Nene Hilario: Re-ups with Rockets for three years

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(7/2/17) Hilario (groin) has agreed to sign a three-year, $11 million contract with the Rockets, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.com reports.

Hilario originally singed a four-year deal with the Rockets late last week, but the league denied it due to the current over-38 rule. However, as expected he's now agreed to a revised three-year deal, so the veteran is slated to be back for his second season in Houston. Hilario should slot back in as one of the top big men off the bench, but his age and injury history largely hold him to short stints on the floor, which restricts his overall fantasy upside. Hilario averaged 9.1 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.0 assist across 17.9 minutes during the 2016-17 campaign.

Rockets' Nene Hilario: Remains a free agent

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(7/1/17) Updating a previous report, Hilario (groin) has not agreed to terms with the Rockets, and remains a free agent, Marc J. Spears of ESPN reports.

It was previously reported that Hilario had agreed to a four-year, $15 million contract with the Rockets, but the offer was, in fact, for three years and $10 million. The veteran big man was disappointed with the offer and is "back at square one in free agency," per Spears. It's still possible he could reach an agreement to remain in Houston, but the 34-year-old's future with the organization is now very much in limbo.

Rockets' Nene Hilario: Agrees to deal with Rockets

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(7/1/17) Hilario (groin) has agreed to a four-year, $15 million contract with the Rockets, Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Currently at 34 years old, it would be impressive if Hilario managed to play out all four years of this contract, in Houston or elsewhere. Nevertheless, he put a solid season together in Houston this past year and will likely slot into a similar role off the bench in 2017-18, assuming he's able to recover from the left adductor tear that brought his 2016-17 season to an abrupt end while Houston was in the midst of their unsuccesful playoff campaign.

Rockets' Nene Hilario: Ruled out for postseason

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(5/8/17) Hilario has been ruled out for the rest of the postseason due to a left adductor tear.

The injury was originally ruled as a groin strain when Hilario was forced to leave early in Sunday's Game 4, but it ends up the tear was in his thigh and he will now be unable to return during the playoffs. Hilario was serving a key role off a very thin Rockets bench, but now, with his absence, Houston may have to play Ryan Andersen more often at center in smaller lineups and lean on starter Clint Capela for more minutes at the position. If needed, Montrezl Harrell could also see some more minutes off the bench as well, although he's played just 17 total minutes through nine postseason games so far.

Rockets' Nene Hilario: Won't return to Sunday's game

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(5/7/17) Hilario will not return to Sunday's Game 4 against the Spurs due to a left groin pull, Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Hilario had played just two minutes and scored two points before having to exit Sunday's game, and his inability to return leaves Houston with major depth problems in the frontcourt. Look for the Rockets to go smaller and for Ryan Anderson to potentially see more minutes at the center position, especially with Clint Capela in early foul trouble. Hilario should be considered questionable for Game 5.
