Bucks F Caron Butler set to be waived to pursue free agency

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(6/12/15) Veteran forward Caron Butler is not long for the Bucks, to whom he was just dealt. He has confirmed via text that he will be waived before July 1 and will become a free agent. The team is seeking to create cap space.

The 35-year-old Butler took a huge hit statistically in 2014. He averaged 5.9 points per game - the first time in single figures since his second year in the league.

Bucks trade Ilyasova to Pistons for Butler, Williams

by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(6/11/15) The Bucks agreed to trade forward Ersan Ilyasova to the Pistons in exchange for Caron Butler and Shawne Williams, the Pistons announced

Ilyasova averaged 11.5 points and 4.8 rebounds in 58 games during the 2014-15 season. Meanwhile, Butler averaged 5.9 points and Williams averaged 5.4 points.

Pistons F Caron Butler would like to return next season

by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(4/21/15) Pistons forward Caron Butler said he feels playing in Detroit is a good fit for him, reports the Detroit Free Press.

"I'm in a good situation," he said. "I like where we're at. I like what we've been able to accomplish, being better than we were prior, and I feel like I've got my fingerprints all over these guys. So it's a great opportunity to come back and continue the thing on."

Despite coming off a career low in points and minutes, Butler said if he doesn't play for the Pistons next season, he would like to play for a contender.

"If not, obviously, the best thing for me is to contend," Butler said. "It's either one or the other. But I won't be looking for another situation to start over with some guys and stuff like that again. It's either do this or contend for it all."

New Pistons Jackson, Prince ruled out for Friday

by Jason Butt | CBSSports.com
(2/20/15) The Pistons will be without guard Reggie Jackson and forward Tayshaun Prince for Friday night's game against the Bulls, according to the Oakland Press.

Both players were acquired by Detroit just before Thursday's trade deadline.

With Jackson and Prince on the bench, Spencer Dinwiddie will start at point guard and Caron Butler will start at small forward.

Jackson will likely enter the starting lineup for the Pistons on Sunday against the Wizards.

Pistons' Caron Butler, Cartier Martin out Wednesday

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(2/11/15) Pistons forwards Caron Butler (back) and Cartier Martin (ankle) will not play in Wednesday's game against the Spurs, Pistons.com reports.

Butler will be missing his second game in as many nights due to back spasms. Martin has played just once in Detroit's last nine games and is nursing a right ankle injury.

The Pistons are 6 1/2-point underdogs at home against the Spurs Wednesday.
