Oilers Assign Danis To AHL

News: Yann Danis was assigned to the AHL's Oklahoma City after Tuesday's game against the Avalanche, the Calgary Herald reports.
Analysis: Yann Danis was recalled on Feb. 27 and played in two of the eight games over that stretch. In the two games that he did play in, he had a total of 38 saves, a save percentage of .844, and allowed seven goals. The move was made to make room for Nikolai Khabibulin, who is returning from injury.

Oilers' Danis Steps In For Win

News: Yann Danis came in for an injured Devan Dubnyk against the Blackhawks on Sunday. He played 30:15 and made 21 saves on 24 shots in earning his first win of the season.
Analysis: If Dubnyk misses any more time with this injury, Yann Danis may get the call to start, but that doesn't necessarily make him a good fantasy option.

Oilers, Danis Roughed Up

News: Yann Danis, playing in relief, allowed four goals on 21 shots in Friday's 6-0 loss to Nashville.
Analysis: Yann Danis was recalled recently by the Oilers but he likely won't be used too often if results like this become typical. Look for Danis to start in a pinch when the Oil aim to give Devan Dubnyk a rest.

Oilers Waive Yann Danis

News: Yann Danis has been waived by the Oilers, according to RDS' Renaud Lavoie.

Edmonton Places Danis On Waivers

News: Yann Danis was placed on waivers Tuesday, according to the Edmonton Journal.
Analysis: Yann Danis needs to pass through waivers before the Oilers can send him down to the AHL. This move signifies that Nikolai Khabibulin is ready to return to the team.

Danis Sees Relief Work For Oilers

News: Yann Danis saw his first NHL action of the year Tuesday, stopping all 14 shots he faced in relief of Devan Dubnyk in a loss to San Jose.
Analysis: A career backup and minor leaguer, he's of minimal fantasy interest with Dubnyk and Nikolai Khabibulin (when healthy) manning the pipes for Edmonton.

Oilers' Danis Signs One-Year Contract

News: Yann Danis signed a one-year contract with the Oilers on Sunday, according to the Oilers web site.

Oilers' Danis Voted Best Goalie In The AHL

News: Yann Danis was voted the best goalie in the AHL this past season, according to the Edmonton Journal.
Analysis: Unfortunately for Yann Danis, unless there is an injury to Nikolai Khabibulin or Devan Dubnyk, Danis has very little chance to start next season in Edmonton.

Danis plays for a period

News: Devils G Martin Brodeur only lasted two periods during Sunday's 5-1 loss to the Flyers. New Jersey outshot Philadelphia 33-25, but Brodeur, the NHL career wins leader, allowed five goals for the fifth time this season -- twice to Philadelphia. He was pulled before the start of the third period in favor of Yann Danis, who made five saves on six shots. Brodeur had 15 saves.
Analysis: Even though it was a relief outing, Danis should be happy he saw game action. He has played in only 12 games since coming to New Jersey in the offseason. He had to know he wasn't going to get much PT as long as Brodeur was healthy. Danis continues to have minimal Fantasy appeal.

Danis doesn't stop anyone in SH

News: Devils G Yann Danis stopped 25 shots in place of Martin Brodeur, but he allowed all three skaters he faced to score in a shootout, as Toronto prevailed with a 2-1 decision Thursday. Danis allowed the first goal of the game to Phil Kessel at 18:54. He then stopped 17 shots over the final two periods and overtime before falling in the shootout.
Analysis: Danis made his second start of the month for the Devils, who rolled into Toronto a day after a hard-fought 5-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins. Devils coach Jacques Lemaire said he would give Brodeur a few extra nights off down the stretch, so he is fresh for the playoffs. However, we don't expect Danis to make more than one start a week. Danis continues to have minimal Fantasy appeal, while the Devils TG is a high-end option.

