In 2008, Lindley became just the second freshman quarterback in San Diego State history to start a season opener. Unfortunately, he didn't progress enough under center for head coach Chuck Long to keep his job. Long has been replaced by Brady Hoke, who had great success at Ball State from 2003-08. Hoke turned Nate Davis into an elite college quarterback and pro prospect, and he looks to do the same with the 6-3, 205-pound Lindley. The redshirt sophomore is a strong-armed quarterback and aired the ball out 427 times in '08. Unfortunately, he completed just 56.7 percent of his passes. Lindley racked up 2,653 yards, 16 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He missed one start due to injury, but had four games with 300 or more passing yards, including a career-high 433 yards against Idaho. Lindley could feel the heat from Drew Westling if he gets off to a slow start in the fall, but it seems Hoke will let offensive coordinator Al Borges, who last coached at Auburn, work with the young quarterback. Lindley doesn't have much Fantasy appeal outside the deepest of formats on Draft Day, but is a player to watch.
