Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw flirts with perfection in victory over Mets

by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(7/23/15) Dodgers starter Clayton Kershaw was simply magnificent against the Mets on Thursday. Kershaw tossed a complete game, three-hit shutout, blanking the Mets 3-0. Kershaw did not walk a batter and struck out 11. He needed just 104 pitches (79 strikes) to go the distance, as he completely overmatched a poor Mets offense.

Kershaw (8-6) carried a perfect game into the seventh inning, but Curtis Granderson ended that thought with a lead-off single. That was a mere blip on the radar for Kershaw, who has now thrown three consecutive shutouts.

He has struck out a whopping 38 batters over his last three starts, without issuing a single walk over that stretch. Kershaw has become the first pitcher since 1900 to have three straight starts of 10 or more strikeouts with no runs allowed, according to Elias.

Dodgers SP Clayton Kershaw strikes out 14 in dominant win

by Ruben Palacios | Staff Writer
(7/18/15) Dodgers starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw was simply dominant during his start against the Nationals on Saturday.

Kershaw threw eight scoreless innings and allowed just three hits. He struck out 14 batters, the second-most strikeouts of his career.

Kershaw improved to 7-6 with the win. He now has an impressive 2.68 ERA with 174 strikeouts and 27 walks in 131 innings this season.

In his last two starts, Kershaw has 27 strikeouts while not allowing any runs or walks. He's the first pitcher in 100 years with at least 10 strikeouts combined with no walks or runs in back-to-back games, according to ESPN Stats & Info.

Dodgers switch Clayton Kershaw, Mike Bolsinger in rotation

by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(7/16/15) The Dodgers have made a slight change to their rotation for the upcoming weekend series against the Nationals. Clayton Kershaw, who was scheduled to pitch in the opener on Friday, will now pitch in the second game on Saturday.

Mike Bolsinger will pitch toe the rubber on Friday now, giving Kershaw--who pitched an inning in Tuesday's All-Star game--an extra day of rest.

Kershaw, Bolsinger, Greinke to pitch in 1st series after break for Dodgers

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(7/15/15) The Dodgers announced All-Star pitcher Clayton Kershaw will start the first game after the All-Star break on Friday against the Nationals. He will be followed in the three-game series by Mike Bolsinger and All-Star Zack Greinke.

Greinke and Kershaw pitched in Tuesday's All-Star game. Greinke started the game and allowed a solo home run to Mike Trout, but it was the only hit and run he allowed in two innings. He struck out four and walked one.

Kershaw did not do as well as his teammate. He took the loss after allowing two runs on three hits and one walk in one inning of work. He struck out one.

Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw takes loss in All Star Game

by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(7/14/15) Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw gave up two runs on three hits in his inning of work to take the loss in Tuesday's All Star Game.

Kershaw has appeared in the last five All Star Games and hadn't given up a run in his previous four appearances. The three hits were one more than his career total and his one walk doubled his career total.

Kershaw became the first Dodgers pitcher to lose in the All Star Game since Eric Gagne in 2003.
