Hornets' Marvin Williams: Agrees to four-year deal with Hornets

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(7/2/16) Williams agreed to a four-year, $54.5 million deal with the Hornets on Saturday, Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical reports.

Williams will return to Charlotte after playing there the past two season, starting in every game he played last year. He averaged a career high 6.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game last season, along with scoring 11.7 points per contest on 45 percent shooting. Look for Williams to return to his role as a starter on the team in what will be his 12th NBA season.

Hornets' Marvin Williams: Scores five points in series-ending loss

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(5/2/16) Williams was limited to five points (1-3 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT) and five rebounds in 33 minutes during Sunday's 106-73 Game 7 loss to the Heat.

The five-point effort concludes a disappointing series for Williams, who averaged just 5.1 points (on 27.5% shooting), 6.7 rebounds, 0.9 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.9 three-pointers across 32.6 minutes in the seven games. According to Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer, coach Steve Clifford attributed Williams' shooting woes to a right elbow injury, but the ailment wasn't severe enough to affect the veteran's minutes. He'll likely only need a week or two to fully recover from the injury, so it shouldn't affect his status as he enters free agency this offseason.

Hornets' Marvin Williams: Drops 17 points in Wednesday's huge Game 5 win

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/27/16) Williams recorded 17 points (7-10 FG, 3-4 3Pt,), eight rebounds, two assists, and three steals over 32 minutes in Wednesday's Game 5 win against the Heat.

Williams had his strongest performance of the postseason, leading the team to a much-needed win on a tidy 70 percent shooting The veteran forward finished the regular season strong, averaging 14.7 points on 52.2 percent shooting over the final seven games, but has failed to match that production in the playoffs. If the Hornets want to keep their playoff run alive, they'll need to be firing on all cylinders offensively.

Hornets' Marvin Williams: Held scoreless in 37 minutes in Game 4

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/26/16) Williams was held without a point (0-5 FG, 0-2 3Pt) and added seven rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block over 37 minutes in Monday's 89-85 Game 4 win over the Heat.

Williams saw his highest allotment of playing time in the series, but for the third time in four games, he struggled mightily from the floor. Aside from a 12-point, 14-rebound performance in Game 3, Williams has been a major liability in the series, combining for a measly two points on 1-for-22 shooting in the other three contests.

Hornets' Marvin Williams: Double-double in Game 3 win Saturday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/23/16) Williams scored 12 points (5-9 FG, 2-3 3Pt) while adding a team-high 14 rebounds and a block in 36 minutes during a Game 3 win over the Heat on Saturday.

After an awful Game 2 in which he went 0-for-10 from the floor, Williams bounced back with a big effort to help the Hornets snap a 12-game postseason losing streak. He'll look to build on his performance Monday, when Charlotte tries to even the series at 2-2 on home court.
