Iowa redshirted Jeff Brinson as a freshman in 2008 after signing him out of St. Petersburg (Fla.) Northeast High, and now the coaching staff is eager to test out the 5-foot-11, 215-pound back in the fall. Brinson rushed for nearly 5,000 yards in high school and totaled 67 touchdowns. He comes from prospect-laden Florida and could be a real sleeper for the Hawkeyes since he was once considered a mid-level prospect. Iowa is rebuilding the running game sans 1,800-yard rusher Shonn Greene, and Brinson could compete with starter Jewel Hampton for carries in 2009. Consider Brinson a wait-and-see Fantasy option.
