White Sox's Ryan Raburn: Scuffling at Triple-A

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/14/17) Raburn (hip) has just one hit (a home run) in his first three games with Triple-A Charlotte.

Raburn was cut by the Reds after incurring a hip injury during spring training, but it seems like the veteran outfielder's ailment has subsided. That being said, the missed time may have impacted the 35-year-old's performance at the plate, as he has struck out in three of his 10 at-bats already. If Raburn can pick things up at the plate, he could be an option to head up to Chicago to fill in when lefties take the mound for opposing teams, but in the meantime, he'll simply act as organizational depth.

White Sox's Ryan Raburn: Inks deal with White Sox

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/8/17) Raburn (hip) signed a minor league contract with the White Sox on Saturday and will report to Triple-A Charlotte, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

The White Sox acquire one of their greatest nemeses over the past few years, as Raburn has 20 career home runs and 82 RBI against the squad while playing with Detroit and Cleveland. He latches on after being cut by the Reds at the end of spring camp and likely serves as organizational depth, at least until his hip injury subsides. Regardless, Raburn will have to prove himself in the minors after an underwhelming 2016 campaign in which he hit .220/.309/.404 over 113 games with the Rockies.

Ryan Raburn: Let go by Reds

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(3/27/17) Rayburn (hip) was released by the Reds on Monday, Zach Buchanan of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Raburn went 7-for-32 with three home runs and a 5:7 BB:K (.219/.324/.500) this spring before being cut loose. This is somewhat surprising, as the 35-year-old was expected to give the Reds some experience on the bench, but it could have something to do with the recent hip injury Raburn experienced. Either way, he'll now try to catch on with another team.

Reds' Ryan Raburn: Leaves game with hip injury

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(3/26/17) Raburn left Sunday's game with a left hip contusion in the fifth inning, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

The 35-year-old had batted .226 with three homers and seven RBI across 31 spring at-bats with the Reds as a non-roster invitee heading into Sunday's contest. It's unclear how severe the contusion is, how long it will keep him out, or if he'll open the season on the Reds' big league roster. Those interested in his status should stay tuned for updates in the next few days.

Reds' Ryan Raburn: Still likely to make team

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(3/19/17) Raburn is hitting .217/.308/.478 with two homers in 26 plate appearances this spring. Despite the low batting average, he's still likely to make the Reds' Opening Day roster, MLB.com reports.

Raburn hasn't done much to dissuade manager Bryan Price's opinion that he's worthy of the spot. "Ryan Raburn is exactly who he is," Price said. "I don't think spring numbers are going to be a barometer -- good or bad -- for the type of impact he has on a club. He's a kid that wouldn't probably carry a ton of starts over the course of a year. But he's going to give us an experienced bench player. He knows the role. He handles velocity and he's used to facing the better relief pitchers later in the game. That experience to me is important."
