Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki not thinking about retirement
|by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com|
|(4/14/15) With Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki nearing the end of his 17th season in the NBA, he said his recent play has provided confidence he can continue to produce at a high level, reports The Dallas Morning News.
"You know, all the work I put in last summer, I felt amazing in November, so when I went through these droughts here, starting in December and then I couldn't really turn the corner again, there's doubt creeping in," Nowitzki said. "But in my head I was saying, 'I felt amazing in November, I played amazing, I felt amazing, I moved great, I shot great. Just hopefully eventually get over everything in my body and feel good again and then I still think you can play at a high level.'"
Nowitzki's efficiently has increased as the season comes to a close, which he said was perfect timing for the playoffs.
“To me, it obviously couldn't have happened at a better time," he said. "Usually I'm a big fan of springtime, it gets warmer out, the feel of it and the playoffs around the corner is usually my time so I'm glad it happened around the right time."

F Dirk Nowitzki leads Mavs with 25 points, 9 rebounds in 2OT win
|by Ted Leshinski | Staff Writer|
|(4/11/15) Power forward Dirk Nowitzki went for 25 points and nine rebounds in the Mavericks' 144-143 double-overtime victory against the Nuggets on Friday.|
Nowitzki shot 10 of 19 from the floor and added four assists and three blocks in the win.
|Last season proved that you can somewhat ignore a player's age if that player happens to be Dirk Nowitzki. At 35 years old, the veteran big man joined a select group of hall-of-fame players who have averaged more than 20 points per game at 35 or older. So not only did Nowitzki join the likes of Michael Jordan, Larry Bird and Karl Malone, he also played in 80 games and logged 30-plus minutes in 66 of them. Expect more the same next year. He's an elite scorer with great shooting percentages across the board -- 49.7 percent from the field, 89.9 percent from the free throw line and 39.8 percent from three last season. He's pretty lackluster in every other category, but his top-tier consistency and efficiency makes him worth a third-round pick in Rotisserie leagues and a fourth-rounder in points leagues.
