Padres' Andrew Cashner: Error and walks plague start versus Giants

by RotoWire Staff | Special to
(4/27/16) Cashner (1-2) allowed six runs (three earned) on four hits, struck out two and walked four in a loss to the Giants on Wednesday.

The first two San Francisco batters reached via an error and walk. Four batters later, the Giants led 3-0 and all the runs were unearned. Last season, Cashner allowed 22 unearned runs in 31 starts. It's not likely to change much for Cashner either. Before Wednesday, San Diego had allowed the fifth-most errors in baseball.

Padres' Andrew Cashner: Earns win Friday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to
(4/23/16) Cashner (1-1) allowed one run on three hits and one walk while striking out four over six innings to earn the victory Friday against the Cardinals.

Cashner only allowed a solo homer to Randall Grichuk, and the Padres gave him enough run support to get him his first victory of the season. After struggling in his first two starts of the season, he's now allowed just a single earned run in each of his last two appearances to lower his ERA to 4.29. He'll make his next start Wednesday at the Giants.

Padres' Andrew Cashner: First quality start of season

by RotoWire Staff | Special to
(4/17/16) Cashner allowed one run on four hits and two walks while striking out five over six innings, but received no decision Saturday against the Diamondbacks.

Cashner left the game with a two-run lead that the bullpen let slip away, costing him a possible victory. After not pitching beyond five innings in either of his first two starts, he registered his first quality start of the young season. He'll make his next start Friday against the Cardinals.

Padres' Andrew Cashner: Allows three runs in no-decision

by RotoWire Staff | Special to
(4/11/16) Cashner (0-1) allowed three runs on seven hits over five innings in Monday's no-decision against the Phillies. He struck out five and walked one in the start.

Cashner's start represents an improvement over his previous start, where he allowed five runs in four innings. The big righty stumbled down the stretch a season ago, recording a 4.68 ERA after the All-Star break. He'll try to lower his current 8.00 ERA this Sunday against Arizona.

Padres' Andrew Cashner: Tagged for five runs in loss to Dodgers

by RotoWire Staff | Special to
(4/7/16) Cashner (0-1) gave up five runs on six hits and two walks while striking out five over just four innings of work in Wednesday's shutout loss to the Dodgers.

The hard-throwing righty struggled through much of 2015, setting new career worsts as a starter with a4.34 ERA and 1.44 WHIP, and this wasn't a good way to get started on the comeback trail. Fortunately, Cashner faces a friendlier matchup in his next outing, Tuesday against the Phillies.
