Brandon Saine garnered much-acclaim after being named Ohio's Mr. Football in 2006. He became one of the nation's top running back recruits in 2007, and that allowed him to step on the field as a true freshman later that year. Still, he was behind Chris Wells and Maurice Wells on the depth chart. Saine finished the season with 60 carries for 267 yards and two touchdowns. He also had 12 receptions for 160 yards and one touchdown. Great things were then expected from Saine as a sophomore, but instead he received grave disappointment. Redshirt freshman Dan Herron leapfrogged him on the depth chart and became Chris Wells' primary backup. Word is that the 6-foot-1, 217-pound Saine, who has 4.35 40-speed, made big strides in the offseason. He is still going to battle Herron for carries now that Wells is in the NFL, but Saine might finally have his breakout season. Consider him a low-end Fantasy reserve to begin the season.
