Preds' Rinne Ends Oilers' Streak With Win

News: Pekka Rinne narrowly missed a shutout Wednesday, stopping 26 of 27 shots in a 4-1 road win over the Oilers. The victory ended a four-game win streak for Edmonton.
Analysis: The home team finally got to the big Finnish netminder near the midway mark of the third, denying Pekka Rinne his second shutout of the season. He's now a marvelous 6-1-1 on a surprisingly successful Predators squad, and with his 1.71 GAA and .936 save percentage, he appears to be regaining his elite status in net.

Preds Expected To Start Rinne

News: Pekka Rinne is expected to start Wednesday against the Oilers, Eric Stromgren of The Tennessean reports.
Analysis: After a woeful start to the season, the Oilers have reeled off four straight wins behind the play of goalie Ben Scrivens, presenting Pekka Rinne with a more formidable adversary than initially thought just two weeks ago. Still, given that Rinne's 5-1-1 with a 1.81 GAA, his fantasy owners aren't going to have any hesitation about using him no matter the opponent.

Preds' Rinne To Start In Goal

News: Pekka Rinne will draw the start in goal Wednesday against the Oilers.
Analysis: Pekka Rinne has allowed eight goals in his last three games, though the Predators have managed two emerge victorious in two of them. The 31-year-old net minder has a .932 save percentage on the season, but just a .889 career rate against the Oilers.

Preds' Rinne: 23 Saves In Loss

News: Pekka Rinne made 23 saves in Saturday's 3-0 loss to the Penguins. Two of the goals came on the power play.
Analysis: Pekka Rinne has been an outstanding play this season, but the Preds had to lose in regulation at some point. Set him and forget about him -- he's that good.

Preds To Start Rinne On Saturday

News: Pekka Rinne was the first goalie off the ice at morning skate and figures to draw the start Saturday versus the Penguins.
Analysis: The Predators aren't playing a back-to-back set over the weekend, so it comes as no surprise that Pekka Rinne will man the net as usual Saturday. Rinne has been sensational in the early going, ranking in the league's top 10 among all goalies in wins (five), goals-against average (1.62) and save percentage (.939).

Preds' Rinne Stops 30 In Victory

News: Pekka Rinne saved 30 of 32 pucks in Thursday's victory over the Blackhawks.
Analysis: Pekka Rinne's off to a hot start this year, having gone 5-0-1 in his first six outings. He hasn't posted a save mark under .900 yet this season, and though his schedule was a bit soft at the outset, the 'Hawks are certainly a quality opponent. His bounceback continues.

Preds To Start Rinne On Thursday

News: Pekka Rinne will make the start in goal for the Predators on Thursday against the Blackhawks, Tracey Myers of CSN Chicago reports.
Analysis: Pekka Rinne dodged the Blackhawks over the past weekend when he was rested in favor of backup Carter Hutton, but he'll now get the opportunity to test himself against the Western Conference power. The Finnish netminder has been sensational this season (4-0-1, 1.55 GAA, .940 save percentage) in his five starts, but none of his outings have come against especially formidable competition. The Blackhawks will represent his toughest test to date.

Preds Likely To Go With Rinne On Tuesday

News: Pekka Rinne is expected to return to the net Tuesday versus the Coyotes, NHL.com's Robby Stanley reports.
Analysis: The Predators received a highly-impressive outing from backup Carter Hutton during the team's most-recent tilt with the Blackhawks, but he's no threat to cut into Pekka Rinne's workload. The two-time Vezina Trophy nominee has certainly put himself under early consideration for that honor again through his first four starts in 2014-15, going 3-0-1 with a 1.22 GAA and .948 save percentage.

Preds' Rinne Picks Up Shootout Victory

News: Pekka Rinne won for the fourth time in five starts this year Tuesday, stopping 33 of 36 shots and three of four shootout tries against the Coyotes.
Analysis: Pekka Rinne hasn't been defeated in regulation and hasn't posted a save mark under .900 in a start yet this year. It's early, but he's looking like his old elite self.

Preds' Rinne Confirmed For Tuesday

News: Pekka Rinne led the Predators onto the ice for pregame warmups and will get the start Tuesday versus the Coyotes.
Analysis: Unsurprisingly, the Predators will turn the net back over to Pekka Rinne after backup Carter Hutton was given the team's most recent start. Rinne will face off against the Coyotes' Devan Dubnyk on Tuesday.

News: Pekka Rinne will get the night off Saturday while backup Carter Hutton starts against the Blackhawks, Predators radio announcer Willy Daunic reports.
Analysis: Pekka Rinne dominated the Jets on Friday night, posting a 31-save shutout, and will get to take a breather on the second night of a back-to-back. Hutton will make his first start of the season.

Preds' Rinne Shuts Out Jets

News: Pekka Rinne notched a 31-save shutout of the Jets on Friday night.
Analysis: The shutout was the 33rd of Pekka Rinne's career and lowered his GAA to a microscopic 1.22 on the season. Look for the Predators to give him a rest for the second game of their back-to-back Saturday against the Blackhawks, with backup Carter Hutton likely to receive the nod.

Preds' Rinne Set To Start Friday

News: Pekka Rinne will be in the net Friday against the Jets, Jim Toth of 680 CJOB reports.
Analysis: Pekka Rinne will make the fourth consecutive start in goal for the Predators, though his run will likely come to an end Saturday, when Carter Hutton is expected to make his first appearance of the season. The Finnish netminder carries a 2-0-1 record, 1.62 GAA and .924 save percentage into Friday's tilt with Winnipeg.

