Cavaliers' Tristan Thompson: Scores 10 points in return from four-game absence

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/13/17) Thompson (thumb) started at center and provided 10 points (5-6 FG, 0-2 FT), four rebounds and one steal across 18 minutes in a 98-83 loss to the Raptors on Wednesday.

While the Cavaliers limped to the end of the regular season, they can at least take some solace in the fact that their starting center will be ready to go for postseason play after returning from a four-game absence Wednesday. Coach Tyronn Lue didn't hand Thompson his usual minutes load, but the 26-year-old still managed to turn in quality production. After cutting bait with Larry Sanders earlier this week, the Cavaliers brought in Walter Tavares to add some depth at center, but it's not expected that the 7-foot-3 big man will see regular run in the rotation once the postseason begins. As such, Thompson, who was wearing a brace Wednesday to protect his sprained right thumb, could be counted on to shoulder 30-plus minutes in competitive contests throughout the playoffs.

Cavaliers' Tristan Thompson: Will play Wednesday vs. Raptors

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/12/17) Thompson (active) will play in Wednesday's game against the Raptors, Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com reports.

Thompson missed the last four games with a sprain right thumb, but it looks as though the injury isn't providing him with any complications at this point. With postseason play right around the corner, however, it wouldn't be shocking if Thompson didn't see a hefty minutes load Wednesday, even with the Cavaliers already holding out LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love. Expect coach Tyronn Lue to spread the playing time around fairly liberally among all the players who are active Wednesday.

Cavaliers' Tristan Thompson: Probable Wednesday vs. Raptors

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/12/17) Thompson (thumb) is listed as probable for Wednesday's game against the Raptors, Tom Withers of the Associated Press reports.

Thompson has missed the last four games with a sprained right thumb, so his probable designation heading into the regular-season finale is certainly a welcome sign for the Cavs ahead of postseason play. While Thompson shouldn't face any physical limitations Wednesday, coach Tyronn Lue could restrict the center's minutes anyway, as the team seems to have essentially conceded the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference to the Celtics and isn't eager to overwork key players before the postseason begins. Thompson should be in store for around 30 minutes per game once the playoffs get underway.

Cavaliers' Tristan Thompson: Out Monday vs. Heat

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/10/17) Thompson (thumb) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Heat, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.

Thompson will miss his fourth consecutive game with a sprained right thumb, but the Cavaliers haven't closed the door on him returning for the regular-season finale Wednesday against the Raptors. In addition to Thompson, the Cavaliers are holding out LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and (likely) Kevin Love, so almost all of the team's reserves should see sizable increases in playing time.

Cavaliers' Tristan Thompson: Remains out Sunday vs. Hawks

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/9/17) Thompson (thumb) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Hawks, KL Chouinard of Hawks.com reports.

The Cavaliers haven't provided much in the way of an update on Thompson's condition since he first suffered the sprained right thumb in a win Tuesday over the Magic, but he'll be sidelined for the third straight game with the injury. Channing Frye will stick in the starting lineup yet again in Thompson's stead, and could be a quality salary relief option in DFS contests after averaging 13.0 points, 6.5 boards, 1.0 steal and 1.0 block in 21.5 minutes over his prior two starts.
