Preds' Rinne To Draw Start Thursday

News: Pekka Rinne will be between the pipes for Thursday's game against the Islanders, NHL.com's Robby Stanley reports.
Analysis: Pekka Rinne has lost a season-high three straight games, surrendering 10 goals in the process. Those scuffles shouldn't result in fantasy owners ignoring his sensational ratios (2.10 GAA, .928 save percentage) for the season, which indicate that order should be restored eventually. While Rinne won't make for an attractive play in daily leagues -- particularly against an Eastern Conference power like the Islanders -- it's still worthwhile for those in season-long formats to roll him out on a nightly basis.

Rinne, Preds Lose Again

News: Pekka Rinne allowed three goals on 39 shots in Monday's 4-1 loss to the Rangers.
Analysis: Pekka Rinne's cold spell continues, as the goaltender picked up his fifth loss in his last six starts. This was still one of his better performances in that span, but he was peppered with shots all game long as he surrendered at least three goals for the third straight game. The 32-year-old has been sensational this season, to the tune of 35 wins, a 2.10 GAA, and a .928 save percentage, so it's a little concerning to see him slump. Fantasy owners should continue to keep him rolling, but keep an eye on him for the time being until he turns it around.

Scuffling Rinne To Man Net For Preds On Monday

News: Pekka Rinne led the Predators on the ice for pregame warmups and will be in the crease for Monday's game against the Rangers, Willy Daunic of ESPN Radio Nashville reports.
Analysis: Pekka Rinne enters Monday a loser in four of his last five outings, which represents his worst stretch of the season. Because he's been largely excellent this season, it's probably too early for fantasy owners to sound the alarm, but he's not necessarily the automatic, no-brainer play he was earlier in the month. That's especially true against a Rangers attack that has been sizzling of late, scoring three or more goals in eight of their last 10 games.

Fourth Loss In Five Starts For Preds' Rinne

News: Pekka Rinne allowed four goals on 25 shots in a 4-3 loss to the visiting Red Wings on Saturday afternoon.
Analysis: The normally near-impenetrable Pekka Rinne has shown some serious chinks in his armor lately, giving up 16 goals in the last five games, four of which amounted to losses. That includes back-to-back regulation losses at home, where the Preds are now still an amazing 26-5-1. The Finnish backstopper still owns some of the league's very best ratios (.928 save percentage, 2.08 GAA) but his recent struggles are certainly disconcerting for owners. Could he be feeling some lingering effects from the knee injury he returned from on Feb. 4? Perhaps Nashville's defense just hasn't been as sound, or he's feeling fatigued. Nonetheless, we wouldn't look too far into it, as Rinne is truly an elite option between the pipes who will be motivated to work out the kinks in the last 20 games of the season in preparation for the playoffs.

Preds' Rinne Gets Matinee Start

News: Pekka Rinne will start Saturday's matinee tilt against the Red Wings.
Analysis: Pekka Rinne hasn't faced the Red Wings this season, but owns a 12-7-3 record, 2.39 GAA, and .928 save percentage over 22 career appearances against the Preds' former division rivals. The Red Wings will counter in goal with Jonas Gustavsson, who will spell regular starter Jimmy Howard for a game.

Preds' Rinne Takes Loss To Wild

News: Pekka Rinne gave up three goals on 29 shots and was stuck with a 4-2 loss Thursday against visiting Minnesota.
Analysis: Devan Dubnyk outdueled him, facing the same number of shots and giving up just two goals to Pekka Rinne's three. That's three losses in the last four starts for Rinne, who's hit a little period of relative struggle, as he's also posted save marks of .900 or lower in three of his last four.

Preds' Rinne Takes Aim At Win No. 36

News: Pekka Rinne was the first goalie off the ice at morning skate and will be between the pipes Thursday against the Wild, NHL.com's Robby Stanley reports.
Analysis: Thursday's match will pit arguably the league's best goalie this season in Pekka Rinne against perhaps the most dominant goalie of the past two months in Devan Dubnyk, who will make his 19th straight start for the Wild. Aside from a five-goal hiccup against the Islanders last Thursday, Rinne doesn't have too many black marks in his game log of late. He's given up two of fewer goals in seven of his last eight games.

Preds' Rinne Expected To Start Tuesday

News: Pekka Rinne is expected to receive the start in goal Tuesday against the Avalanche, Willy Daunic of ESPN Radio Nashville reports.
Analysis: Pekka Rinne was sharp in an overtime loss to the Flyers his last time out Saturday afternoon, stopping 31 of 33 shots. He was rested for Sunday's tilt with the Sabres in favor of backup Carter Hutton, but coach Peter Laviolette won't shy away from returning the net to Rinne on Tuesday, despite his uncharacteristic two-game losing streak. The Avalanche are slated to counter with Semyon Varalmov in their net.

Preds' Rinne Wins 35th

News: Pekka Rinne got back in the win column Tuesday, tallying his 35th victory by allowing two goals on 20 shots to the visiting Avs.
Analysis: Pekka Rinne had uncharacteristically taken consecutive losses, after which he got a day off, but now he's right back where he belongs. With 35 wins and just 11 total losses (eight in regulation), plus elite rate stats, he's been perhaps the most valuable player in fantasy when healthy.

