Red Sox's Chris Young: Lands on disabled list Thursday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(6/23/16) Young (hamstring) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Thursday, Sean McAdam of Comcast Sports Net reports.

The Red Sox have yet to announce a corresponding roster move, but Young's placement on the disabled list means one less healthy and major-league-caliber outfielder in Boston. Young appeared to injure his hamstring Thursday while rounding first base and he looked to be in immense pain as he left the field. With Brock Holt (concussion) and Blake Swihart (ankle) also sidelined, Boston could have to get creative with its left field rotation until Holt is ready to return.

Red Sox's Chris Young: Suffers hamstring strain

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(6/23/16) Young sustained a right hamstring strain Thursday, Michael Silverman of the Boston Herald reports.

Young was rounding first base when he clutched for his leg and had to be carted off the field. He will undergo further examination, which should give a better indication of the severity of the ailment and could also provide a more precise timetable. A DL stint for the left fielder is well within the realm of possibility, which could coincide with the impending return of Brock Holt (concussion) in the coming days.

Red Sox's Chris Young: Leaves early Thursday with apparent injury

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(6/23/16) Young was helped off the field with an apparent leg injury in Thursday's game against the White Sox, Alex Speier of the Boston Globe reports.

Young lined a single to left field to lead off the second inning, but pulled up after rounding first base and immediately grabbed for his leg around the hamstring area. More information should become available eventually, but Ryan LaMarre -- who was tabbed to come in after the injury -- figures to be in line for more playing time should Young miss any time with Brock Holt (concussion) still on the shelf.

Red Sox's Chris Young: Moves up in batting order

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(6/23/16) Young batted fifth in the order Wednesday night, going 0-for-5 with a strikeout in Boston's 8-6 loss to the White Sox. He was moved up in the order, taking the spot the slumping Hanley Ramirez had been in for much of the season.

While several of Boston's regulars have slumped in June, Young has been full-value since the middle of May, hitting .302/.378/.600 in the previous 26 games before his 0-fer on Wednesday. He nearly missed a game-winning homer by inches in the eighth inning when his batted ball sailed foul. We'll probably see him stick in the five-hole for now, as Ramirez, Travis Shaw and Jackie Bradley have all hit a June swoon.

Red Sox's Chris Young: Returns from quadriceps injury

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(6/17/16) Young is back in the lineup, playing left field and batting seventh against Seattle on Friday, Scott Lauber of ESPN.com reports.

Young left Wednesday's game with a quadriceps injury but is good to go for Game-1 of Boston's series with Seattle. The 32-year-old was not an everyday player during the start of the season, but given his career-high batting average this year (.286), he's been rewarded with extra playing time, having started 11 of the last 12 games he's been available. During that stretch, he's slashing .326/.383/.721 with five homers.
