Andrew Bogut: Waived by Cleveland

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(3/13/17) Bogut (lower leg) was waived by the Cavaliers on Monday, Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com reports.

Bogut has already been ruled out for the rest of the season after fracturing his left tibia in his team debut last week, and the Cavaliers had little reason to keep him around since he was set to become an unrestricted free agent in the offseason. In order to fill Bogut's spot on the roster, the Cavaliers will sign Larry Sanders for the rest of the season, with the hope that Sanders can offer some rim protection on the second unit. Bogut will head back to his native Australia to kick off the rehab process from the broken leg, but is expected to be back to full strength before training camps open next season.

Cavaliers' Andrew Bogut: Expected to be waived

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(3/9/17) Bogut (lower leg) is expected to be waived by the Cavaliers to open up a roster spot, Dave McMenamin of ESPN reports.

With Bogut done for the year, the Cavaliers will look to use the open roster spot to sign another player after their upcoming three-game road trip, while Bogut is expected to spend his time rehabbing in Australia with his family. The big man is expected to make a full recovery by training camp of next season, so it's likely, as a restricted free agent, he'll be on the lookout for a new destination for his 2017-18 campaign.

Cavaliers' Andrew Bogut: Out for rest of season

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(3/8/17) Bogut (lower leg) has been ruled out for the rest of the regular season and playoffs.

As expected, the fractured left tibia that Bogut suffered during his Cavaliers debut Monday against the Heat will end his season. According to the Cavs' press release, Bogut won't require surgery to repair the tibia, but will require an extended period of immobilization and rehab before returning to the health when training camps open in the fall. Bogut, who will be an unrestricted free agent this summer, will finish an injury-plagued season with averages of 2.9 points, 8.1 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 0.9 blocks, and 0.5 steals across 21.6 minutes per game in 27 appearances with the Mavericks and Cavaliers. Durability has been a career-long issue for Bogut, who hasn't appeared in more than 70 games in a season since 2011-12, and given that he'll turn 33 in November, he may struggle to land more than a one- or two-year deal in the offseason. With Bogut out of the picture, starting center Tristan Thompson will likely be locked into a regular 30-plus-minute role the rest of the season, with Channing Frye serving as his top backup until Kevin Love (knee) returns to action.

Cavaliers' Andrew Bogut: Out for remainder of season

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(3/8/17) Bogut (lower leg) will not be available for the remainder of the regular season and playoffs.

As was expected, the fractured tibia that Bogut suffered during his Cavaliers debut will end his season. He'll finish the year averaging 2.9 points, 8.1 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 0.9 blocks, and 0.5 steals across 21.6 minutes per game. The 32-year-old center has been hit by injuries throughout his career, and hasn't played over 27 minutes per game or 70 games in a season since 2011-12, which marked his first year with the Warriors. With Bogut out of the picture, the Cavaliers will likely be forced to play Tristan Thompson the usual 30-plus minute workload that he's shouldered throughout the season as their starter, with Channing Frye able to provide relief off the bench.

Cavaliers' Andrew Bogut: Diagnosed with fractured left tibia

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(3/7/17) Initial X-rays on Bogut's left leg revealed that he sustained a fractured tibia in Monday's game against the Heat, Joe Gabriele of Cavs.com reports.

After signing with the Cavaliers on March 1, Bogut was finally cleared to make his team debut Monday, but lasted only 58 seconds before suffering what could very well be a season-ending injury. Bogut will undergo additional evaluation over the next few days, but at the very least, it appears safe to consider the big man out indefinitely. Since no post-March 1 signings will be eligible for the postseason, the Cavaliers won't have much recourse to add depth at center beyond the final month of the regular season. Look for Tristan Thompson to regularly clear 30 minutes now that Bogut is sidelined, with Channing Frye representing the most likely candidate on the roster to handle center duties when Thompson is on the bench.
