Cavaliers' Kyrie Irving: Contributes 26 points in Game 5

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(6/12/17) Irving tallied 26 points (9-22 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 7-7 FT), six assists, two rebounds and two steals over 42 minutes during Monday's 129-120 loss to the Warriors in Game 5 of the NBA Finals.

After back-to-back stellar shooting efforts, Irving had some trouble finding the net Monday, posting his second-lowest field-goal percentage of the series. The 25-year-old scored at least 24 points in four of the five games versus the Warriors and served as an effective complementary presence to LeBron James. Irving enjoyed a productive postseason overall, eclipsing 30 points twice and posting 40 and 42 points, respectively, in two other games. He'll head into the 2017-18 regular season coming off a campaign in which he averaged a career-high 25.2 points on a career-best 47.3 percent shooting.

Cavaliers' Kyrie Irving: Explodes for 40 points in Game 4 win

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(6/10/17) Irving tallied a game-high 40 points (15-27 FG, 7-12 3Pt, 3-4 FT) to go with seven rebounds, four assists and one steal across 41 minutes in a 137-116 Game 4 win over the Warriors.

Irving and the Cavaliers ensured that the Warriors wouldn't end the postseason with a perfect 16-0 record, as he blitzed the visitors from the opening tip with 11 points in the first quarter and finished the first half with 28 points, many of the highlight-reel variety. After two underwhelming games to open the series, Irving got back on track with 78 points the last two contests in Cleveland, but the Cavaliers will need to carry over that success to the road if they're to prolong the series.

Cavaliers' Kyrie Irving: Scores 38 points in Game 3 loss

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(6/8/17) Irving totaled 38 points (16-29 FG, 0-7 3Pt, 6-6 FT), six rebounds, and three assists in 44 minutes during Wednesday's 118-113 loss to the Warriors in Game 3.

Irving had combined to contribute 43 points on 45 shot attempts during the first two games of this series, but his offensive explosion in Game 3 wasn't enough to turn the tides. Irving was dominant from inside the arc, yet he failed to make a three-pointer for just the second time this postseason, this after sinking at least one trey in 67 of 72 regular season bouts in 2016-17. Nevertheless, Irving will likely look to remain aggressive as the Cavaliers try to stave off elimination in Friday's Game 4.

Cavaliers' Kyrie Irving: Contributes 24 points in Game 1 loss

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(6/2/17) Irving tallied 24 points (10-22 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 1-1 FT), three rebounds, two assists and one block over 35 minutes during Thursday's 113-91 loss to the Warriors in Game 1 of the NBA finals.

Irving led the Cavs in shot attempts on the night as he and LeBron James essentially put the team's offense on their respective shoulders. The All-Star guard's 45.5 percent success rate from the floor did snap the impressive four-game streak of at least 60 percent shooting that Irving had put together in the conference finals versus the Celtics, but he managed to drain a postseason-high 75 percent of his three-point attempts. The 25-year-old will look to play a pivotal role once again as the Cavs attempt to score an upset in Game 2 on Sunday night.

Cavaliers' Kyrie Irving: Pours in 24 in series-clinching victory

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(5/26/17) Irving supplied 24 points (9-15 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 2-2 FT), seven assists, two rebounds and two steals over 32 minutes during Thursday's 135-102 win over the Celtics in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference finals.

After a modest Game 1 of the series in which he only mustered 11 points, Irving bounced back to average 29.5 points over the remaining four games. His assist total Thursday also matched his series high, and he managed to drain at least 60 percent of his shots for the fourth straight contest. Irving excelled during last season's Finals confrontation with the Warriors (27.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 2.1 steals) and will likely need to duplicate or exceed that effort to help the Cavaliers clinch a second consecutive NBA championship.
