Red Sox's Craig Kimbrel: Takes loss in extras against White Sox

by RotoWire Staff | Special to
(6/20/16) Kimbrel (0-3) took the loss after allowing two runs on two hits and a walk with one strikeout while lasting just 0.2 innings in the top of the tenth against the White Sox.

Kimbrel just didn't have it going, giving up a Jose Abreu two-run double that ultimately won the game for Chicago. Despite an ugly 0-3 record, he has generally been his usual self with a 2.57 ERA and minuscule 0.79 WHIP.

Red Sox's Craig Kimbrel: Strikes out the side in Sunday save

by RotoWire Staff | Special to
(6/19/16) Kimbrel struck out the side in a perfect inning Sunday against the Mariners to capture his 16th save of the season.

The hard-throwing righty last blew a save on May 28, but he has followed that with seven scoreless outings and has allowed just two baserunners during that span. Kimbrel now boasts a strong 1.98 ERA and a minuscule 0.70 WHIP this season and has reclaimed his spot as one of the top fantasy relievers in the game.

Red Sox's Craig Kimbrel: Nabs 14th save in extras against Giants

by RotoWire Staff | Special to
(6/8/16) Kimbrel picked up his 14th save as he worked around a hit to record a scoreless 10th inning in Tuesday's win over the Giants.

The hit was just the 12th Kimbrel has allowed in 23.1 innings, but it didn't matter a bit as the Red Sox closer has bounced back from his last blown save to record three straight scoreless outings. Kimbrel's current 2.70 ERA would be the worst of his career, but his 0.87 WHIP would be his best mark since 2012.

Red Sox's Craig Kimbrel: Notches 13th save Saturday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to
(6/5/16) Kimbrel logged his 13th save in Saturday's 6-4 victory over the Blue Jays, giving up only one hit in his one inning.

The 28-year-old closer enjoyed his second straight scoreless appearance, after having blown a save opportunity on May 28 against this same Blue Jays squad. Kimbrel has been largely effective as expected this season, converting 13 of 15 save opportunities and striking out 35 over 22.1 innings.

Red Sox's Craig Kimbrel: Falters in ninth inning Saturday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to
(5/28/16) Kimbrel (0-2) blew his second save of the season in Saturday's 10-9 loss to the Blue Jays, surrendering four hits and two earned runs over 1.1 innings. He struck out two.

It was a rare late-inning failure on the part of the Red Sox closer, who surrendered a game-tying RBI single in the eighth to Jose Bautista that plated Devin Travis, which Kimbrel had inherited from Junichi Tazawa. However, the 28-year-old was fully responsible for what transpired in the ninth, where he gave up a single to Justin Smoak, an RBI double to Russell Martin, and a game-winning infield single to Travis. Kimbrel had successfully converted seven consecutive save opportunities prior to Saturday, and hadn't given up an earned run since April 24 versus the Astros.
