Braves' Freddie Freeman: Crushes seventh homer in loss

by RotoWire Staff | Special to
(4/21/17) Freeman went 1-for-4 with a solo homer in Friday's 4-3 loss to the Phillies.

The lefty slugger clubbed his seventh bomb of the season off Jeremy Hellickson to bring the Braves within one run in a game they'd go on to lose. Freeman's been absolutely on fire during the entire month of April, and the 27-year-old is certainly a player who could be on his way to a massive season as he tries to follow up his 34-homer effort of 2016.

Braves' Freddie Freeman: Sets Braves on-base record Wednesday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to
(4/20/17) Freeman went 2-for-3 with a walk, a home run, two runs scored and two RBI in Wednesday's 14-4 loss to the Nats.

His third-inning solo shot off Joe Ross, his sixth homer of the season, set a new franchise record as Freeman reached base in his 12th consecutive plate appearance. The first baseman has been carrying the Atlanta offense so far, slashing .440/.533/.920 through 14 games, but it's a testament to how cold the top of the order has been that he's only got eight RBI.

Braves' Freddie Freeman: Reaches base three times Friday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to
(4/15/17) Freeman went 2-for-3 with a walk, a double and a run scored in Friday's win over the Padres.

Through nine games this season, Freeman's slashing a robust .361/.425/.722 with three homers, although all three have been solo shots. Once Ender Inciarte and Dansby Swanson begin reaching base more often ahead of him, or manager Brian Snitker shakes up his batting order to get some more OBP at the top, expect Freeman to start racking up more RBI.

Braves' Freddie Freeman: Smacks two homers in four-hit effort

by RotoWire Staff | Special to
(4/9/17) Freeman went 4-for-5 with two home runs, two RBI, three runs scored and a stolen base in Sunday's 6-5 loss to the Pirates.

The Braves were swept in dramatic fashion, but it was due in no part to the performance of Freeman, who stole a base and scored in the first inning before launching solo homers in the fifth and seventh. He entered the game with a .238 average and no home runs or RBI, but perhaps this outburst can get him going as he looks to carry a large burden for what was last year one of baseball's worst offenses and could continue that weakness in 2017.

Braves' Freddie Freeman: Has three-hit Opening Day

by RotoWire Staff | Special to
(4/3/17) Freeman went 3-for-4 with a triple in Monday's Opening Day loss to the Mets.

Coming off a season in which he hit a career-high six triples, Freeman knocked a three-bagger for his first hit of 2017. The Braves scored the second-fewest runs (649) in MLB last year, but their lineup is expected to be markedly improved this season, even though it didn't look the part Monday. Freeman has been able to produce strong numbers with a weak supporting cast in recent campaigns, so assuming the roster pans out as anticipated, the first baseman could see a boost in stats this year.
