Yankees' Chris Young batting third Tuesday

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(5/19/15) Yankees right fielder Chris Young is batting third in Tuesday's matchup with the Nationals.

The Yankees are without typical No. 3 batter Alex Rodriguez as the team is losing the designated hitter in a National League park, so Young will bat third for the second time this season. He has hit .267/.330/.558 with six home runs and 12 RBI in 86 at-bats but has fared much better against lefties, hitting .382/.488/.824 with three home runs in 34 at-bats against southpaws.

The Yankees are underdogs (+130) in the nation's capital on Tuesday, per VegasInsider.com.

Yankees LF Brett Gardner out of Saturday's lineup, Chris Young gets start

by Ted Leshinski | Staff Writer
(5/16/15) The Yankees will not start left fielder Brett Gardner Saturday in Kansas City, instead giving the start to right-handed hitter Chris Young against the Royals lefty starter Danny Duffy.

Gardner, a left-handed hitter, is 1 for 5 against Duffy for his career.

Young will bat second in the lineup.

Yankees give Carlos Beltran a breather on Thursday

by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(5/14/15) Carlos Beltran is out of the starting lineup for the Yankees in Thursday's series-finale with the Rays. Chris Young will get the start in right field and bat sixth for manager Joe Girardi.

Beltran had started 10 straight games for the Yankees, and all but one he started in right field. Over that stretch, Beltran hit .270 (10 for 37) with a pair of home runs and six RBI.

He'll give way to Young who has been slumping lately, hitting just .250 with a double, zero home runs and zero RBI over his last eight games.

Yankees CF Jacoby Ellsbury returns to lineup Tuesday vs. Rays

by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(5/12/15) Yankees center fielder and leadoff hitter Jacoby Ellsbury is back in the starting lineup Tuesday against the Rays. Ellsbury was rested on Monday for just third time this season.

Chris Young , who started in center field on Monday, is on the bench for Tuesday's contest.

Yankees LF Brett Gardner returns to starting lineup Thursday

by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer
(5/7/15) Yankees left fielder Brett Gardner is back in the starting lineup for Thursday's game against the Orioles. Gardner, who missed Wednesday's game due to a stiff neck, will hit second in manager Joe Girardi's batting order.

Chris Young will start the game on the bench Thursday after getting the start on Wednesday.
