Habs Reassign Dubnyk

News: The Canadiens reassigned Devan Dubnyk to AHL Hamilton on Wednesday, Renaud Lavoie of Journal de Montreal reports.
Analysis: Devan Dubnyk was reassigned to Hamilton almost immediately after being acquired from the Predators on Wednesday, and will provide some experienced organizational depth for the Canadiens as the season winds down.

Habs Acquire Dubnyk

News: The Predators have traded Devan Dubnyk to the Canadiens in exchange for future considerations, Dave Stubbs of the Montreal Gazette reports.
Analysis: With Carey Price still dealing with a lower body injury, Devan Dubnyk gives the Habs an experienced backup option in goal for the time being behind Peter Budaj.

Preds' Dubnyk Placed On Waivers

News: Devan Dubnyk was placed on waivers Monday, TSN's Bob McKenzie reports.
Analysis: The mid-January move to Nashville never allowed Devan Dubnyk to rehabilitate his value, as he made just two starts and was throttled for nine goals on 60 shot attempts. With Pekka Rinne expected to return to the net for the Predators' game on Tuesday, Dubnyk became expendable. His passable career production prior to this season may convince another squad to roll the dice and claim him off waivers.

Predators' Dubnyk Loses Second Straight

News: Devan Dubnyk stopped 27 of 31 shots during the Predators' 5-4 shootout loss to the Flames on Friday.
Analysis: Devan Dubnyk was looking good through the first two periods, stopping 14 of 15 shots, but wilted in the third period under a 15-shot attack. He allowed the Flames to tie the game late in the third period and then allowed two goals during the shootout for the loss. It was Dubnyk's second straight loss as a member of the Predators and he is now 11-18-3 on the season with a 3.43 GAA and .891 save percentage.

Preds' Dubnyk In Goal Friday

News: Devan Dubnyk will start between the pipes for Friday's game against the Flames, the Predators' Color Analyst Stu Grimson reports.
Analysis: Devan Dubnyk will be making his second start as a member of the Predators after his debut did not go well. He allowed five goals to Colorado on 29 shot attempts. Though Calgary does not have the strongest offense, Dubnyk may be a risky play until he settles in at goal.

Dubnyk Makes Preds' Debut And Loses

News: Devan Dubnyk made 24 saves in Saturday's 5-4 loss to the Avalanche on Saturday night. It was his debut with the Predators.
Analysis: He has the potential to seriously improve his numbers inside the protective shell of the Nashville system, but Saturday night wasn't a great start.

Dubnyk To Make Predators Debut Saturday

News: Devan Dubnyk will be in net for the Predators when they face the Avalanche on Saturday, Elliotte Friedman of Hockey Night in Canada reports.
Analysis: Devan Dubnyk will make his first start for Nashville since being traded earlier in the week. For Edmonton, he was 11-17-2 with a 3.36 GAA and .894 save percentage, so there's little place to go but up for him. Keep an eye on him though to check his progress with a new team.

Oilers Trade Dubnyk To Nashville

News: Devan Dubnyk was traded to the Predators on Wednesday in exchange for forward Matt Hendricks, Elliotte Friedman of Hockey Night in Canada reports.
Analysis: With a 3.36 GAA and .894 save percentage through 32 appearances, Devan Dubnyk is in the midst of a supremely disappointing season and no longer looked to be the long-term solution in Edmonton. That certainly won't be the case in Nashville either, with Pekka Rinne signed to a seven-year, $49 million contract, but the change of scenery could help him restore some value. Rinne is still likely to miss at least a few more weeks due to a hip infection, providing Dubnyk with the chance to displace Marek Mazanec and Carter Hutton for regular duty, as both of those goalies have been struggling much as Dubnyk did in Edmonton. With a better defense in front of him in Nashville, Dubnyk might at least prove to be somewhat competent for the Predators.

Oilers' Dubnyk Lets In Five In Loss

News: Devan Dubnyk let in five goals on 41 shots in a loss to the Blackhawks on Sunday.
Analysis: Devan Dubnyk's awful season continues, as he has a .894 save percentage and 3.36 GAA so far.

Oilers Start Dubnyk On Sunday

News: Devan Dubnyk will start in goal for the Oilers when they face the Blackhawks on Sunday, Edmonton play-by-play man Jack Michaels reports.
Analysis: Devan Dubnyk has seen some slight improvements to his game so the Oilers are going to see just how much they can get out of him for now. He is coming off a 4-3 overtime win against the Penguins on Friday and is currently 11-16-2 with a 3.30 GAA and .895 save percentage.

Oilers' Dubnyk Has 25 Saves In Win

News: Devan Dubnyk stopped 25 of 28 shots during the Oilers' 4-3 come-from-behind, overtime win Friday.
Analysis: It was a rare start and an even more rare win for Devan Dubnyk who hadn't started a game since a five-goal debacle on Jan. 2. He also showed a little life when he took a two-minute roughing call for mixing it up with Evgeni Malkin towards the end of the second period after the forward tried to clear his stick down the ice. Dubnyk is still considered the backup to Ilya Bryzgalov and is just 11-16-2 on the season with a 3.30 GAA and .895 save percentage.

Oilers' Dubnyk Gets Nod Friday

News: Devan Dubnyk will be in the net Friday vs. the Penguins, 630CHED.com reports.
Analysis: After sitting the last three games following a disastrous showing last Thursday vs. the Sharks in which he surrendered five goals on 36 shots, Devan Dubnyk will give Ilya Bryzgalov a breather Friday. Dubnyk has shown no signs of breaking out of his season-long slump of late and can't be trusted to deliver a good outing against a prolific Penguins attack.

Sharks Feed On Oilers' Dubnyk

News: Devan Dubnyk was tagged for five goals on 31 shots in Thursday's loss to the Sharks.
Analysis: Dub's now lost four of his last five outings, with the lone exception a Dec. 27 shutout of Calgary. Unfortunately, even with that blanking, he's given up 15 goals that span -- which, sadly, represents an improvement over his season numbers.

OIlers Go With Dubnyk On Thursday

News: Devan Dubnyk will get the start Thursday against the Sharks, Bob Stauffer of 630 CHED reports.
Analysis: After he held the Flames scoreless for his second shutout of the season in his last start Friday, Devan Dubnyk is being rewarded by coach Dallas Eakins with his second start in four games. Given that his GAA still stands at a woeful 3.24 for the season, it's hard to envision Dubnyk turning in a second consecutive excellent performance.

Oilers' Dubnyk Post Shutout Friday Versus Flames

News: Devan Dubnyk stopped all 27 shots he faced in a 2-0 shutout against Calgary on Friday.
Analysis: Devan Dubnyk has been up and down a lot this season, but this was a good night for him. Ilya Bryzgalov has already been announced as Saturday's starter, so Dubnyk's good work may not earn him much more playing time right away.

Oilers Starting Dubnyk On Friday

News: Devan Dubnyk will be in the crease Friday vs. the Flames, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports.
Analysis: Coach Dallas Eakins appears to have settled on Ilya Bryzgalov as the team's top goalie option, but Devan Dubnyk isn't quite out of the picture just yet after Bryzgalov turned in a recent stinker. Dubnyk's overall body of work is far more disappointing than Bryzgalov's, so he may need a huge performance against the Flames in order to convince Eakins to work him back into the goalie rotation on a more consistent basis.

Oilers' Dubnyk Stops 35 Shots In Loss

News: Devan Dubnyk did his best to give the Oilers a chance, but his 35 saves were not enough in a 4-2 loss against Colorado on Thursday.
Analysis: Despite being outshot 17 to 5 in the first period, the Oilers held a 1-0 lead, thanks to Devan Dubnyk. Taylor Hall's ill-advised unsportsmanlike penalty cost the team as the Avs capitalized on the power play. Dubnyk has allowed a league-worst 81 goals, although not all of the blame should be placed on his shoulders.

