Thornton proves worth in second half: Kings guard Marcus Thornton struggled to get going in the first half of this season, but he finally found his stride after the All-Star break. He averaged 14.6 points per game in 28 second half games, while shooting a blistering 47.0 percent from the field. After one of the team's late season games, the Sacramento Bee reported that the team was finding success in a smaller lineup, which allowed him to focus more on scoring and shooting, with other ball handlers on the floor. It's easy to play like that when you have guys that are unselfish like Toney and Isaiah, Tyreke (Evans) and those guys," Thornton said. "It makes my job easier just go out and run." With a crowded backcourt, it could be a look the Kings go to more often next season to get Thornton going. (Updated 4/24/13) |

| Fantasy Analysis |
Thornton's scoring fell this season to 12.7 per game, the lowest total of his career. His second-half improvement is promising, but the Kings have a lot of tough decisions to make about their backcourt, and they apparently found giving minutes to Thornton was not a priority last season. The 25-year-old could be a prime bounceback candidate next season, but targeting him carries plenty of risk. Given the current makeup of the Kings' roster, Thornton is more of a low-end Fantasy option, worth targeting in the later rounds on Draft Day. (Updated 4/24/13). |

Grizzlies complete season sweep of Kings
Mike Conley scored 25 points, making the go-ahead basket with 30 seconds left and leading the Memphis Grizzlies to an 89-87 victory over the struggling Sacramento Kings on Sunday night.

| Ever since a mid-season trade to Sacramento during 2010-11, Marcus Thornton has thrived as a scorer. He has averaged 19.6 points in 78 games in that time, which is a pretty solid sample size to say that he can probably keep this up. He does not bring much else to the table, but it is hard to argue with a guy who finished just outside of the top-20 in points per game last season. The Kings seem comfortable going with him as their primary scorer on the perimeter, and they have no plans of slowing down what was the fastest offense in the league, which should lead to plenty of opportunities for the 25-year-old. He is a solid No. 2 Fantasy guard in all formats for the coming season. (Updated 9/26/12) |