Rinne, Preds Fall In Shootout

News: Pekka Rinne limited the Flames to two goals on 28 shots Tuesday, but was stuck with a shootout loss.
Analysis: Nashville's offense wasn't quite as good for Pekka Rinne on on Tuesday as it had been in the prior two games, but he's off to a strong start this season nonetheless, having allowed just five goals in his first three outings. After losing much of the last two seasons to injuries that also sapped his effectiveness, it's big for Rinne to open well.

Preds Confirm Rinne As Tuesday Starter

News: As expected, Pekka Rinne led the Predators onto the ice for pregame warmups and will be in the crease Tuesday against the Flames.
Analysis: Pekka Rinne will match up against Calgary's Karri Ramo as he looks to improve his record to 3-0 on the season.

Preds' Rinne Expected To Start Tuesday

News: Pekka Rinne was the first goalie off the ice at morning skate and is expected to start Tuesday against the Flames.
Analysis: Thanks to a stout defense that has allowed just 38 shots in two games, Pekka Rinne has opened with a 2-0 record in what the Finnish goalie hopes will be a bounce-back campaign. An outing against the offensively-challenged Flames should present Rinne with a strong chance at remaining undefeated, and serve as a reminder that the 31-year-old still ranks among the league's best netminders.

Preds Expected To Start Rinne On Saturday

News: Pekka Rinne is expected to be in goal Saturday against the Stars, ThePredatorial.com reports.
Analysis: Pekka Rinne was able oust the Senators by a 3-2 count in his season debut Thursday, and could be in good position to move to 2-0 on Saturday. He'll be playing at home and matching up against a far inferior goalie in Anders Lindback, the usual backup for the Stars.

Preds' Rinne Stops 17 Shots In Win

News: Pekka Rinne stopped 17 of the 18 shots he faced in Saturday's win over Dallas.
Analysis: Pekka Rinne is now 2-0-0 on the season, surrendering only three goals in that span. The 31-year-old is off to a great start in 2014-15 after seeing both his save percentage and goals-against-average drop off significantly last season. Rinne possess all the necessary tools to return to elite status this season.

Preds' Rinne Comes Away With Opening Win

News: Pekka Rinne stopped 18 of 20 shots in Thursday's 3-2 win over the Senators.
Analysis: Pekka Rinne got plenty of help from his teammates, who fired 37 shots on opposing minder Craig Anderson. The last two years have been tough for Rinne, and there's nothing yet to say that he can get back to the level that he played at in his huge 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons.

Preds Going With Rinne In Opener

News: Pekka Rinne will be in the net for the Predators' season opener Thursday against the Senators, Eric Stromgren of The Tennessean reports.
Analysis: A hip infection limited Pekka Rinne to just 24 games last season, but after a healthy summer that was highlighted by an MVP performance in May's World Championship in Belarus, he'll look to reestablish himself as one of hockey's top netminders. With the hip no longer an issue for Rinne, he could return to the form that made him an annual Vezina Trophy contender from 2010 to 2012.

Preds' Rinne To Play Full Game Monday

News: Pekka Rinne is expected to start Monday's preseason scrimmage against Columbus and play the entire game, Eric Stromgren of The Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Last season, Pekka Rinne put up very mediocre numbers after undergoing hip surgery in late October, but so far he is erasing any concerns that he might not be back to 100%. So far this preseason, he has allowed just one goal on 35 shots over two games, so he's starting to look like his old dominant self again. Furthermore, given the offensive upgrades the Preds made during the offseason, Rinne is now surrounded by a stronger supporting cast, which gives his fantasy value a significant boost. Move him up a few spots on your cheat sheets and don't be afraid to grab him in the early to middle rounds of your fantasy drafts.

Preds' Rinne Feeling Healthy

News: Pekka Rinne says his hip "feels normal" after undergoing surgery last season, Josh Cooper of The Tennessean reports. "I worked hard and stayed healthy [this summer]", Rinne said. "I'm just really excited for this upcoming season. I feel like I'm ready to go."
Analysis: Pekka Rinne will be looking to bounce back after his surgery caused him to miss nearly four months of playing time last season. Once he returned to the lineup in March, he went just 6-6-2 down the stretch and finished with a 2.77 GAA and .902 save percentage while splitting time with backup Carter Hutton. This season, a healthy Rinne will surely be given the chance to earn back his undisputed No. 1 status. However if he falters, the Preds will likely not hesitate to turn to Hutton who they signed to a two-year contract in June.

Preds' Rinne Will Start Saturday

News: Pekka Rinne will make his final start of the season on Saturday, Jim Diamond of Rinksidereport.com reports.
Analysis: Coach Barry Trotz announced Pekka Rinne will start on Saturday and Carter Hutton will start on Sunday. With Saturday being his last opportunity in net this season, Rinne will look to close the season on a hot streak, as he has recorded over a .900 save percentage in each of his last three starts.

Preds' Rinne Faces 29, Stops 29

News: Pekka Rinne stopped all 29 shots the Coyotes sent his way in Thursday's 2-0 victory.
Analysis: A sparkling performance by Pekka Rinne, who's actually been quite excellent in three consecutive outings, posting save marks of .931 and .933 in the two games prior to Thursday's shutout. It's been a tough year for Rinne, who's started just 23 games due to a hip injury, but he's ending it on a high note.

Preds Going With Rinne On Thursday

News: Pekka Rinne will be in the net Thursday against the Coyotes, Willy Daunic of 102.5 The Game reports.
Analysis: Though the Predators have been eliminated from the playoff race for a while now, Pekka Rinne will get the chance to play spoiler against the Coyotes, who are competing with the Stars for the last spot out West. Rinne has rebounded from an awful showing two weeks ago in which he allowed seven goals to the Avalanche, surrendering just two goals apiece in his last two turns.
