Reds' Devin Mesoraco having hip surgery on June 29

by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(6/20/15) Reds catcher Devin Mesoraco will have hip surgery in New York on June 29, per the Cincinnati Inquirer

Mesoraco has been battling the injury all season and got shut down on his most recent minor league rehab assignment.

The surgery appears to be season ending. Mesoraco said he'd be able to do his offseason work on schedule.

"It's disappointing," Mesoraco said, per MLB.com. "I've been trying so long to get it better and get it to the point where I can play, that at this point there's just nothing else that we can do. I feel good about getting it done and moving on to next season."

Triple-A manager says Reds C Devin Mesoraco is clearly still injured

by Ruben Palacios | Staff Writer
(6/15/15) Reds catcher Devin Mesoraco played three games with Triple-A Louisville during a rehab assignment but was recently pulled after his injured hip continued to bother him.

Louisville manager Delino DeShields is saying Mesoraco still has a long way to go to recover from the lingering hip issues, per Cincinnati.com.

"He's not going to be the player they want him to be with a bad hip," DeShields told the Courier-Journal Sunday. "I don't care where you put him. … The main thing for him, right now, is to get healthy. It's obvious, to me, that he's injured, and he's not going to get better. It was even hurting him on his swings the other night in Columbus. I just want to see him get healthy, if it's surgery or whatever it is."

Reds' Mesoraco taken off rehab assignment, back to rehabbing hip

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(6/12/15) Reds catcher Devin Mesoraco has been taken off his rehab assignment with Triple-A Louisville after suffering a setback with his hip injury Wednesday, manager Bryan Price said Friday, per MLB.com.

Mesoraco will return to Cincinnati for rehab work and will be reassessed after the team's road trip. Mesoraco, who hasn't caught since April 12, is trying to make the transition to the outfield.

"We thought he could transition back to the outfield and it hasn't gone as well as we had hoped from a physical standpoint," Price said.

Reds' Devin Mesoraco has soreness after Wednesday's game

by Jason Butt | CBSSports.com
(6/11/15) Reds catcher/outfielder Devin Mesoraco experienced soreness a day after Wednesday's game with the Triple-A Louisville Bats, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer
