The Virginia quarterback situation is an interesting one heading into the season. Three men are up for the job: Marc Verica, a junior who became the team's starter last season; Vic Hall, who started the season finale against Virginia Tech; and Jameel Sewell, a senior who started for Virginia in 2007 but was not with the team last year for academic reasons. Heading into the spring, it seemed the competition was between Verica, who threw for 2,037 yards and eight touchdowns last season but also was picked off 16 times and Sewell, who as a starter in '07 amassed 2,176 yards passing and finished seventh in the ACC in total offense with 188.8 yards per game. However, Hall, who did not complete a pass in that game against the Hokies but rushed for 109 yards and two touchdowns, was the team's first quarterback on the field during the spring game. Hall did complete some passes there and threw for 98 yards on 11-of-16 passing. Sewell was 7-of-11 in the spring game for 61 yards, and Verica was 14-of-19 for 148 yards and a touchdown pass. Sewell is definitely the guy with the most talent of the group, but it seems that UVA might decide to use all three at times this season. They will be debuting a new no-huddle offense that will definitely put up yardage, but only Sewell has any chance of becoming a viable Fantasy quarterback in even the deepest of leagues.
