Andrew Bogut: Finalizes buyout with Sixers

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/27/17) Bogut has agreed to a buyout with the Sixers and will become a free agent, Marc Stein of ESPN.com reports.

Bogut was traded from the Mavericks to the 76ers just prior to the trade deadline Thursday, but he was never expected to remain in Philadelphia and Monday's buyout was merely a formality. While there's a chance he ends up elsewhere, Bogut is currently expected to sign with the Cavaliers, which could be finalized at some point later this week. If he ends up with the Cavaliers as expected, he'd likely come off the bench behind Tristan Thompson at center and would provide a much-needed upgrade to their second unit.

76ers' Andrew Bogut: Likely to join Cavaliers once buyout is secured

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/26/17) Bogut (personal) is expected to join the Cavaliers once he secures a buyout from the 76ers, Sam Amico of FOX Sports Ohio reports.

Bogut was traded to the 76ers on Thursday as part of the deal that sent Nerlens Noel to the Mavericks, but it's not expected that he'll ever see the floor in a Philadelphia uniform. He has yet to report to the team since the trade after 76ers coach Brett Brown said Friday that the big man would be away for at least a week to tend to a personal matter, but that won't preclude the team from getting started in negotiating a buyout. Assuming Bogut goes unclaimed off waivers once the buyout is official, he'll likely draw interest from a number of clubs, but the Cavaliers are believed to be the top playoff-contending team interested in bringing him aboard. Bogut would slot in as the backup to starting center Tristan Thompson, bringing some desperately needed rim-protecting skills to a Cavs roster.

76ers' Andrew Bogut: Will miss a week for personal reasons

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/24/17) Bogut will be away from the 76ers for at least a week while tending to personal issues, Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

The 76ers acquired Bogut along with Justin Anderson and a protected 2017 first-round draft pick from the Mavericks in exchange for Nerlens Noel prior to Thursday's trade deadline, but Anderson and the draft pick are considered the real assets for Philadelphia. As a 32-year-old center on an expiring contract, Bogut doesn't have much value to a rebuilding 76ers squad, so it's expected that he'll be waived without ever suiting up for the team. If Bogut is indeed let go, a number of contending clubs would likely have interest in him as a backup center who can protect the rim.

76ers' Andrew Bogut: Sent to Philadelphia

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/23/17) Bogut, Justin Anderson and a first-round pick will be sent from Dallas to Philadelphia in exchange for Nerlens Noel, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.com reports.

The oft-injured Bogut has once again missed a bunch of time with the Mavericks this season, most recently sitting out six of the last seven games prior to the All-Star break because of a hamstring injury. For that reason, the Mavericks were looking to ship him out of Dallas and finally found a deal where they could throw in Bogut, and his expiring $11 million contract. Bogut is fully expected to be bought out by the Sixers, as they have no reason to keep him around with both Joel Embiid and Jahlil Okafor in the fold. Bogut should have a new home at some point later this week, so stay tuned for another update.

Mavericks' Andrew Bogut: Plays 18 minutes in return to action

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/16/17) Bogut (calf) registered four points (2-4 FG), eight rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block across 18 minutes in a 98-91 loss to the Pistons on Wednesday.

It was initially expected that the Mavericks would hold Bogut out through the All-Star break while he tended to a right hamstring strain that had sidelined him for eight games, but after the veteran center increased his activity earlier this week, coach Rick Carlisle was willing to use him off the bench Wednesday. Bogut's return resulted in Salah Mejri (five minutes) and Dwight Powell (one minute) effectively getting pushed out of the rotation, but don't expect the 32-year-old to pick up much more playing time after the break. He's averaging career-low 3.0 points in 22.4 minutes per game on the season and is shooting an unsightly 27.3 percent from the free-throw line.
