| Fantasy Analysis |
Ibaka took a solid step forward this season, scoring a career-high 13.2 points per game despite seeing just a small increase in playing time. Ibaka shot a career-high 57.4 percent from the field and added a three-point shot, making 20 3-points on 36.4 percent shooting. Ibaka tossed in a solid 3.1 blocks and 7.8 rebounds per game, making him a solid Fantasy option across the board. He is just 24 on opening night next season, so there is plenty of room for further development. At this point, Ibaka should be targeted in the early rounds in most Fantasy formats on Draft Day next season. (Updated 4/12/13). |
| Serge Ibaka threw a block part last season and apparently invited the entire NBA. The 22-year-old finished with at least one block in all but three of the 66 games he appeared in the regular season and wound up leading the league, posting an absurd 3.7 swats per game. Unfortunately the rest of Ibaka's game actually took a little hit as he saw his scoring average drop off from 9.9 ppg to 9.1 during the 2011-12 campaign. His field-goal percentage also took a small hit but he still wound up making 53 percent of the shots he took. The biggest knock on Ibaka continues to be his limited offensive game and free-throw shooting, especially after making just 66 percent of his free-throws last year. However, he was still able to pull down nearly 7.5 boards per contest and once again proved to be durable as he started all 66 games during the NBA's lockout shortened schedule last year. While Ibaka did finish as one of the top 50 scoring Fantasy forwards in Head-to-Head formats, his value is considerably higher in Rotisserie formats based on his shot-blocking abilities, rebounding numbers and field-goal percentage. Fantasy owners should plan on targeting Ibaka in the middle rounds on Draft Day next season. (Updated 8/22/12) |
