Preds' Rinne Allows Four Goals In Game 6 Loss

News: Pekka Rinne gave up four goals on 32 shots in Saturday's series-ending Game 6 loss to the Blackhawks.
Analysis: Not the best postseason for Pekka Rinne, who finished with a .909 save percentage and 2.68 GAA. While the Blackhawks switched between Scott Darling and Corey Crawford in Round 1, they still managed to be good enough to get past Rinne and the Preds. The 32-year-old netminder, who notched a whopping 41 wins in the regular season, gave up four goals on three separate occasions in the playoffs and couldn't shut down the Blackhawks' potent offensive attack. While it wasn't the best playoff run for Rinne, his remarkable regular season indicates he'll be in for another great year in 2015-16.

Predators' Rinne To Start Game 6

News: Pekka Rinne will get the start Saturday for Game 6 against Chicago.
Analysis: Pekka Rinne responded from Tuesday's triple overtime loss to hold Chicago to two goals on 30 shots in Game 5. He will be in net once again Saturday.

Rinne Bounces Back To Keep Preds Alive

News: Pekka Rinne handled 28 of the 30 shots put on him by the Blackhawks Thursday to avoid elimination with a Game 5 victory.
Analysis: It's been a tough series for Pekka Rinne, who's twice been tagged for four goals and was -- like opposing netminder Scott Darling -- coming off a 101-minute marathon on Tuesday. In fact, dating back to the regular season, he's lost seven of his last nine games. But all that matters right now is Game 6 on Saturday in Chicago.

Preds' Rinne Draws Nod For Game 5

News: Pekka Rinne will be in the cage for Thursday's Game 5 against the Blackhawks, John Glennon of The Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Pekka Rinne might have taken the loss Tuesday to drop the Predators into a 3-1 series deficit, but he submitted arguably his best performance of the postseason thus far in the outing, stopping 45 of 47 shots before surrendering the game-winning goal to Brent Seabrook in triple overtime. With the Predators facing elimination Thursday, coach Peter Laviolette won't even think about resting Rinne, despite his somewhat inconsistent play and tiring workload in the series.

Rinne, Preds Fall In Game 4's Third OT

News: Pekka Rinne made 45 saves on 48 shots, but that 48th shot was Brent Seabrook's triple-overtime winner Tuesday in a Game 4 marathon loss to Chicago.
Analysis: Pekka Rinne's spectacular stops kept the Preds in the game while they were being steadily outplayed throughout overtime, until Brent Seabrook's shot from the blue line found its way past him 101 minutes into this game. You have to wonder if Rinne's going to tire out -- he's played the equivalent of more than an entire extra game worth of overtimes in this series -- but then again, he may not get the chance to, since the series now heads back to Nashville with a 3-1 Blackhawks lead.

Preds' Rinne To Start Game 4

News: Pekka Rinne will be in goal for Tuesday's Game 4 against the Blackhawks.
Analysis: Pekka Rinne's play has been a bit uneven this postseason, but barring an injury, he'll be locked into starting duty for the Predators for the remainder of the series. With the Predators facing a 2-1 deficit, the team may need Rinne to stand on his head on the road Tuesday in order to feel good about their chances of vanquishing the Blackhawks.

Preds' Rinne Allows Four In Loss

News: Pekka Rinne allowed four goals on 30 shots in Sunday's Game 3 loss to the Blackhawks.
Analysis: It's now the second time in the series Pekka Rinne has allowed four goals as the Preds have been on the losing end both times. After being one of the best goalies throughout the year, Rinne slumped down the stretch run of the season, so he'll likely have to be better in order to tie up the series at two before heading back to Nashville.

Preds Roll With Rinne

News: Pekka Rinne is slated to start Sunday's Game 3 against Chicago, NHL.com's Robby Stanley reports.
Analysis: While Chicago is turning to Scott Darling in net for Sunday's contest, Pekka Rinne will continue to man the Nashville net, something that is unlikely to change as the postseason rolls along, assuming the health of Rinne, who stopped 24 of 26 shots in Friday's 6-2 win over the Hawks.

