Rockets' Nene Hilario: Ruled out for postseason

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(5/8/17) Hilario has been ruled out for the rest of the postseason due to a left adductor tear.

The injury was originally ruled as a groin strain when Hilario was forced to leave early in Sunday's Game 4, but it ends up the tear was in his thigh and he will now be unable to return during the playoffs. Hilario was serving a key role off a very thin Rockets bench, but now, with his absence, Houston may have to play Ryan Andersen more often at center in smaller lineups and lean on starter Clint Capela for more minutes at the position. If needed, Montrezl Harrell could also see some more minutes off the bench as well, although he's played just 17 total minutes through nine postseason games so far.

Rockets' Nene Hilario: Won't return to Sunday's game

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(5/7/17) Hilario will not return to Sunday's Game 4 against the Spurs due to a left groin pull, Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Hilario had played just two minutes and scored two points before having to exit Sunday's game, and his inability to return leaves Houston with major depth problems in the frontcourt. Look for the Rockets to go smaller and for Ryan Anderson to potentially see more minutes at the center position, especially with Clint Capela in early foul trouble. Hilario should be considered questionable for Game 5.

Rockets' Nene Hilario: Posts playoff career-high 28 points in Game 4 win

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/23/17) Hilario had 28 points (12-12 FG, 4-7 FT), 10 rebounds, one assist, and one steal in 25 minutes during Sunday's 113-109 win against the Thunder in Game 4.

Hilario had more points in Game 4 than he did in the first three games of the first round, and this was his first double-double since November of 2015. Hilario also finished with a playoff career high in scoring, and the 34-year-old veteran came up huge on a day when Rockets' starting center Clint Capela was really struggling.

Rockets' Nene Hilario: Not on injury report Wednesday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/11/17) Hilario (hand) isn't listed on the Rockets' injury report ahead of Wednesday's game against the Timberwolves, Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports.

After sitting out Sunday's game against the Kings for rest purposes, Hilario was on the bench again for the second half of the back-to-back set Monday against the Clippers with a sore right hand. Unless coach Mike D'Antoni indicates otherwise following morning shootaround Wednesday, Hilario should suit up in what will be his final tuneup before the playoffs. However, Hilario may not take on his usual 18-to-22 minutes, as D'Antoni could look to get youngsters Montrezl Harrell and Chinanu Onuaku some burn off the bench as well.

Rockets' Nene Hilario: Will not play Monday with sore hand

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/9/17) Hilario (rest) will sit out Monday's tilt against the Clippers due to soreness in his right hand, Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports.

It was originally thought that coach Mike D'Antoni would just opt to rest Hilario during Sunday's game against the Kings to keep him fresh for the playoffs. But, it appears that Hilario is dealing with soreness in his hand, which will keep him sidelined for Monday's action as well. Look for Montrezl Harrell to pick up Hilario's minutes while he's absent. He should be considered questionable for the team's final game Wednesday against the Timberwolves until further notice.
