Giants' Madison Bumgarner: Holds Cubs scoreless in Sunday victory

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(5/22/16) Bumgarner was excellent Sunday versus the Cubs, striking out six and walking two across 7.2 shutout innings en route to his sixth victory of the season.

The left-hander silenced a potent offense Sunday, allowing not a single runner to advance beyond first base, and he even managed to knock in the game's only run with a double in the fifth inning. Bumgarner is now the owner of an exceptional 2.17 ERA and a robust 10.44 K/9 rate through 66.1 innings and will have the opportunity to continue his recent dominance Saturday at the Rockies.

Giants' Madison Bumgarner: Completely dominates Padres for fifth win

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(5/18/16) Bumgarner (5-2) was brilliant in tossing his 11th career regular-season complete game, allowing just one run on five hits while striking out 11 in Tuesday's win over the Padres.

Bumgarner is 4-0 with a 1.53 ERA in his last five starts. In 35.1 innings during that span, he has struck out 42 and walked 10. Although his average fastball (90.8 mph) is slower than it has ever been, the lefty continues to be one of the game's most dominant pitchers. His 10.89 K/9 is well above his career average of 8.79 K/9 and his strand rate of 84.1 percent is also significantly better than his career average of 76.2 percent. Bumgarner will go for his sixth win on Sunday when he takes on the Cubs.

Giants' Madison Bumgarner: Allows one run, strikes out five, doesn't factor into decision

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(5/11/16) Bumgarner (4-2) pitched a strong outing Wednesday, striking out five and allowing just three hits and one run in 6.2 innings of work, but didn't factor into the decision of San Francisco's 5-4 win over the Blue Jays in extra innings.

He exited the game with a three-run lead, but was let down by his bullpen. Still, it was a good showing for the lefty, as he lowered his ERA to 2.72 on the year and his 60 total strikeouts is second to only Clayton Kershaw. Bumgarner hasn't lost since April 20 and continues to be one of the best starting pitchers in baseball.

Giants' Madison Bumgarner: Strikes out 10 Rockies in win

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(5/7/16) Bumgarner improved his record to 4-2 Friday versus the Rockies, striking out 10 and walking just one while allowing four runs (three earned) over seven innings.

The lefty ran into trouble and allowed all four runs in the fourth inning thanks in part to an error, but he was excellent otherwise and notched a season-high in punch-outs. Bumgarner has a solid 3.14 ERA and a stellar 11.30 K/9 through seven starts and will face a strikeout-prone Blue Jays squad in his next start Wednesday.

Giants' Madison Bumgarner: Outduels Noah Syndergaard Sunday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(5/1/16) Bumgarner (3-2) allowed no runs on six hits and three walks while striking out seven over six innings to earn the win Sunday at the Mets.

Bumgarner received plenty of offensive support and easily won his showdown with Noah Syndergaard. After some early-season struggles, he's now allowed two or fewer earned runs in each of his last three starts to lower his ERA to 3.03. He'll make his next start Friday against the Rockies.
