The Cardinals seemed to have found a recipe for success when it comes to running back MiQuale Lewis. Bothered by injury early in his career (broken collarbone in 2006 and torn ACL in 2007), Ball State forced a no-contact rule against Lewis in summer drills prior to last season. The plan worked to perfection. Lewis was active for all 14 games and posted the fifth-best performance in MAC history when he rushed for 1,736 yards. He also rushed for a school-record 22 touchdowns, while adding 35 catches for 325 yards. Lewis had 11 100-yard rushing games and finished fifth in the nation, averaging 124 yards per game. First-year coach Stan Parrish is following in his mentor's footsteps -- former head coach Brady Hoke -- by resting Lewis. The 5-6, 184-pound back was withheld from contact during the spring and will likely face the same fate in the fall in order to keep him healthy all year. Ball State is going to need it as redshirt freshman Kelly Page becomes a first-year starter at quarterback. Lewis passes as a viable Fantasy running back in most formats.
