Braves' Freddie Freeman says he won't be back until after break
|by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com|
|(7/2/15) Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman said he will not return from a wrist injury until after the All-Star break. He is hoping to continue rehabbing during the mid-July break and return shortly after.
Braves 1B Freddie Freeman received PRP injection for wrist
|by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer|
|(6/25/15) Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman received a platelet-rich-plasma injection earlier this week, in hopes of expediting his return from a wrist injury, according to MLB.com.
Freeman was placed on the 15-day disabeld list on Tuesday with a wrist contusion, and there is currently no clear timetable for his return to the lineup. He is eligible to come off the DL on July 3, but it seems more likely his return will be just before or following the All-Star break.
Braves place 1B Freddie Freeman on disabled list
|by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com|
|(6/23/15) What was anticipated has become reality - the Braves have placed first baseman Freddie Freeman on the 15-day disabled list with a right wrist contusion. The move is retroactive to June 18.
Freeman has been experiencing discomfort in the wrist lately and had been out of the lineup since last Wednesday.
His absence will be felt. His slugging percentage of .520 would be his best ever if maintained the rest of the year.
Braves 1B Freddie Freeman (wrist) likely heading to DL
|by Jason Butt | CBSSports.com|
|(6/23/15) It's highly likely that Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman will wind up on the disabled list on Tuesday, according to MLB.com.
Freeman has been experiencing right wrist discomfort and underwent an MRI on Monday. The Braves have yet to release the results of the MRI. However, Freeman did not travel with the Braves to Washington for the upcoming three-game series against the Nationals.
If Freeman does end up on the DL, Joey Terdoslavich will probably be called up from Triple-A Gwinnett. This season, Freeman is hitting .299 with 12 home runs.
|2014 summary: Though he has become a steady contributor from year to year, Freddie Freeman's final 2014 numbers were something of a disappointment after the way he began the year. He looked like he was on the verge of a power breakthrough with six home runs in his first 88 at-bats but then hit only 12 the rest of the way. Some bad luck may have figured into that equation, as well as some careful pitching as the rest of the Braves lineup struggled around him. With far and away the league's best line-drive rate, Freeman remains one of the best up-and-coming hitters in the game at age 25.|
Playing time status: Freeman has had some vision issues at times in his career, which is why he wears glasses in the field, and they came up again in late April last year. That's about the time his numbers took a turn. The issues have always been treatable, but that doesn't make them any less frustrating for his Fantasy owners, especially since they seem to impact his performance.
2015 outlook: Though it could change as he enters his prime, Freeman isn't as much of a home run threat as other top first basemen, preferring to hit line drives, but 20-to-25 home runs are still plenty valuable, particularly when accompanied by a .300ish batting average. You won't find a much safer bet for elite numbers than Freeman, making him worth drafting as early as the third or fourth round even at a deep position.