Danis loses in rare start

News: Devils G Yann Danis stopped 25 shots in Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Islanders. Danis started for the first time since Feb. 13 as New Jersey decided to give Martin Brodeur the night off.
Analysis: Danis made only his 10th appearance of the season on Saturday, his fifth start. He remains nothing but a handcuff to Brodeur in the deepest of Fantasy leagues. The TG Devils remain a must-start Fantasy play.

Danis replaces Brodeur in Saturday loss

News: Devils G Yann Danis stopped all eight shots he faced after replacing an ineffective Martin Brodeur in Saturday's 5-2 loss to the Hurricanes.
Analysis: Danis has made nine appearances this season in relief of Brodeur, and has put up decent numbers with a GAA under 2.00. He remains nothing but a handcuff to Brodeur in the deepest of Fantasy leagues.

Danis drops start as Devils shut out

News: New Jersey was blanked by the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday as the offense couldn't get anything going against Jean-Sebastien Giguere. New Jersey goalie Yann Danis allowed one goal per period in the 3-0 loss. Danis stopped 23 shots in the loss but the three goals he allowed were more than enough for the Maple Leafs to get the shutout win.
Analysis: Danis saw his first start in February after making three in January. He is nothing but a handcuff to Martin Brodeur in Fantasy and since he doesn't play often enough, he has low-end Fantasy appeal. The TG Devils remain a must-start Fantasy play.

Brodeur to rest up Tuesday

News: 640AM out of Toronto reports that G Yann Danis, not Martin Brodeur, will face the Maple Leafs on Tuesday.
Analysis: Danis has only made four appearances for the Devils since the start of December, which tells you exactly how heavily the team has been relying on the veteran Brodeur, who remains a must-start option in all leagues along with the Devils TG. Danis is just a handcuff for Brodeur's owners in deeper formats.

Brodeur lifted for Danis Tuesday

News: New Jersey G Martin Brodeur was not at his best on Tuesday night against Ottawa. While Brodeur has owned the Senators of late, he was far from his best on Tuesday, allowing three goals on just 12 shots. Yann Danis started the third for the Devils, who pulled Brodeur for the third time in ten games. Danis stopped all six shots he faced in the 3-0 shutout loss.
Analysis: Brodeur has alternated wins and losses over his last five starts and has definitely been shaky of late. Still, he's 31-16-1 on the season and remains a solid No. 1 Fantasy G for use in any league. The Devils TG is also a must-start option. Danis has low-end Fantasy appeal as he doesn't see enough time in net.

Danis makes sixth appearance of season

News: Devils backup G Yann Danis made his sixth appearance of the season Monday when he replaced an ineffective Martin Brodeur in a 4-0 loss to the Islanders. Danis stopped all 14 shots he faced.
Analysis: Danis is a perfect 3-0-0 this season, but rarely sees much action stuck behind Brodeur. Until he starts playing more, and that will only happen if Brodeur gets injured, Danis has marginal Fantasy appeal.

Danis plays last half of suspended game

News: Yann Danis was in net on Sunday for the Devils to finish off a previously suspended game against the Lightning. Tampa Bay led 3-0 with 9:12 left in the second period when play was suspended Friday night because a lighting problem created a safety issue for the players. Martin Brodeur started the game, but he made only four saves on seven shots. Danis finished off the 4-2 loss, allowing a third-period goal to Steven Stamkos. Danis finished with six saves.
Analysis: Danis didn't take the loss because Brodeur allowed three goals and his perfect record (3-0-0) still stands. Unfortunately, Danis made only his fifth appearance of the season on Sunday. Until he starts playing more, and that will only happen if Brodeur gets injured, Danis has marginal Fantasy appeal.

Danis to finish suspended game

News: The Devils announced that Yann Danis will finish off the suspended game vs. the Lightning on Sunday, not Martin Brodeur.
Analysis: This news hurts Brodeur's owners a little, but it was doubtful that the Devils were going to pull this game out and avoid handing the veteran a loss. Danis remains just a handcuff for Brodeur's owners, while Brodeur is still a must-start option in all formats.
