Kostitsyn Signs With KHL

News: Andrei Kostitsyn has signed a one-year deal with Traktor Chelyabinsk of the KHL on Friday, according to TSN.ca.
Analysis: Andrei Kostitsyn scored 16 goals and totaled 36 points in 72 games last season between the Predators and Canadiens. Kostitsyn was successful for most of seven seasons he spent with the Canadiens. With this contract, he may play in the KHL regardless of if the NHL season is locked out.

A. Kostitsyn Likely To Return To Preds' Roster For Game 5

News: Andrei Kostitsyn will likely return to the Nashville lineup for Game 5 on Monday, according to TSN.ca.
Analysis: Preds' coach Barry Trotz told reporters on Saturday that there was a 'high probability' that both A.K. 46 and Alexander Radulov would return to the lineup after missing two games. The two players were suspended one game (Game 3) for violating a team rule and Trotz kept them out for Game 4 after deciding to go forward with the same roster he used in the win in Game 3.

Preds' Kostitsyn Out for Game 4

News: Andrei Kostitsyn will not play in Friday's Game 4 against the Coyotes, Joshua Cooper of the Tennessean reports.
Analysis: The Predators were able to win their first game of the series Wednesday when both Andrei Kostitsyn and Alexander Radulov sat due to a violation of team rules. It looks like coach Barry Trotz is unwilling to mess with success, as both will sit Friday as well.

Preds' Kostitsyn Takes Part in Optional Skate

News: Andrei Kostitsyn took part in Friday's optional skate, Joshua Cooper of the Tennessean reports.
Analysis: After violating team rules, both Andrei Kostitsyn and Alexander Radulov were suspended for Wednesday's Game 3. They both took part in Friday skate, and it appears they're trying to work themselves back into good standing with the coaches. It's still uncertain whether either of them will suit up for Friday's Game 4 against Phoenix.

Preds' Kostitsyn No Lock To Return Friday

News: Though Andrei Kostitsyn's one-game suspension is up, it is not a given that he will return to the Preds' lineup Friday against the Coyotes, the Tennessean reports.
Analysis: The Predators won Wednesday's Game 3 with both Andrei Kostitsyn and Alexander Radulov suspended and there's a chance that coach Barry Trotz won't mess with success, with the team currently down 2-1 to Coyotes.

Predators' Kostitsyn Out For Game 3 Due To Violation of Team Rules

News: Andrei Kostitsyn will not play in Wednesday's Game 3 against the Coyotes due to a violation of team rules, the Predators' official Twitter page reports.
Analysis: Both Andrei Kostitsyn and Alexander Radulov will sit out Wednesday's contest due to an unspecified violation of team rules. "We have always operated with a team-first mentality and philosophy," Predators GM David Poile said Tuesday. "Violating team rules is not fair to our team and their teammates."

Goal For Preds' Kostitsyn

News: Andrei Kostitsyn scored the game-winning goal Sunday against Chicago, the 16th time he's found the back of the net this season. He was also a plus-3.
Analysis: Andrei Kostitsyn got off to a good start after being traded to Nashville, but he only has two points in his last eight games.

Preds' Kostitsyn Skating On Fourth Line

News: Andrei Kostitsyn skated just 12:27 during Tuesday's 6-3 loss to Edmonton, the lowest amount of ice time he's seen since joining the Preds at the trade deadline.
Analysis: Andrei Kostitsyn got off to a hot start in Nashville with six points (3G, 3A) in his first five games; however, he's put up nothing but goose eggs since then, and his ice time has declined accordingly. He's currently skating on the Preds' fourth line with Nick Spaling and Matt Halischuk, which does not bode well for any sort of offensive rebound going forward. Bench him immediately and look for scoring help elsewhere.

A. Kostitsyn Scores Twice In Preds' Win

News: Andrei Kostitsyn posted two power-play markers in Saturday's showdown win over the Red Wings. The second tally, his 15th of the season, was the game-winner.
Analysis: He's responded well to his new surroundings, posting three goals and three assists in his first five games in a Predators sweater. His brother Sergei assisted on both goals; that should be a productive pairing as the regular season winds down.

Two More Assists For Preds' Kostitsyn

News: Andrei Kostitsyn had two assists in Tuesday's loss against the Kings.
Analysis: Even though he's had four points in his last two games, Andrei Kostitsyn hasn't picked up any appreciable power-play time with his new team just yet.

A. Kostitsyn Gets First Points As A Predator

News: Andrei Kostitsyn led the way Saturday for the Predators with a goal and one assist in a 3-1 win over the Panthers.
Analysis: The points are his first in his new uniform and he could provide some solid value going forward if he rediscovers his touch. This is a good start. Monitor and get ready to snag him off the wire.

