While P.J. Hill was still the focal part of the running game in 2008 when he was healthy, John Clay possessed too much talent to keep off the field. The former high school All-American wowed the coaches while on the scout team in 2007 and finally put his talents to good use last season. He finished second to Hill's 1,161 yards with 884 of his own. He also had nine rushing touchdowns. His 884 yards was good enough for seventh in the Big Ten without even being a full-time starter. Clay had 100 or more yards in three of his last five games and averaged 83.0 yards per game in his final seven appearances. He averaged 5.7 yards per carry for the season and is now ready to take on the starring role with Hill out of the picture. Clay is going to be a popular Fantasy addition on Draft Day as he eyes his first 1,000-yard season. His biggest competition for carries will be Zach Brown. (Updated 6/10/09)