Oilers' Dubnyk Gets Nod Thursday

News: Coach Dallas Eakins confirmed Devan Dubnyk will start Thursday against the Avalanche.
Analysis: Devan Dubnyk's immense struggles have been well-documented, but the Avalanche are one of the few teams he's had some history of success against. In five starts against Colorado over the past two seasons, Dubnyk owns a 4-1-0 record with just nine goals allowed. The Oilers will hope that winning formula holds true once again Thursday.

Oilers Expect To Start Dubnyk On Thursday

News: Devan Dubnyk is expected to get the starting nod Thursday against the Avalanche, TSN Edmonton's Ryan Rishaug reports.
Analysis: Although Devan Dubnyk's recent performance would hardly seem to warrant the appointment, it appears coach Dallas Eakins is trying to ease Ilya Bryzgalov (concussion) back into action after he started Sunday and Tuesday. Albeit in a small sample, Bryzgalov has clearly been the better of the two goalies this season and should eventually push Dubnyk to a full-time backup role once he's further removed from the concussion.

Oilers' Dubnyk Loses 14th On Friday

News: Devan Dubnyk stopped 36 of 40 shots during the Oilers' 4-0 loss to the Canucks on Friday.
Analysis: It was another tough night for the Oilers' netminder as the defense let him down again which resulted in him under perpetual fire throughout the game. His GAA was 3.36 heading into the game and this only makes it climb higher as he has now allowed 21 goals over his last six games.

Oilers' Dubnyk Gets Start Friday

News: Despite a disastrous showing Thursday against the Bruins, Devan Dubnyk will be back in the net Friday vs. the Canucks.
Analysis: With backup Jason LaBarbera not representing a great alternative, coach Dallas Eakins will simply bite the bullet here and hope that Devan Dubnyk can prove more competent against the Canucks. The Oilers are just playing the waiting game with Ilya Bryzgalov (concussion) nearing a return from IR, which would push Dubnyk to backup duty.

Oilers' Dubnyk Pulled Early In Loss

News: Devan Dubnyk was pulled from Thursday's loss to the Bruins after allowing three first-period goals on 18 shot attempts.
Analysis: Just when Devan Dubnyk seems to be taking a step forward in digging himself out of his miserable start to the season, he delivers an outing like this that shakes any confidence fantasy owners might want to have in him. Backup Jason LaBarbera at least kept the game competitive in relief of Dubnyk, but the Oilers' goalie situation remains in utter despair. Dubnyk will almost certainly be supplanted as the No. 1 netminder once Ilya Bryzgalov (concussion) is cleared to return from IR.

Oilers To Start Dubnyk On Thursday

News: Devan Dubnyk will be in the crease Thursday against the Bruins, NESN's Jack Edwards reports.
Analysis: Although the Bruins are a bad matchup on paper for Devan Dubnyk, they'll be without several key players due to injury for Thursday's game, including star goaltender Tuukka Rask, who is out with the flu. Dubnyk will also have the benefit of skating on his own home ice, which could allow him to escape with a rare victory against an above-average team.

Oilers' Dubnyk Wins Ugly

News: Devan Dubnyk allowed four goals on 28 shots Tuesday against Carolina, but came away with a 5-4 overtime win.
Analysis: After turning in a pair of solid outings before Tuesday, Devan Dubnyk returned to his normally underwhelming self, but got plenty of offensive help. He'll likely give way to the convalescing Ilya Bryzgalov as soon as the Russian veteran is ready to come off IR.

Oilers Go With Dubnyk On Tuesday

News: Devan Dubnyk will be in goal Tuesday against the Hurricanes.
Analysis: Devan Dubnyk has shown some encouraging improvement, allowing two goals or fewer in three of his past four starts, but it's hardly enough to make him a reliable fantasy option, considering the production he's provided this season. With 24 games under his belt, he still has yet to surpass the .900 save percentage threshold.
