Cardinals OF Jason Heyward hits game-tying homer in win

by Jason Butt | CBSSports.com
(5/28/15) Cardinals outfielder Jason Heyward hit a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning during Wednesday night's 4-3 win over the Diamondbacks.

Down 3-2, Heyward tied the game up in the final half-inning. St. Louis would go on to win with Peter Bourjos scoring the game-winning run a few plays later.

Heyward, who went 2 for 4, now has five home runs this season. He's hitting .239/.290/.387 this season.

Cardinals return Jason Heyward, Matt Holliday to Monday lineup

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(5/25/15) Cardinals outfielders Jason Heyward (hip) and Matt Holliday (arm) are both ready to roll Monday against Arizona.

Heyward, who has not played since Friday, has been hitless in six of his last 10 games.

Holliday was sidelind only Sunday with a contusion. He has slumped recently, but still boasts a fine slash line of .314/.434/.443.

Cardinals OF Jason Heyward dealing with hip tightness

by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com
(5/23/15) Cardinals outfielder Jason Heyward was forced to miss Saturday's game against the Royals while battling hip tightness, manager Mike Matheny said per FOXSports.com.

Heyward felt his hip tighten up on Friday, but should be available to pinch hit, according to Matheny. He will likely return to the lineup on Sunday.

"I think it just kind of tightened up as the game went on," Matheny said. "I don't think there was one independent action that caused it. We'll keep an eye on him."

Heyward is hitting .238 with 12 RBI in 151 at-bats this season.

Cardinals OF Jason Heyward sits for third time in eight games

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(5/23/15) Cardinals outfielder Jason Heyward was held out of the starting lineup Saturday against the Royals for the third time in eight games. Randal Grichuk started in right field for St. Louis.

However, unlike the last two times when a left-handed starter was on the hill, Heyward sat against right-handed Edison Volquez on Saturday. Left-hander Danny Duffy was originally scheduled to start Saturday before being scratched Friday due to injury, so Heyward's absence Saturday could have already been pre-planned.

Still, Heyward is actually hitting better against lefties than righties in 2015. He has a .350/.500/.922 slash line in 27 games against left-handers, while he has a .198/.333/.577 slash line in 38 games against right-handers.

Heyward has a .217/.435/.709 slash line in his last 13 games.
