Grizzlies' Tony Allen: Grabs second double-double in three games

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(12/9/16) Allen registered 15 points (6-10 FG, 3-5 FT), 10 rebounds, two steals and one assist across 29 minutes in Thursday's 88-86 win over the Trail Blazers.

Allen continues to step up with the Grizzlies still down several key regulars due to injury, as this was his second double-double in three games. With Chandler Parsons (knee) and James Ennis (calf) still set to miss multiple games and Mike Conley (back) likely out until mid-to-late January, Allen should enjoy a stable 25-to-30-minute workload so long as his body can hold up. That's not a given in light of the extensive injury woes Allen has endured both this season and in years past, but with his health on solid ground for the time being, he might be worth a look in deeper leagues. He's averaging 11.5 points (on 52.7% shooting), 7.4 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.3 assists in 29.1 minutes per game over his last eight contests.

Grizzlies' Tony Allen: Goes off for 19 points, 14 boards in win

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(12/6/16) Allen recorded 19 points (9-14 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 1-2 FT), 14 rebounds, three steals and one block across 42 minutes in Monday's 110-108 double-overtime win over the Pelicans.

Allen took advantage of the extra two periods of play as well as the Grizzlies' extensive injuries on the wing to record season bests in minutes, points and rebounds while logging two or more steals for the third game in a row. The veteran's production is expected to remain more stable in the latter two defensive categories over the long haul, but with all of Chandler Parsons (knee), James Ennis (calf) and Vince Carter (hip) still sidelined, Allen will see a larger role than normal on the offensive end out of necessity. With those three players out for each of the past four games, Allen has averaged 12.0 points (on 52.5% shooting), 8.3 rebounds, 2.3 steals and 1.3 assists, production that may warrant a short-term pickup in deeper leagues.

Grizzlies' Tony Allen: Scores nine points in 27 minutes Thursday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(12/2/16) Allen generated nine points (4-11 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 1-2 FT), six rebounds and three steals across 27 minutes in Thursday's 95-94 win over the Magic.

The injury-ravaged Grizzlies have been forced to play with only nine players in both of the last two games, but it hasn't translated to much of a spike in playing time or production for Allen. He's averaging a respectable 10.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.0 assist in 28.0 minutes per game over those contests, which still might be useful enough in deep leagues. However, it seems as though those statistics may represent the upper bound of the production he's capable of delivering.

Grizzlies' Tony Allen: Plays season-high 34 minutes in Saturday's win

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(11/27/16) Allen picked up 11 points (4-9 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 3-4 FT), eight rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block across 34 minutes in Saturday's 110-107 win over the Heat.

The 34 minutes were a season high for Allen, who has faced some restrictions since returning from a groin injury six games ago. It appears the Grizzlies are comfortable leaning heavily on Allen now though, as the ample playing time he received Saturday came on the second half of a back-to-back set. With the Grizzlies down two of their better wings in Chandler Parsons (knee) and James Ennis (calf) for at least one more week, Allen shouldn't have much difficulty clearing 30 minutes more regularly over the next handful of games. It could be enough to give him value in very deep leagues thanks to his efforts in the rebounds and steals categories, but high-end production shouldn't be expected.

Grizzlies' Tony Allen: No longer listed on injury report

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(11/23/16) Allen (groin) is no longer listed on the Grizzlies' injury report.

Allen was considered probable heading into Wednesday, so his availability against the Sixers was fully expected. Look for him to take on his usual role as the team's starting shooting guard and could find himself logging additional minutes with the likes of Chandler Parsons (knee) and James Ennis (calf) sidelined. That said, Allen is usually relied upon more for his defensive capabilities, which often lowers his fantasy potential on most nights.
