Roy Helu came on late during the 2008 season but still did enough down the stretch to earn honorable mention All-Big 12 honors. Helu was part of a three-person rotation at running back with Marlon Lucky and Quentin Castille. But when Helu became too much of a threat out of the backfield, he eventually became Nebraska's go-to back. His breakout game was a 157-yard, two-touchdown performance against Oklahoma. He finished the season with three 100-yard outings and 510 rushing yards over the last four regular-season games. For the season, Helu had 803 rushing yards, 266 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. He averaged 6.4 yards per carry, the highest by a Nebraska back in seven years. Helu missed the last half of spring practice with a pulled hamstring, but the coaches were raving about his speed and power before going down with the injury. With Lucky out of the picture, Helu could be Nebraska's star back in 2009. Consider him a nice Fantasy reserve with potential to start by season's end.
