Lebron James: Cavaliers should keep Tristan Thompson

by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(5/25/15) Cavaliers forward LeBron James made a pitch for the team to hold onto center Tristan Thompson.

The Cavs passed on the chance to extend Thompson prior to the season, but, after he averaged 8.5 points and 8.0 rebounds this year, James is ready to endorse him for the long term.

"Tristan should probably be a Cavalier for his whole career," James said on Monday, per Cleveland.com. "There's no reason why he shouldn't. This guy is 24 years old. He's played in 340?plus straight games, and he's gotten better every single season. It's almost like, 'What more can you ask out of a guy?'"

Hawks' Paul Millsap 'wouldn't mind' guarding LeBron in Game 2

by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com
(5/21/15) With Hawks forward DeMarre Carroll battling a knee injury, teammate Paul Millsap volunteered to guard LeBron James in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference finals.

Millsap said he "wouldn't mind" guarding LeBron, per Cleveland.com.

After making the offer, Millsap admitted that me might be best used elsewhere.

"We've got to be smart about it," he said. "If they've got (Timofey) Mozgov and Tristan Thompson in the game, more than likely not. Probably need to put a body on Tristan Thompson. Maybe if they go to a smaller lineup."

Tristan Thompson: 'Ready to bang' against Hawks

(5/19/15) Center Tristan Thompson is ready for the physicality that awaits his Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals against the Hawks, despite his bruised left shoulder, according to the Associated Press.

"I'm ready to bang," Thompson said.

Since entering the starting lineup in Game 2 of the Chicago series, he has averaged 8.5 points and 9.4 rebounds per game.

The Cavs and Hawks will tip-off Game 1 of the series on Wednesday.

Thompson is suffering from a shoulder injury.

The Cavaliers open the Eastern Conference finals on Wednesday.

Cavaliers PG Kyrie Irving happy Tristan Thompson starting

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(5/6/15) The placement of Cavaliers power forward Tristan Thompson into the starting lineup for Game 4 has point guard Kyrie Irving smiling a bit more.

"We get our 3-man back," Irving told Bleacher Report.

Irving was referring to LeBron James, who was forced to play power forward in the opener as a replacement for injured Kevin Love. Irving prefers James to push the pace with him rather than play in the post.

The insertion of Thompson into a starting role prevents the Cavaliers from bringing any big men off the bench unless they are willing to play little-used Kendrick Perkins.
