Roster Report · Feaster wants sharp team that plays with an edge · Notes, Quotes

--Jay Feaster was named full-time general manager on May 16, after assuming the role when Darryl Sutter was asked to resign in late December. However, Feaster doesn't plan to have an autonomous role and insists one of his first hires will be an assistant GM with extensive time as a player. He also plans to ensure many voices are heard even though the buck stops with him. "At the end of the day, we believe we arrive at better decisions as a result of that," he said.

--Craig Conroy, the former Flames captain who retired in the middle of this season, will continue his role as special assistant to the general manager. Conroy was offered the head coaching job at Clarkson University but opted to stay in Calgary.

--Jim Playfair, the former head coach in Calgary who spent the last two seasons guiding the club's top American Hockey League team in Abbotsford, will remain in that role. The team picked up the option year of Playfair's contract even though the Abbotsford Heat failed to make the playoffs.

QUOTE TO NOTE
"I did take a pay cut. Family and all that is important to me, and I really love the Flames organization. They've been good to me the last couple of years here, and I kind of took my game to the next level with the Flames organization. I'm excited to come back." -- LW Curtis Glencross, who opted not to go to free agency and signed a long-term contract.