Adjustment Period Expected For Preds' Kostitsyn

News: Andrei Kostitsyn will be brought along slowly as he becomes accustomed to his new team's style of play, according to the Tennessean.
Analysis: When the Preds acquired Andrei's brother Sergei from Montreal in 2010, coach Barry Trotz often discussed the differences between the Habs' system and Nashville's - Montreal plays with less pace and more patience, while the Preds play a more uptempo game, relying on speed and forechecking. It took Sergei several weeks to really feel comfortable in Nashville, an adjustment process that Andrei will likely need to go through as well. Bottom line, fantasy owners shouldn't be surprised if Andrei Kostitsyn doesn't hit the scoresheet with great regularity in his first few games in a Preds uniform.

Kositsyn To Debut For Preds Tuesday

News: Andrei Kostitsyn is expected to make his Nashville debut Tuesday at Carolina, the Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Following his trade from Montreal, Andrei Kostitsyn travelled to Raleigh on Monday in order to meet up with his new teammates, leaving himself plenty of time to get into the lineup Tuesday night. It's uncertain which line combinations Barry Trotz will go with, but Kostitsyn is expected to play a top-six role along with his brother Sergei.

Kostitsyn Quiet In Preds' Debut

News: Andrei Kostitsyn finished Tuesday's loss to Carolina with no points in 12:53 of ice time.
Analysis: Andrei Kostitsyn did not see power play time for the Predators, but Nashville had just one chance on the man-advantage, so keep an eye on that situation. Given Kostitsyn's lack of scoring this season, it's hard to endorse him in Nashville. That being said, he's worth a look in deep leagues if you believe a reunion with his brother and a change of scenery can help.

Kostitsyn Heading To Nashville

News: Andrei Kostitsyn has been traded from the Habs to the Predators for a second-round pick and the conditional pick from the Hal Gill trade, according to Pierre LeBrun.
Analysis: It's no surprise that the Habs dealt Andrei Kostitsyn, a pending free agent who has just 24 points in 53 games this season. A change of scenery could help the enigmatic forward, who will be reunited with his brother Sergei in Nashville. Keep an eye on him, but his ups and downs have been frustrating fantasy owners for years; that isn't likely to change now.

Montreal's Kostitsyn Wants To Stay

News: Andrei Kostitsyn, oft rumored to be heading out of Montreal by Monday's trade deadline, said he wants to remain with the organization, the Globe & Mail reports.
Analysis: As we wake up Friday to find the Canadiens in last place of the Eastern Conference, you can bet changes are in store for the NHL's most storied franchise. And trading Andrei Kostitsyn, who becomes an unrestricted free agent in July, is near the top of the house-cleaning list.

Montreal's Kostitsyn Plays Wednesday

News: Andrei Kostitsyn, who was a game-time decision Wednesday, skated 13:00 minutes in Montreal's shootout loss to Boston.
Analysis: Andrei Kostitsyn was benched for large stretches of the Canadiens' previous game for what said to be some careless turnovers. On Wednesday, he was much better and had three shots and three hits in the loss to Boston.

Kostitsyn A Game-Time Decision For Habs

News: Andrei Kostitsyn, who played a total of 4:20 in Montreal's previous game, will be a game-time decision Wednesday night against Boston, CJAD-AM Radio reports.
Analysis: Things are devolving pretty quickly for Andrei Kostitsyn and the organization. He denies requesting a trade, according to CJAD-AM, but only with a "not yet." Kostitsyn was shown the bench in Monday's loss to the Hurricanes after turning the puck over too much. "I saw a problem with turnovers," assistant coach Randy Ladouceur explained to Montreal Gazette, when asked about Kostitsyn. "Three shifts, three turnovers that were painfully obvious. He's a veteran guy who should know better."

Montreal's Kostitsyn Gets Two Points

News: Andrei Kostitsyn scored a goal and assisted on another in Montreal's 5-4 shootout loss to Pittsburgh on Friday.

Montreal's Kostitsyn On Line With Hot Player

News: Andrei Kostitsyn assisted on two goals Wednesday night in Montreal's 7-3 win over Winnipeg.
Analysis: As interim head coach Randy Cunneyworth continues to juggle his lines, he may have hit on a good combination. Andrei Kostitsyn skated with Lars Eller, who scored four goals against the Jets, and Travis Moen (three assists).

Kostitsyn Scores Again For Habs

News: Andrei Kostitsyn scored his second goal in as many games in Tuesday's loss to Columbus.

Canadiens' Kostitsyn Scores Game-Winning Goal Saturday

News: Andrei Kostitsyn recorded two points (one goal, one assist) in Saturday's win over the Kings.
Analysis: Andrei Kostitsyn had the game-winning goal in the contest. He's recorded 12 points on the season (seven goals, five assists) to go with a plus-1 rating in 17 games, and seems to have gotten himself far from the early-season doghouse.
