Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Earns seventh win with two-hit shutout over Reds

by RotoWire Staff | Special to
(5/24/16) Kershaw (7-1) threw a two-hit complete game shutout with seven strikeouts and one walk in Monday's win over the Reds.

Although Kershaw's incredible streak of six double-digit strikeout games in a row ended Monday night, it was still one of the most dominant starts of his season. No Reds runner made it to third base and Kershaw retired the last 17 hitters in a row. He induced 13 swinging strikes and, most impressively, 16 groundball outs as the Reds had no answer for any of his pitches. He now owns an absurd 95:5 K:BB as he is on a great start towards his fourth Cy Young Award.

Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Running toward history with 11 more strikeouts

by RotoWire Staff | Special to
(5/18/16) Kershaw (6-1) hurled eight innings, allowing a single run, four hits and no walks while striking out eleven in Tuesday's victory against the Angels.

Kershaw (6-1) has struck out 10-plus hitter with no more than one walk in six consecutive starts, extending his own modern-day record. Six straight starts with at least 10 strikeouts also is a franchise record (the MLB record is eight by Pedro Martinez in 1999 and Chris Sale in 2015). Kershaw has 88 strikeouts and only four walks in 70 innings this year. His 22:1 K:BB is on pace for the highest mark in the modern era, far beyond Phil Hughes' 11.63 to 1 mark with Minnesota in 2014. In May, Kershaw is 4-0 with a 0.82 ERA, 48 strikeouts and one walk.

Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Shuts out Mets, whiffing double digits again

by RotoWire Staff | Special to
(5/12/16) Kershaw (5-1) hurled a three-hit shutout in a 5-0 win against the Mets on Thursday, striking out 13 with one walk.

That's his second shutout of the year and his fifth consecutive game of double-digit strikeouts. It's no fun for fans of opposing teams, but Kershaw in the prime of his career is poetry in motion. Incredibly, he's walked just four batters while striking out 77 in 62 innings spanning his first eight starts of 2016. There's no shortage of superlatives we can lay on Kershaw, who's challenged only by Jake Arrieta for the title of best pitcher in baseball.

Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Fans 10 Blue Jays in Saturday victory

by RotoWire Staff | Special to
(5/8/16) Kershaw (4-1) struck out 10 and surrendered eight hits and two earned runs over seven innings in Saturday's 6-2 victory over the Blue Jays.

The Dodgers ace demonstrated pinpoint control, and induced a robust 21 swings-and-misses over his 112 pitches. The 28-year-old has gone at least seven innings in all seven starts this season, and has bounced back from his poorest outing of the season on April 26 by giving up only two earned runs over 16 innings in his subsequent pair of starts. Kershaw's WHIP is now a minuscule 0.77, and he's already struck out 24 batters without issuing a single walk in 16 frames during May.

Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Dominant in shutout of San Diego

by RotoWire Staff | Special to
(5/1/16) Kershaw was dominant in Sunday's start against San Diego, striking out 14 with no walks in a complete-game shutout to boost his record to 3-1.

The lefty was touched up for five runs in his previous outing, but he rebounded superbly and delivered his best start of the season. Kershaw has allowed two runs or fewer in five of six starts and has struck out at least 10 batters in three straight, making him a must-start fantasy asset even as he takes on Toronto at the Rogers Center his next time out.
