Taylor Potts is arguably going to be the biggest Fantasy mover on Draft Day 2009. A backup in 2008, Potts is now slated to take over one of the most prolific passing offenses in college football and shoot up the Fantasy rankings. Potts has the task of replacing the NCAA's second all-time leading passer Graham Harrell, who passed for 5,000-plus yards the last two seasons. Although Steven Sheffield, Stefan Loucks and Seth Doege might push for the starting job, head coach Mike Leach will likely stick with Potts since he does have experience backing up Harrell. The junior quarterback got more work as a redshirt freshman in 2007 (409 passing yards, three touchdowns), but he still completed 23-of-36 passes for 260 yards and two touchdowns in '08. Potts showed great understanding of the Texas Tech offense in the spring, completing 20-of-27 passes for 211 yards and one touchdown in the final scrimmage. Leach has a successful history of plugging quarterbacks into his pass-heavy offense, so consider Potts a nice No. 1 Fantasy quarterback on Draft Day. Potts and Taylor Sheffield will compete for the right to take over the quarterback position outright in 2010, with new head coach of the Red Raiders, Tommy Tuberville, telling Richard Durrett of ESPN.com, "We'll have one quarterback. You need one where everyone looks at this guy as the guy and one that will win games for us."