Preds' Rinne Makes 24 Saves In Game 2 Win

News: Pekka Rinne stopped 24 of 26 shots in Friday's Game 2 win over the Blackhawks.
Analysis: A solid outing for Pekka Rinne, who helped the Predators even their Round 1 series with Chicago. Nashville exploded for six goals Friday, so as long as they keep finding twine, they could get past Chicago. Rinne is one of the best goaltenders in the playoffs, but if the Preds' offense dries up, they won't have much of a chance against Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews, Marian Hossa, Patrick Sharp and the high-flying Blackhawks.

Preds' Rinne Will Start Friday

News: Pekka Rinne will be in the crease on Friday for Game 2 of Nashville's playoff series against the Blackhawks, Thomas Willis of the Predators' official site reports.
Analysis: Pekka Rinne will look to bounce back from his performance in Game 1 of the series, in which he allowed four goals on 42 shots.

Preds' Rinne Drops Game 1 In Double OT

News: Pekka Rinne made 38 of 42 saves Wednesday but it wasn't enough as the Predators fell 4-3 in double overtime to Chicago in Game 1.
Analysis: On most nights, a .905 save percentage wouldn't be all that bad -- except for the fact that Pekka Rinne coughed up a three-goal lead in allowing three goals in the second period. He'll need to be a lot better for Nashville to have any hope of advancing past the Blackhawks.

Preds' Rinne Leads Team On Ice

News: Pekka Rinne led the Predators on the ice in advance of Wednesday's game, Thomas Willis of the Predators' official site reports.
Analysis: Pekka Rinne was fully expected to start the playoff opener against Chicago, and this announcement confirms that notion. He'll square off against Corey Crawford and a Blackhawks squad that he has seen three times this season. Rinne has emerged from those matchups with one victory, one defeat, and one shootout loss.

Preds Roll With Rinne

News: Pekka Rinne is in line to start Wednesday's playoff opener against Chicago.
Analysis: As expected, Pekka Rinne is on track to handle the Preds' playoff goaltending duties on the heels of a 2014-15 season in which he recorded a 2.18 GAA and a .923 save percentage, while compiling a 41-17-6 record in 64 appearances for Nashville.

Rinne, Preds Take Loss To Wild

News: Pekka Rinne gave up three goals on 26 shots Thursday in a 4-2 loss to Minnesota.
Analysis: That's four straight losses for Pekka Rinne, who's given up 14 goals in that span and has to be terrifying Nashville fans with his slump to the regular season's finish line. But hey, maybe he just wants to save some energy for the playoffs.

Pekka Rinne

Preds' Rinne In Net Thursday

News: Pekka Rinne led the Predators on the ice for warmups and will receive the start in goal Thursday against the Wild.
Analysis: Pekka Rinne will look to put a stop to a three-game losing streak and enter the postseason with some positive momentum. The Finnish goalie is 11-5-3 with a 2.22 GAA and .919 save percentage in his 20 career appearances against the Wild.

Preds' Rinne Likely To Start Thursday

News: Pekka Rinne is projected to start in goal Thursday against the Wild.
Analysis: Pekka Rinne has taken three losses in a row for the Predators, surrendering 11 goals in total over those outings. The recent downturn in performance might prompt those playing in daily leagues to tread lightly with Rinne on Thursday, but the goalie should benefit from playing against a Wild squad that will be rested three of its top goal scorers in Zach Parise, Thomas Vanek, and Nino Niederreiter.

Preds' Rinne Saves 20, But Loses Tuesday

News: Pekka Rinne stopped 20 of 23 shots in Tuesday's loss to the Avalanche.
Analysis: It's the third consecutive defeat for Pekka Rinne, who has posted sub-.900 save percentage marks in all three of those outings. Rinne's been prone to more blowups over the last couple of months, and while it hasn't done much to blemish his still-outstanding season ratios (2.17 GAA, .923 save percentage), it might give those in postseason pools some pause before selecting him as their primary option in the net.

