|Chris Capuano tosses quality start in Yankees debut |
|by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com|
(7/26/14) Yankees pitcher Chris Capuano tossed the ball well in his team debut Saturday, but had to settle for a no-decision in the 6-4 loss to the Blue Jays.
Capuano twirled a quality start in the outing, limited the Blue Jays to two runs in six innings of work. He scattered five hits and four walks in the outing, while striking out four on 94 pitches in the no-decision.
Capuano had previously spent time working as a reliever for the Red Sox, and the Yankees acquired him out of the Rockies' minor-league system last week. His next start is set for Friday in Boston.

(7/25/14) Just-acquired left-hander Chris Capuano will make his debut for the pitching-strapped Yankees in a Saturday afternoon start against Toronto.
The 35-year-old Capuano hopes to perform better in a starting role than he did in relief for Boston this season, particularly in his last five outings in June, when he surrendered 10 earned runs on 14 hits and four walks in just four innings.

(7/24/14) The Yankees have acquired veteran left-hander Chris Capuano from the Rockies in exchange for cash considerations, the Journal News reports Thursday. The 35-year-old signed with the Rockies on July 4 and posted a 2.79 ERA in 19 1/3 innings of work between Double-A Tulsa and Triple-A Colorado Springs.

(7/4/14) Veteran left-hander Chris Capuano has been signed by the Rockies to a minor league contract.
Capuano, who was dispatched by Boston on Tuesday and has since cleared waivers and been released, showed little in 28 relief appearances this season. He gave up 34 hits and 15 walks in 31 2/3 innings. This has been his first year in which he has been used exclusively out of the bullpen.
|Red Sox announce pair of roster moves |

(7/1/14) The Red Sox announced Tuesday pitcher Chris Capuano cleared waivers and was released. The team also announced infielder Michael Almanzar, who was chosen by the Orioles in December's Rule 5 draft, was returned to the team after he was designated for assignment Monday.
|Despite posting a career-best 3.72 ERA in 2012, Chris Capuano was tabbed to open the 2013 season in the bullpen after the Dodgers made a few offseason additions to their rotation. However, Capuano only spent a few weeks as a long reliever before moving into the rotation in early May. Although he missed some time in June with a triceps injury, Capuano was able to keep a spot in the rotation until late in the season. The left-hander went 4-7 with a 4.46 ERA and 1.43 WHIP in 20 starts. Though, he was much better as a reliever, tossing 4 2/3 scoreless innings. It wouldn’t be surprising if Capuano finds work as a long reliever/sixth starter in 2014. Though, his upside is probably limited to single-league formats.
