Tab Dubnyk For Tuesday Start

News: Devan Dubnyk will draw the start in goal Tuesday against the Oilers, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: With Mike Smith faltering miserably in his return to the night Monday against the Canucks, Devan Dubnyk will make his fourth start in five games Tuesday. He's begun to see his ratios flatline and was erratic in relief of Smith on Monday, but he still gives the Coyotes the best chance to win at this time. Should Dubnyk start to see even more bloodletting to his numbers, coach Dave Tippett could revisit his goalie situation, so he certainly won't have much room for error. Dubnyk will be an inferior option most nights, but that won't be the case against the league-worst Oilers, whom he held to one goal on 32 shots just last week.

Coyotes' Dubnyk Solid In Relief In Loss

News: Devan Dubnyk came on in relief of Mike Smith in Monday's loss to Vancouver and stopped 26 of 29 shots he faced. While he didn't start the game, it was the fourth straight in which he has played for Arizona.
Analysis: Neither Devan Dubnyk nor Smith was great in this one, but Dubnyk has been the Coyotes' better keeper this year. His hot start has faded, but Dubnyk's 2.79 GAA and .917 save percentage gives his team the best chance to win. He should be in line for more playing time and may wrest the No. 1 job away from Smith permanently.
