Coyotes' Dubnyk Wins Fourth Straight

News: Devan Dubnyk stopped 40 of 43 shots in regulation before denying all three Sharks' shooters in the shootout for his fourth straight win Saturday against San Jose.
Analysis: Devan Dubnyk is now 5-0-1 this season with a .926 save percentage and 2.34 GAA. Considering starer Mike Smith has lost five straight games, the team won't hesitate to start Dubnyk, especially considering that the former Oilers has given up only four goals over his last three games. Dubnyk is emerging as one of the best backup goalies this season.

Coyotes' Dubnyk Will Start Saturday

News: Dubnuk will start in net for Saturday's game against the Sharks, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: Devan Dubnyk will get the start Saturday in the first of two games on consecutive nights for the Coyotes. Dubnyk has played well in his last two starts, winning both and allowing just one total goal.

Coyotes' Dubnyk Strong In Win Over Oilers

News: Devan Dubnyk stopped 33 of 34 shots Sunday in a win over his former team in Edmonton.
Analysis: Devan Dubnyk was named the first star of the game and has not only started two straight games for the Coyotes, but he has starred in both games, including a shutout Friday. With Mike Smith playing poorly in front of him, Dubnyk could start a goalie controversy in the desert if he keeps up this level of play.

Coyotes' Dubnyk Will Start On Sunday

News: Devan Dubnyk will get the start against the Oilers on Sunday, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: Devan Dubnyk will make his fifth start of the season after completing a 5-0 shutout against the Canucks on Friday. The 28-year-old goalie has been solid as Mike Smith's backup this season, compiling a 3-0-1 record while allowing 2.54 goals per game in five appearances.

Coyotes' Dubnyk Stymies Canucks

News: Devan Dubnyk pitched a 35-save shutout in Friday's 5-0 rout of the Canucks.
Analysis: Making just his fourth start of the season, Devan Dubnyk weathered a first period that saw the 'Yotes outshot 12-3 by the home squad before eventually going on to post a goose egg. The former Oiler had to wait 12 days between starts after his last outing against Washington on Nov. 2 featured five goals against, but he could garner more consideration between Arizona's pipes if workhorse Mike Smith (4-9-0, 3.43 GAA, .889 save percentage) continues to struggle.

Coyotes' Dubnyk Gets Friday Start

News: Devan Dubnyk will be between the pipes Friday against the Canucks, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: With Mike Smith taking his third straight loss Thursday against the Flames and letting in a total of nine goals over his last two turns, coach Dave Tippett will turn to Devan Dubnyk in hope of finding better results in the net. Smith still has plenty of job security by virtue of the six-year, $34 million contract extension he signed in 2013, making it difficult for Dubnyk to see a steady diet of starts now matter how well he performs when called upon. He's made just four previous appearances on the season, going 2-0-1 with a 3.30 GAA and .879 save percentage.

Coyotes' Dubnyk Picks Up Win

News: Devan Dubnyk allowed five goals, but still picked up the win in Sunday's 6-5 victory over the Capitals.
Analysis: He faced 37 shots, so he was still able to post his highest save total of the season despite the five goals against. Devan Dubnyk has been serviceable in three starts going 2-0-1, but he's still the backup to Mike Smith.

Coyotes Start Dubnyk Sunday

News: Devan Dubnyk will start between the pipes for the Coyotes on Sunday, Sarah McLellan of NHL.com reports.
Analysis: Devan Dubnyk allowed three goals on 26 shots in his last start Tuesday against the Predators. He will get another chance Sunday with the team's primary goaltender (Mike Smith) also struggling, and will face the Capitals.

Coyotes' Dubnyk Allows Three In Shootout Loss

News: Devan Dubnyk stopped 23 of 26 shots and gave up two shootout tallies in Tuesday's loss to the Predators.
Analysis: This was not as good a performance as Devan Dubnyk's first time out, and it certainly won't help him carve out a bigger chunk of the playing time behind Mike Smith, who should be back in between the pipes Thursday in Minnesota.

Coyotes' Dubnyk Gets The Call Tuesday

News: Devan Dubnyk will be in goal for Tuesday's game against the Predators.
Analysis: Primary goaltender Mike Smith has given up six goals in two of his three starts this season, so Devan Dubnyk will get the nod Tuesday to give Smith a mental break. Dubnyk picked up the win in an overtime victory over the Kings in his lone other start this season.

Coyotes' Dubnyk Makes 24 Saves In Win

News: Devan Dubnyk made 24 saves on 26 shots in Saturday's win over Los Angeles.
Analysis: A great game from Devan Dubnyk, who was making his first NHL start since Jan. 24. Dubnyk isn't expected to see much action this season behind No. 1 goaltender Mike Smith, but after he stood tall against the defending Stanley Cup champions on Saturday, the Coyotes may feel more confident giving Smith an extra night off every now and then.

Coyotes' Dubnyk To Make Team Debut Saturday

News: Devan Dubnyk has been confirmed as the starter in goal Saturday against the Kings, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: It's a bit of a surprising decision that coach Dave Tippett didn't stick with No. 1 goalie Mike Smith on Saturday, since Arizona played its first game Thursday and won't play its next game until Oct. 15. However, Smith didn't exactly help his case for the start by allowing six goals in the opener, so Tippett will turn to Devan Dubnyk as the Coyotes attempt to nail down win No. 1 on the new campaign. Dubnyk was dreadful while splitting time between the Oilers, Predators and Canadiens last season, posting a collective .891 save percentage.

Coyotes' Dubnyk Loses To Former Team

News: Devan Dubnyk took the loss Wednesday against his old team - Edmonton - giving three goals on 30 shots.
Analysis: Devan Dubnyk will back up Mike Smith in Arizona this year as he looks to rehabilitate his career coming off an awful season in 2013-14. He is not in line to see all that many starts barring an injury to Smith.

