| Cory Luebke set down again |
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com (5/18/13) Padres pitcher Cory Luebke, who has been recovering from Tommy John surgery since last May, had his throwing program stopped for a second time this month Saturday. Lubeke had progressed to playing catch off a mound.
Luebke was shut down earlier in May after feeling pain in his throwing elbow, though that was not considered serious.

| Cory Luebke taking 'break' after elbow flares up |
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com (5/7/13) Padres starting pitcher Cory Luebke, who is working his way back from Tommy John surgery last year, felt some pain in his elbow last week after playing catch, so the Padres are taking a cautious approach, per MLB.com.
"He's going to take a break from throwing and reassess things," Padres manager Bud Black said, adding that Luebke and physical therapist Rick Stauffer "don't seem to be too concerned by what's happened."
Prior to last week's minor setback, Luebke progressed to playing catch off a mound.
"His progressions were great," Black said. "It's just a little sore. He did the right thing by letting Rick know that it was a little sore. But he had been hitting all of his marks."

| Cory Luebke playing catch since April 1 |
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com (4/9/13) Padres starting pitcher Cory Luebke, who is recovering from Tommy John surgery in May 2012, has been playing catch since April 1, according to MLB.com. But Luebke wasn't throwing for six weeks before April 1 and isn't sure how the time off will alter his timetable.

| Padres place Cory Luebke on 60-day DL |
by Jack Moore | CBSSports.com (3/31/13) The Padres have placed Cory Luebke on the 60-day disabled list, the club announced.
Luebke underwent Tommy John surgery last May. He is set to resume throwing shortly after the season begins and is targeting late June or early July for his return to the Padres' rotation.

| Cory Luebke set to resume throwing after camp |
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com (3/24/13) Padres pitcher Cory Luebke, who had Tommy John surgery in May, is expected to resume throwing after camp breaks in San Diego, according to MLB.com. Luebke has not played catch in nearly three weeks.
"We're giving it a little rest," Luebke said. "It feels good but I've been throwing since November, three times a week. So we're giving it a little time to cool off."
Luebke also said that his inactivity should not affect his timetable. In fact, he is still hopeful of pitching at some point this season -- as early as late June.

| Eager to prove his breakout 2011 -- when he posted a 3.31 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 9.9 strikeouts per nine innings in 17 starts -- wasn't a fluke, Cory Luebke got off to a hot start in 2012, going 3-1 with a 2.61 ERA in five starts. It quickly turned cold, though, when he tore the UCL in his left elbow and wound up missing the rest of the season because of Tommy John surgery. Though he hasn't suffered any setbacks in his recovery, Luebke still has a long way to go, with 12 months usually considered the minimum waiting period before returning from that procedure. Depending on how the season unfolds for the Padres, they might prefer to go ultra-conservative with a building block like Luebke, holding him out until after the All-Star break. Clearly, the 28-year-old has the potential to contribute in Fantasy, but unless you play in a league with ample DL slots or a deep enough NL only format that you wouldn't mind stashing him on your bench, you can probably ignore Luebke on Draft Day.
