Cavaliers' Kyrie Irving: Generates 26 points, five assists Friday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(1/14/17) Irving put up 26 points (10-22 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 4-4 FT), five assists, three rebounds and one steal across 35 minutes in a 120-108 win over the Kings on Friday.

After a pair of back-to-back poor shooting outings that limited his scoring outputs, Irving busted out of the slump to some degree as the Cavs snapped a two-game losing streak. With LeBron James handling more of the facilitating duties, Irving was able to lead the team in scoring, and while he wasn't all that accurate from three-point range, the point guard was quite effective closer to the rim. This outing should provide a needed confidence boost for Irving heading into a rematch Monday with the Warriors, who he memorably carved up for 25 points, 10 assists, seven steals and six rebounds in the Cavs' Christmas Day win.

Cavaliers' Kyrie Irving: Drains four three-pointers versus Suns

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(1/9/17) Irving scored 27 points (10-20 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 3-3 FT) to go along with seven assists, two rebounds and one steal across 40 minutes in Sunday's 120-116 win over the Suns.

Irving aggressively looked for his shot in this contest and was especially effective from three-point range, as his four makes from downtown were his most in over a month. He missed three games with a hamstring issue but has averaged 29.5 points, 5.5 assists, 3.5 treys and 1.5 steals in two games since returning, quelling any concerns about his health moving forward.

Cavaliers' Kyrie Irving: Grinds out 32 points despite ailing hamstring

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(1/7/17) Irving scored 32 points (10-26 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 9-9 FT), to go along with four assists, three rebounds and two steals in 36 minutes during Friday's 116-108 win over the Nets.

After sitting out three games with a hamstring injury, it wasn't unreasonable to expect Irving to come out with just a smidge less of his signature attacking mentality. Then, as he began slashing into the lane and flinging up pull-up jumpers, it became apparent that Irving would skip any and all "feeling-out processes." Irving put up 26 field goal attempts, the second most he's attempted all season, and came up huge in the fourth quarter when the Nets staged a bug run.

Cavaliers' Kyrie Irving: Confirmed to play Friday vs. Nets

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(1/6/17) Coach Tyronn Lue confirmed that Irving (hamstring) will play Friday against the Nets, Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com reports.

After missing the past three games with an ailing hamstring, Irving took part in the Cavs' morning shootaround and was considered probable, but Lue eliminated any lingering mystery about the point guard's status by indicating that he would play. It's fully expected that Irving will reclaim his spot in the starting five, though Lue could still look to limit the 24-year-old's minutes a bit while the Cavaliers take on an inferior opponent that will likely be missing one of its top playmakers in Jeremy Lin (hamstring). That being said, any playing-time restriction Irving might face likely wouldn't be significant, so he's still worth activating if fantasy owners happened to move him to their bench or injury list during his absence.

Cavaliers' Kyrie Irving: Listed as probable Friday vs. Nets

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(1/6/17) Irving (hamstring) is listed as probable for Friday's game against the Nets, Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com reports.

According to Vardon, Irving, who has missed the last three games with a minor hamstring strain, was able to go through a workout prior to the Cavs' morning shootaround, and his probable designation for Friday would imply that he looked healthy during that session. The Cavaliers will presumably issue another update on Irving's status before the 7:30 p.m. ET tip time against the Nets, but it looks promising that the point guard may be able to take on his regular workload while settling back in as a member of the starting five, pushing Jordan McRae to the bench. Fantasy owners can probably feel comfortable with reinserting Irving into lineups if he was deactivated in light of the injury.
