Rockets' Nene Hilario: Plays only eight minutes in return

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(12/6/16) Hilario (knee) played eight minutes in Monday's 107-106 win over the Celtics, offering up one point (0-2 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 1-2 FT), one rebound and one steal.

Hilario had been held out of the Rockets' previous two games with a sore knee, and though he was cleared to suit up Monday, coach Mike D'Antoni elected to give him only limited run. Instead, Montrezl Harrell, who had worked as starting center Clint Capela's top backup while Hilario was out, ended up sticking in the rotation and played 19 minutes. Though quite undersized for a frontcourt player at 6-foot-8, Harrell's high energy and athleticism may allow him to cut further into Hilario's workload, especially if the Rockets look to preserve the aging big man for the long haul.

Rockets' Nene Hilario: Will take the court Monday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(12/5/16) Hilario (knee) has been cleared to play in Monday's game against the Celtics, Mark Berman of Fox 26 Houston reports.

Hilario took Thursday's game off for rest and was expected to be available to play on Friday, but ended up getting another night off, as he was dealing with some lingering soreness in his knee. He was able to go through warmups without any setbacks Monday and as expected, he'll be back in the regular rotation. With Hilario back in the lineup, look for Montrezl Harrell to see his playing time decrease off the bench.

Rockets' Nene Hilario: Expected to play Monday vs. Celtics

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(12/4/16) Hilario, who sat out Friday's win over the Nuggets due to a sore right knee, is expected to play Monday against the Celtics, ESPN.com's Calvin Watkins reports.

After sitting out Thursday's double-overtime win over the Warriors for rest, it was a bit surprising that Hilario was sidelined for the second half of the back-to-back set Friday, but now we have a better explanation. The big man was apparently nursing the minor knee injury, though coach Mike D'Antoni suggested he was still held out Friday mainly for maintenance reasons. Assuming Hilario endures no further setbacks heading into Monday, look for him to slot back in as the main backup to starting center Dwight Howard, with Montrezl Harrell plummeting to third on the depth chart.

Rockets' Nene Hilario: Sits out for rest Thursday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(12/1/16) Hilario will sit out Thursday's game against the Warriors for rest, but will be available to play Friday against the Nuggets, Calvin Watkins of ESPN.com reports.

The Nuggets are heading into another back-to-back set, so they'll give their 34-year-old big man the night off Thursday to avoid a heavy workload. His absence will likely provide additional minutes for guys like Montrezl Harrell and Sam Dekker in the frontcourt, although look for Hilario to return to the lineup Friday as Clint Capela''s backup at center.

Rockets' Nene Hilario: To sit out for rest Thursday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(11/17/16) Hilario will sit out Thursday's game against the Trail Blazers for rest, Mike Richman of The Oregonian reports.

At 34 years old, the Rockets are just trying to give their veteran big man some additional rest, so he'll get the night off Thursday, but isn't in danger of missing additional time. He should be back in the lineup come Saturday's matchup with the Jazz, but in the meantime, his absence Thursday should provide additional minutes for Montrezl Harrell off the bench behind starter Clint Capela at center.
