Rockets' Nene Hilario: Posts playoff career-high 28 points in Game 4 win

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/23/17) Hilario had 28 points (12-12 FG, 4-7 FT), 10 rebounds, one assist, and one steal in 25 minutes during Sunday's 113-109 win against the Thunder in Game 4.

Hilario had more points in Game 4 than he did in the first three games of the first round, and this was his first double-double since November of 2015. Hilario also finished with a playoff career high in scoring, and the 34-year-old veteran came up huge on a day when Rockets' starting center Clint Capela was really struggling.

Rockets' Nene Hilario: Not on injury report Wednesday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/11/17) Hilario (hand) isn't listed on the Rockets' injury report ahead of Wednesday's game against the Timberwolves, Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports.

After sitting out Sunday's game against the Kings for rest purposes, Hilario was on the bench again for the second half of the back-to-back set Monday against the Clippers with a sore right hand. Unless coach Mike D'Antoni indicates otherwise following morning shootaround Wednesday, Hilario should suit up in what will be his final tuneup before the playoffs. However, Hilario may not take on his usual 18-to-22 minutes, as D'Antoni could look to get youngsters Montrezl Harrell and Chinanu Onuaku some burn off the bench as well.

Rockets' Nene Hilario: Will not play Monday with sore hand

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/9/17) Hilario (rest) will sit out Monday's tilt against the Clippers due to soreness in his right hand, Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports.

It was originally thought that coach Mike D'Antoni would just opt to rest Hilario during Sunday's game against the Kings to keep him fresh for the playoffs. But, it appears that Hilario is dealing with soreness in his hand, which will keep him sidelined for Monday's action as well. Look for Montrezl Harrell to pick up Hilario's minutes while he's absent. He should be considered questionable for the team's final game Wednesday against the Timberwolves until further notice.

Rockets' Nene Hilario: Sitting out for rest Sunday vs. Kings

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/9/17) Hilario will sit out Sunday's game against the Kings for rest purposes, Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Coach Mike D'Antoni noted Friday that of his rotation regulars, only James Harden and Patrick Beverley specifically asked not to be rested over the Rockets' final three games, so it doesn't come as much of a surprise that Hilario will be held out for the front end of a back-to-back set, along with Trevor Ariza and Eric Gordon. Hilario's absence should open up another sizable workload off the bench for Montrezl Harrell, who benefited from fellow center Clint Capela sitting out Friday's loss to the Pistons. While working as Hilario's backup in that contest, Harrell put up 13 points (5-6 FG, 3-4 FT), two rebounds, two assists and two blocks in 27 minutes.

Rockets' Nene Hilario: Offers limited production in spot start

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/8/17) Hilario started at center and provided eight points (4-7 FG, 0-2 FT), six rebounds and two assists across 13 minutes in a 114-109 loss to the Pistons on Friday.

Hilario was promoted to the top unit with Clint Capela (rest) sitting out for the night, but coach Mike D'Antoni still opted to limit the veteran's playing time, as reserve big man Montrezl Harrell (13 points in 27 minutes) ended up seeing most of the run at center. The Rockets were still better when Hilario was on the floor -- the Brazilian finished with a team-best plus-11 mark -- so he should be D'Antoni's preferred backup option to Capela once the postseason arrives. However, since the Rockets are already locked into the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference, it's not expected that Hilario will regularly clear 20 minutes over the final three contests with the team wanting to keep the 34-year-old as fresh as possible for the playoffs.