Dubnyk Signs With Coyotes

News: Devan Dubnyk has signed a one-year deal with the Coyotes worth $800,000, the Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: With Thomas Greiss having signed with the Penguins, Devan Dubnyk (a former starter with the Oilers) now slots in as Mike Smith's top backup for the Coyotes. He regressed badly last season, posting a 3.36 GAA and .894 save percentage over 32 games, but with a far better defense in front of him in Phoenix, it shouldn't be hard for Dubnyk to improve those crooked numbers.

Habs Reassign Dubnyk

News: The Canadiens reassigned Devan Dubnyk to AHL Hamilton on Wednesday, Renaud Lavoie of Journal de Montreal reports.
Analysis: Devan Dubnyk was reassigned to Hamilton almost immediately after being acquired from the Predators on Wednesday, and will provide some experienced organizational depth for the Canadiens as the season winds down.

Habs Acquire Dubnyk

News: The Predators have traded Devan Dubnyk to the Canadiens in exchange for future considerations, Dave Stubbs of the Montreal Gazette reports.
Analysis: With Carey Price still dealing with a lower body injury, Devan Dubnyk gives the Habs an experienced backup option in goal for the time being behind Peter Budaj.

Preds' Dubnyk Placed On Waivers

News: Devan Dubnyk was placed on waivers Monday, TSN's Bob McKenzie reports.
Analysis: The mid-January move to Nashville never allowed Devan Dubnyk to rehabilitate his value, as he made just two starts and was throttled for nine goals on 60 shot attempts. With Pekka Rinne expected to return to the net for the Predators' game on Tuesday, Dubnyk became expendable. His passable career production prior to this season may convince another squad to roll the dice and claim him off waivers.

Predators' Dubnyk Loses Second Straight

News: Devan Dubnyk stopped 27 of 31 shots during the Predators' 5-4 shootout loss to the Flames on Friday.
Analysis: Devan Dubnyk was looking good through the first two periods, stopping 14 of 15 shots, but wilted in the third period under a 15-shot attack. He allowed the Flames to tie the game late in the third period and then allowed two goals during the shootout for the loss. It was Dubnyk's second straight loss as a member of the Predators and he is now 11-18-3 on the season with a 3.43 GAA and .891 save percentage.

Preds' Dubnyk In Goal Friday

News: Devan Dubnyk will start between the pipes for Friday's game against the Flames, the Predators' Color Analyst Stu Grimson reports.
Analysis: Devan Dubnyk will be making his second start as a member of the Predators after his debut did not go well. He allowed five goals to Colorado on 29 shot attempts. Though Calgary does not have the strongest offense, Dubnyk may be a risky play until he settles in at goal.

Dubnyk Makes Preds' Debut And Loses

News: Devan Dubnyk made 24 saves in Saturday's 5-4 loss to the Avalanche on Saturday night. It was his debut with the Predators.
Analysis: He has the potential to seriously improve his numbers inside the protective shell of the Nashville system, but Saturday night wasn't a great start.

Dubnyk To Make Predators Debut Saturday

News: Devan Dubnyk will be in net for the Predators when they face the Avalanche on Saturday, Elliotte Friedman of Hockey Night in Canada reports.
Analysis: Devan Dubnyk will make his first start for Nashville since being traded earlier in the week. For Edmonton, he was 11-17-2 with a 3.36 GAA and .894 save percentage, so there's little place to go but up for him. Keep an eye on him though to check his progress with a new team.

Oilers Trade Dubnyk To Nashville

News: Devan Dubnyk was traded to the Predators on Wednesday in exchange for forward Matt Hendricks, Elliotte Friedman of Hockey Night in Canada reports.
Analysis: With a 3.36 GAA and .894 save percentage through 32 appearances, Devan Dubnyk is in the midst of a supremely disappointing season and no longer looked to be the long-term solution in Edmonton. That certainly won't be the case in Nashville either, with Pekka Rinne signed to a seven-year, $49 million contract, but the change of scenery could help him restore some value. Rinne is still likely to miss at least a few more weeks due to a hip infection, providing Dubnyk with the chance to displace Marek Mazanec and Carter Hutton for regular duty, as both of those goalies have been struggling much as Dubnyk did in Edmonton. With a better defense in front of him in Nashville, Dubnyk might at least prove to be somewhat competent for the Predators.

Oilers' Dubnyk Lets In Five In Loss

News: Devan Dubnyk let in five goals on 41 shots in a loss to the Blackhawks on Sunday.

Oilers Start Dubnyk On Sunday

News: Devan Dubnyk will start in goal for the Oilers when they face the Blackhawks on Sunday, Edmonton play-by-play man Jack Michaels reports.
Analysis: Devan Dubnyk has seen some slight improvements to his game so the Oilers are going to see just how much they can get out of him for now. He is coming off a 4-3 overtime win against the Penguins on Friday and is currently 11-16-2 with a 3.30 GAA and .895 save percentage.

Oilers' Dubnyk Has 25 Saves In Win

News: Devan Dubnyk stopped 25 of 28 shots during the Oilers' 4-3 come-from-behind, overtime win Friday.
Analysis: It was a rare start and an even more rare win for Devan Dubnyk who hadn't started a game since a five-goal debacle on Jan. 2. He also showed a little life when he took a two-minute roughing call for mixing it up with Evgeni Malkin towards the end of the second period after the forward tried to clear his stick down the ice. Dubnyk is still considered the backup to Ilya Bryzgalov and is just 11-16-2 on the season with a 3.30 GAA and .895 save percentage.
