Auburn as a team put on quite a disappointing show in 2008 (5-7), and the struggles went all the way down to the kicking game. Wes Byrum, who was coming off quite an impressive freshman season, managed a team-high 55 points in '08, but nailed just 11-of-19 field goals (57.9 percent). He really struggled from the 30-49-yard range, managing just six conversions on 13 tries. He did have a strong spring, and that encouraged the new coaching staff to keep him in place heading into 2009. Auburn is a prime candidate for a bounce-back season with first-year offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn bringing high-energy offense to town, but Byrum is at best a backup Fantasy option with sleeper potential.
