Madisom Bumgarner cranks out a dozen strikeouts in Giants' win

by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(8/27/15) Giants ace Madison Bumgarner was in fine form and was given plenty of run support, as the Giants topped the Cubs 9-1 on Thursday. The big left-hander allowed one run on two hits over six innings. He walked two and struck out 12, which helped elevate his pitch counto its final mark of 98 (62 strikes).

Bumgarner (16-6, 2.97 ERA) did what he does best and pretty much mowed down a rather tough Cubs' lineup. The only run he allowed came on an RBI double in the second inning, which actually gave the Cubs a 1-0 lead. But the Giants were able to rally back, while Bumgarner kept his team in the game.

In the month of August, Bumgarner won all five of his starts, posting a 1.44 ERA. He struck out at least 12 batters three times in those five outings.

by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(8/21/15) Giants pitcher Madison Bumgarner had a big night against Pittsburgh on Friday.

Bumgarner hit a two-run home run in the second inning, his fifth of the year. The blast topped last year's total by one and was the 11th of his career. Bumgarner became the first pitcher with five homers in a season since 2006.

On the mound, Bumgarner improved to 15-6 with his fourth straight win. He allowed three runs in 6 1/3 innings, his shortest start since July 19. His six strikeouts were also his fewest since July 19.

Giants SP Madison Bumgarner shines on mound, at the plate

by Ruben Palacios | Staff Writer
(8/16/15) Giants starting pitcher Madison Bumgarner displayed his other-worldly talents during Sunday's game against the Nationals.

Bumgarner tossed a complete-game shutout while limiting Washington to just three hits. He struck out 14 batters, which tied a season high, and allowed just one walk.

As if it wasn't enough to dominate on the mound, Bumgarner showed he needs to be feared with a bat as well. He went 2 for 3 with a double, a home run and two RBI.

With the win, Bumgarner improved to 14-6 on the season with a 2.98 ERA.

Giants SP Madison Bumgarner cruises past Braves

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(8/5/15) Giants ace Madison Bumgarner hasn't been his dominant self lately, but he reverted to form Wednesday night in Atlanta.

Bumgarner gave up only one run on seven hits in 7 1/3 innings to raise his record to 12-6. He walked none and fanned nine. His shutout was ruined by a Ryan Lavarnway double in the seventh inning.

He retired 11 in a row at one point in just his second quality start over his last six outings. Bumgarner has not yielded a walk over his last two starts.
