Carlos Boozer: Signs contract in China

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(7/31/16) Boozer signed a contract with the Guandong Tigers of the Chinese Basketball Association, David Pick of Basketball Insiders reports.

Boozer took the 2015-16 season off in order to spend time with his family. He hoped to return to the NBA for the upcoming year, but likely didn't find many suitors, so he'll head to China to continue his basketball career. Boozer's contract with Guandong likely has an opt out clause, giving him the chance to bolt to the NBA later in the season if injuries strike a contending team. However, there's no guarantee he eventually gets that call. Even if he does end up in the NBA at some point, Boozer will likely have a tough time having any sort of fantasy value.

Carlos Boozer: Hopes to return to NBA

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(7/3/16) Boozer is hopeful to return to the NBA during the upcoming season, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports.

Following a disappointing 2014-15 campaign with an awful Lakers squad in which he averaged 11.8 points and 6.8 rebounds in 23.8 minutes per game, Boozer decided to take the past season off to spend time with his family. During that hiatus, Boozer continued to train regularly in Miami, and believes he's capable of serving as a mentor for young players and providing some minutes off the bench for a team in need of a veteran in the frontcourt. If Boozer is serious about a return, he'll likely have to wait a few weeks before landing a contract, as several younger, higher-upside free agent big men have set to sign with teams. It would be difficult for Boozer to attain fantasy relevance no matter where he lands.

Report: Fading PF Carlos Boozer targeted by several teams

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(7/6/15) Several teams are in the mix to land veteran power forward Carlos Boozer, sources have told ESPN, which is claiming he has had conversations with the Clippers, Spurs, Mavericks and Raptors.

The 33-year-old Boozer showed signs of age last season with the Lakers. He averaged just 11.8 points a game, his lowest since his rookie year, and a career-worst 6.8 rebounds. But he was limited to 24 minutes per game and shot nearly 50 percent from the floor.

Report: Heat targeting PG J.J. Barea, PF Carlos Boozer

by Elliott Smith | Staff Writer
(7/2/15) According to reports, the Heat are on the verge of signing veteran point guard J.J. Barea to a backup role and are exploring the possibility of acquiring power forward Carlos Boozer, per the Palm Beach Post

The Heat are crowded at guard, which may make Mario Chalmers the odd-man out given his $4.3 million salary. Barea averaged 7.5 points and 3.7 assists for the Mavericks last season.

Boozer could be viewed as a replacement for Chris Andersen. Boozer is not a strong defender, but did average 17.8 points last season for the Lakers.

Carlos Boozer wants to return to Lakers if team will compete

by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(4/16/15) Fresh off a 21-61 season, Lakers forward Carlos Boozer said he'd be willing to return to the team if it's competitive, reports the Los Angeles Daily News.

"If they have a team that could compete, I'd love to come back," Boozer said.

Despite the struggles throughout the season, Boozer said coach Byron Scott did a good job of fostering a winning environment.

Boozer added that he would be accepting of a bench role if that's what it takes to be on a winning team.
