Trade deadline not likely to save Emilio Bonifacio's value

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(8/1/14) After a hot start to the season that saw him leap to Fantasy relevance, Emilio Bonifacio has been in a long decline -- partially fueled by a disabled list stint --that has seen him hit just .246/.279/.354 with four stolen bases in his last 40 starts, a stretch of 188 plate appearances before he was acquired by the Braves.

Despite this, Bonifacio is still owned in 48 percent of CBSSports.com leagues. The deadline-day move to send him from Chicago to Atlanta is unlikely to open up too much more playing time for the super-utility man. Fantasy owners still clinging to whatever semblance of hope is left would be wise to cut ties with Bonifacio at this point.

Braves acquire Emilio Bonifacio, James Russell from Cubs

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(7/31/14) The Braves made one move before the trade deadline, acquiring reliever James Russell and infielder Emilio Bonifacio from the Cubs, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Additional details on the trade are not yet available.

Russell has a 3.51 ERA in 33 1/3 innings for the Cubs this season, while Bonifacio was hitting .279/.318/.373 in 276 at-bats for the Cubs.

Manager indicates Emilio Bonifacio likely to be traded

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(7/31/14) Rick Renteria has all but confirmed that the Cubs are on the verge of dealing away second baseman Emilio Bonifacio.

"It's obvious there might be some things shaking out," he told MLB.com. "We'll see how it continues to develop during the day."

Bonifacio has piqued interest by peaking at the plate. He has 15 hits in his last eight games.

Emilio Bonifacio still sidelined as trade rumors swirl

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(7/31/14) Cubs second baseman Emilio Bonifacio remains out of the lineup Thursday against the visiting Rockies as rumors continue to swirl that he will be dealt before the deadline.

Bonifacio has been linked to San Francisco, Baltimore and Cincinnati. Any suitor would be snagging a hot hitter. Bonifacio is 13 of 35 with five runs scored in his last eight games.

Emilio Bonifacio out of lineup Wednesday

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(7/30/14) Cubs outfielder Emilio Bonifacio is not in Wednesday's starting lineup and is a possible trade candidate over the next 24 hours. He is drawing interest from the Giants, Orioles and Reds, CBSSports.com baseball insider Jon Heyman reports.

Bonifacio has been told to be prepared for a trade, though the team hasn't agreed to a specific deal yet, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. He has hit .279/.318/.373 with two home runs, 18 RBI and 14 stolen bases in 276 at-bats and offers positional versatility in the infield and outfield.