Preds' Rinne Confirmed For Tuesday

News: Pekka Rinne led the Predators on the ice for warmups and has been confirmed as the starter in goal for Tuesday's game against the Avalanche.
Analysis: He'll match up against the Avs' Semyon Varlamov as he looks to claim his league-leading 35th win of the season.

Preds' Rinne Grounded By Flyers Saturday

News: Pekka Rinne played well Saturday -- making 31 of 33 saves -- but it wasn't enough as the Predators fell 3-2 in the shootout on the road to the Flyers.
Analysis: The big man is now winless in back-to-back games after rattling off five straight wins. Realistically though, with 34 wins in 45 starts, a miniscule 2.01 GAA and elite .931 save percentage, owners shouldn't mind too much. Pekka Rinne is a frontrunner for the Vezina trophy this season and is the main reason for the Predators' unlikely ascension to the top of the NHL standings perch. Don't even think twice about rolling him out every single night he's between the pipes -- regardless of the opponent.

Preds' Rinne Starting Saturday

News: Pekka Rinne led the Predators on to the ice for warmups for Saturday's game against the Flyers, NHL.com's Thomas Willis reports.
Analysis: Pekka Rinne gave up five goals in Thursday's loss to the Islanders, but he has otherwise been fantastic in 2015, with a 10-2-0 record to show for it.

Preds' Rinne Allows Five Goals In Loss

News: Pekka Rinne gave up five goals on 40 shots Thursday in a loss to the Islanders.
Analysis: Well, that was unexpected. Pekka Rinne's been bordering on perfect lately, but the Isles were able to get to him early and often in this one, putting a stop to his five-game winning streak. He'll look to start a new one Saturday in Philadelphia.

Preds' Rinne Projected To Start Thursday

News: Pekka Rinne is projected to receive the start in goal for Thursday's game against the Islanders.
Analysis: Pekka Rinne is expected to take the ice for his 44th game of the season in a matchup between two of the NHL's surprise Stanley Cup contenders. Rinne has won five straight games while lowering his season GAA to 1.94 and improving his save percentage to .932.

Rinne Stops 42 As Preds Roll Over Sharks

News: Pekka Rinne saved 42 of 43 shots Tuesday en route to a 5-1 victory over the Sharks.
Analysis: He just keeps on doing it, game after game. That's three consecutive one-goal outings for Pekka Rinne and five straight wins. You know what to do.

News: Pekka Rinne led the Predators on the ice for pregame warmups and will draw the start in goal against the Sharks on Tuesday.

Preds Likely To Go With Rinne On Tuesday

News: Pekka Rinne will likely be in goal for Tuesday's game against the Sharks, NHL.com's Robby Stanley reports.
Analysis: A victor in four consecutive games, Pekka Rinne continues to dazzle since his return from a sprained knee. As has been the case all season, he's a must-start against any opponent.

Preds' Rinne Holds Down Devils On Saturday

News: Pekka Rinne limited the Devils to one goal on 22 shot attempts in Saturday's 3-1 win.
Analysis: Outings like this have been the norm all season for Pekka Rinne, who lowered his GAA to 1.97 and improved his save percentage to .931 over 42 outings. Given his lofty numbers, it's somewhat remarkable that Rinne has only picked up three shutouts thus far, though nobody is really complaining.

Preds Confirm Rinne For Saturday

News: Pekka Rinne has been confirmed as the starter in goal for Saturday's game against the Devils, Matt Loughlin of WFAN reports.
Analysis: He'll square off against the Devils' Cory Schneider, who makes his second start in as many nights. Pekka Rinne enters Saturday's tilt a winner in three straight games, and 13 of his last 15 turns.

Preds' Rinne Expected To Play Saturday

News: Pekka Rinne is expected to start Saturday against the Devils.
Analysis: There's not much that needs to be said about Pekka Rinne, as he's answered any questions regarding the health of his knee by reeling off three straight wins against strong squads in the Rangers, Lightning, and Jets. Assuming he indeed receives the start against a punchless Devils attack, Rinne will be the best starting goalie option for Saturday's slate of games.

News: Pekka Rinne staved off 32 of 33 Winnipeg shot attempts in Thursday's 3-1 victory.

News: Pekka Rinne has been confirmed to start Thursday's game against the Jets, Maren Angus of The Tennessean reports.

Preds' Rinne In Line For Thursday Start

News: Pekka Rinne is likely to start Thursday's game against the Jets.
Analysis: The Predators haven't formally announced that Pekka Rinne will start, but it's hard to imagine the team going in a different direction after he was able to get back on track his last two times out, conceding two goals in each game. Rinne might have scuffled a bit in his first game back from the knee injury against the Ducks last week, but he seems to have fully reestablished himself as the NHL's top goalie.

Preds' Rinne Saves 30 In Win

News: Pekka Rinne turned aside 30 of 32 shots fired on him by the high-powered Lightning offense in Tuesday's 3-2 victory.
Analysis: After a dude in his first game back from injury, Pekka Rinne's back to looking ... well, Rinne-like. In his last 14 starts, dating back to before his IR stint due to a knee injury, the star netminder has gone 12-1-1.

Preds Turn To Rinne On Tuesday

News: Pekka Rinne is slated to start Tuesday's game against the Lightning, Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Analysis: Pekka Rinne, who will be making his third start since returning from a knee injury, returns to the Preds' net Tuesday after giving way to Carter Hutton in Sunday's game against the Panthers.
