Panthers sign veteran CB Charles Tillman

by Jason Butt |
(4/9/15) The Panthers announced on Thursday that they have signed Charles Tillman to a one-year contract.

Tillman spent his previous 12 NFL seasons with the Bears. He was selected by Chicago in the second round of the 2003 draft. Throughout his career, Tillman has totaled 856 tackles and 36 interceptions.

Tillman tore his triceps during the 2014 season and ended his season on injured reserve. Earlier this offseason, Tillman, 34, said he's hopeful his NFL career will be able to continue.

Fox gives no indication if Bears will re-sign Briggs, Tillman

by Michael Hurcomb |
(2/18/15) Bears coach John Fox said Wednesday linebacker Lance Briggs and cornerback Charles Tillman have "been great" for the franchise, per ESPN. However, Fox gave no indication if either player will be re-signed.

Briggs has spent his entire 12-year NFL career with the Bears. He has been to seven Pro Bowls and made the All-Pro team in 2005.

Tillman has also spent his entire 12-year career with Chicago. He has made two Pro Bowls and made the All-Pro team in 2012.

Bears' Charles Tillman wants to keep playing

by Chris Cwik |
(2/16/15) Bears cornerback Charles Tillman has no plans to retire any time soon, according to the USA Today.

"I love the game. I'm not going to stop 'til I'm dead," Tillman said. "I just want to keep going. I'm feeling good. I just have unfinished business. I want a championship. I think that's my main reason (to keep playing): I'm hungry for a championship."

The soon-to-be 34-year-old has been injured in each of the past two seasons, leading to speculation that he might hang up his cleats. Tillman, however, took a positive view of his recent injuries. "The positive is I haven't had that much wear tear on my body in those two years. I've had time to heal up really good," he said.

Tillman is expected to be 100 percent healthy by the time free agency opens in March. He estimated himself at about 80 percent right now. Tillman has had brief interactions with the Bears new brain trust, but said he's open to signing with any team.

Charles Tillman: Calvin Johnson still the best receiver in NFL

by Jason Butt |
(2/2/15) Though Calvin Johnson will turn 30 this September, one opposing cornerback still believes the Lions playmaker is still the best receiver in the game.

Bears cornerback Charles Tillman told that Johnson, who finished outside of the top 10 in yards with 1,077, that he still is the top at his position.

"Arguably, the best receiver in the game today, in my opinion," Tillman said. "I go against him twice (a season), we match up well. And, yeah, you have to bring your big boy pants when you're going against Calvin Johnson."

Tillman also criticized those that think Johnson has fallen off as the league's best wideout.

"They're a bunch of dummies," he said. "Trust me."
