Cavaliers' Tristan Thompson: Reels off third straight double-double

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/16/17) Thompson recorded 12 points (6-11 FG), 12 rebounds, one assist and one steal across 37 minutes in a 113-104 win over the Pacers on Wednesday.

Thompson had already been enjoying his best stretch of production on the season during the first two weeks of February, but the announcement Tuesday that Kevin Love (knee) would require arthroscopic surgery that would likely sideline him six weeks may only further enhance Thompson's outlook. Though he starts at power forward, Love had been serving as the Cavs' primary center when Thompson was resting on the bench, but the lack of existing depth at the position will likely result in coach Tyronn Lue leaning more heavily on the 25-year-old. Thompson has collected double-doubles in both of the Cavs' games without Love so far and is averaging 13.4 points, 10.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 35.9 minutes per game while shooting 66.7 percent from the field and 65.2 percent from the free-throw line in February. In the unlikely event that he's still on the waiver wire in shallow formats, Thompson is worth adding immediately.

Cavaliers' Tristan Thompson: Produces double-double in win over T-Wolves

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/14/17) Thompson produced 14 points (6-7 FG, 2-3 FT), 11 rebounds and one assist across 35 minutes during Tuesday's 116-108 win over the T-Wolves.

Thompson crashed the boards with his usual aplomb and played excellent defense on Karl-Anthony Towns at times, rounding out his double-double with an efficient night shooting the ball. Though Thompson is averaging under 30 minutes per game on the season, the long-term absence of Kevin Love (knee) should see the team lean on him even more for his rebounding prowess, with the more consistent court time seemingly likely to boost his overall production.

Cavaliers' Tristan Thompson: Notches double-double in win

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/7/17) Thompson scored 22 points (10-13 FG, 2-4 FT) with 12 rebounds and two assists across 41 minutes in Monday's 140-135 win over the Wizards.

Thompson finished the game with new season-highs in points and minutes, and the Canadian center's stock appears to be trending up. Monday's contest also marked the first time all season that Thompson has scored 10 or more points in three consecutive games, and he's shot an extremely efficient 68.4 percent over that span.

Cavaliers' Tristan Thompson: Delivers robust line in Sunday's win

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(1/29/17) Thompson tallied 19 points (7-15 FG, 5-5 FT), 12 rebounds, four steals, four blocks, and one assist in 34 minutes during Sunday's 107-91 win over the Thunder.

Thompson finished with season highs in scoring, steals, shot attempts, and made free throws while matching his season high in blocks. Thompson was shooting 39.1 percent from the charity stripe on 3.5 attempts per game in January entering Sunday's showdown, so it was a pleasant surprise to see him sinking so many freebies.

Cavaliers' Tristan Thompson: Free-throw woes continue in Wednesday's loss

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(1/26/17) Thompson logged six points (2-3 FG, 2-6 FT), eight rebounds, one assist and one block across 32 minutes in a 116-112 loss to the Kings on Wednesday.

Thompson's offensive game has largely been limited to finishing off lobs and put-back opportunities throughout his career, but he's been leaving more points than ever on the table due to his season-long free-throw woes. He's shooting an ugly 40.9 percent from the line in January, and a career-worst 48.1 percent on the season. Until he makes more progress in that area, Thompson will have an even tougher time challenging for double-digit points than he previously did, making him more of a one-category (rebounds) option than usual.