Preds' Rinne Back In Net Tuesday

News: Pekka Rinne will be between the pipes during Tuesday's game against the Avalanche.
Analysis: While the Predators would surely like to rest the oft-used Pekka Rinne at some point during the final week of the regular season, the team will continue to ride their top netminder while the top spot in the Central Division remains up for grabs. Perhaps of equal importance, the team would surely like to get Rinne back on the right track heading into the postseason, as he's struggled his last two times out. After cobbling together a four-game winning streak, Rinne has yielded four goals in consecutive losses to the Canucks and Stars. He's still a strong option in weekly head-to-head leagues, but Rinne might be a less-attractive play in daily formats Tuesday due to his recent downturn.

Preds' Rinne Allows Four Goals In Loss

News: Pekka Rinne allowed four goals on 24 shots in Saturday's loss to the Stars.
Analysis: Another poor showing from Pekka Rinne, who has allowed eight goals in his last two games. He still owns an impressive 41-15-6 record on the season, but the Predators are likely hoping the 32-year-old can finish the regular season strong before heading into the postseason. With a .924 save percentage and 2.15 GAA, Rinne should still be rolled out with confidence every game. He's sure to bounce back.

Preds' Rinne In The Net Saturday

News: Pekka Rinne will be in the crease for Saturday's game against the Stars, NHL.com's Robby Stanley reports.
Analysis: Pekka Rinne owns rather pedestrian career numbers against the Stars (10-5-1, 2.57 GAA, and .903 save percentage over 18 appearances), but his sterling play this season still makes him a viable starting option for Saturday's slate. The netminder recently concluded a four-game winning streak and will catch the Stars a night after they took a 7-5 loss to the Blues. He'll have a great chance at nabbing victory No. 42 of the season.

Preds' Rinne Sees Winning Streak End

News: Pekka Rinne gave up four goals on 25 shots Tuesday in a shootout loss to Vancouver, ending his four-game winning streak.
Analysis: Pekka Rinne showed curious inconsistency in March, which ended up as his second-worst month of the season in terms of save percentage. Still, even factoring in his off nights, he's been among the league's better goalies and should be rolled out the rest of the way whenever he's in action.

Preds' Rinne Getting Another Start Tuesday

News: Pekka Rinne will draw the start in net Tuesday versus the Canucks, Willy Daunic of ESPN Radio Nashville reports.
Analysis: Pekka Rinne has limited the Canucks to a grand total of two goals in his two outings this season, an achievement that's not overly surprising given his all-around dominance this season. With a robust 41-15-4 record supported by strong peripherals, Rinne is just two wins shy of matching his personal record (and the franchise record) for victories in a season.

Preds Return To Rinne On Tuesday

News: Pekka Rinne is in line to start Tuesday's game against the Canucks.
Analysis: Pekka Rinne, who gave way to Carter Hutton on Sunday against Calgary, is slated to return to the Preds' net Tuesday, tied with Montreal's Carey Price for the league lead in wins, with 41.

Preds' Rinne Holds On For Win

News: Pekka Rinne nearly coughed up a 3-0 lead Saturday against the Capitals, but was able to escape with a 4-3 victory. He made 25 saves in the win.
Analysis: Though he wasn't able to hold down the Capitals over the final two periods, Pekka Rinne made enough key saves to extend his winning streak to four games. With the Predators aiming to secure favorable positioning for the playoffs, it wouldn't be overly surprising if coach Barry Trotz stuck with Rinne for the second half of the team's back-to-back Sunday versus the Flames.

Preds' Rinne Back In Crease Saturday

News: The Predators will roll with Pekka Rinne in goal for Saturday's matinee tilt in Washington.
Analysis: After a relative rough stretch over the last few weeks, Pekka Rinne seems to be back to form, as he's won three games in a row while surrendering only four goals. The Capitals will counter with one of the league's better goalies in Braden Holtby in their net, potentially making for a low-scoring affair Saturday.
