by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com (8/9/14) With Chris Johnson getting rest and Chris Ivory out with a rib injury, Jets reserve running back Alex Green got a lot of reps with the first-team offense at practice Saturday, ESPN.com reports.
Green led the team with 29 yards on seven carries in the preseason opener against the Colts Thursday as he battles for a backup job.
Alex Green leaves with chest injury
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com (7/29/14) Jets running back Alex Green left Tuesday's practice with a chest injury, reports the New York Post.
The report says two of them likely won't make the team, but figuring out the carries could be tough. Johnson averaged 18 rushes per game in his six seasons with the Titans. Ivory averaged 12 per game last season as the Jets' leading rusher. Powell averaged 11 last season. That's a total of 41 rushes for their top three backs.
"Everybody’s goal is to put wins on the board," said Johnson. "We’re not really worried about the carries, who's going to play this down and that down. We’ve all just got one focus and that’s winning."
Alex Green still part of the Jets
by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer (5/23/14) After tweeting that it was time to "move on" last week, running back Alex Green was believed to have been cut from the Jets. As it turns out, he was referring to something else as he was a participant in a recent Jets practice.
"When I tweeted that out, I didn't know that we had signed anybody already," Green said Thursday according to the Newark Star-Ledger. "I was talking about more of a personal matter. I kind of had to put my foot in my mouth about tweeting personal things, which I shouldn't do."
Green went on to admit that it will be hard for him to make the Jets roster this summer, particularly after the team signed Chris Johnson and picked up Daryl Richardson off waivers.
Alex Green says he's been cut
by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer (5/17/14) Running back Alex Green wrote on Twitter that he's been released by the Jets. The team didn't officially announce the move.
Alex Green is hoping to make the final roster for the Jets as a reserve running back. Even if he makes the team he would have minimal Fantasy value. Ignore him in all leagues on Draft Day.
