Jennings joins NFC North rival

News: Veteran wide receiver Greg Jennings spent the last seven years torching the Vikings twice a season as a member of the Packers, so Minnesota decided to make sure he won't be an opponent again. Jennings agreed to a five-year, $47.5 million deal with the Vikings on Friday, swiping him from their NFC North rival. Jennings finishes his Green Bay career with 425 catches for 6,537 yards and 53 touchdowns.
Analysis: It is hard to say what, exactly, this means for Jennings' Fantasy value, as he goes from just one receiver in a deep corps in Green Bay to the clear No. 1 option in Minnesota. Unfortunately, his quarterback situation is not nearly as good in Minnesota as it was in Green Bay, so this might end up being a lateral move. Jennings missed nine games last season with a groin injury, finishing with 36 catches for 366 yards and four touchdowns. Jennings is nearly 30, but he snagged two touchdowns in two postseason games, so he should still have something left. His injury concerns are real, but Fantasy owners should consider him a solid starting receiver, worth targeting in the middle rounds on Draft Day.

Jennings huddles with Vikings

News: ESPN reports free agent receiver Greg Jennings is taking a visit with the Vikings on Thursday. Speculation is if the two sides can't agree to a deal that he'll go back to the Packers.
Analysis: Jennings would have a clear path to the No. 1 receiver's role in Minnesota while he'd be one of four threats in Green Bay. There could be a better opportunity statistically for him in Minnesota but he'll probably have a better chance to win with the Packers. Jennings, who missed nine games with a groin injury in 2012, caught 36 passes for 366 yards and four touchdowns in five regular-season games but came up with 10 grabs for 115 yards and a score over two postseason games. His late-year surge should provide enough proof that he has something left in the tank. Jennings will be 30 soon after this season starts and has had some injury concerns, so that may be why his market hasn't been huge. Fantasy owners should hope for Jennings to play outside of Wisconsin.

Jennings to return to Green Bay?!

News: After it looked like Greg Jennings was done with the Packers, CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora reports he might come back. "I don't get the sense that the market for Greg Jennings is shaping up as some assumed it would, and I continue to believe that it's possible he stays in Green Bay (and then the Packers ultimately part with tight end Jermichael Finley)," La Canfora writes.
Analysis: It's bad news for the likes of James Jones, Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb if Jennings goes back to Green Bay. It's also bad news for Jennings, who could land elsewhere without having to share targets with so many talented receivers. Jennings, who missed nine games with a groin injury in 2012, caught 36 passes for 366 yards and four touchdowns in five regular-season games but came up with 10 grabs for 115 yards and a score over two postseason games. No tag coming for Jennings

News: FOX Sports reports the Packers are not going to place the franchise tag on receiver Greg Jennings, making him eligible for free agency. Jennings is expected to leave Green Bay.
Analysis: Jennings, who missed nine games with a groin injury in 2012, caught 36 passes for 366 yards and four touchdowns in five regular-season games but came up with 10 grabs for 115 yards and a score over two postseason games. His late-year surge should provide enough proof that he has something left in the tank. Jennings will be 30 soon after this season starts. The Vikings might be where he winds up. For now, he should be worth drafting as a decent No. 2 Fantasy receiver with a attractive mid-round selection.

Philbin not a fan of Jennings?

News: The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Bob McGinn, a veteran Packers beat writer, posted on Twitter Monday that he's been told Dolphins head coach and ex-Packers offensive coordinator Joe Philbin "isn't a huge fan of Greg Jennings as a player." Jennings, who reportedly could receive the franchise tag from the Packers, was believed to be a prime candidate to head to Miami.
Analysis: Jennings, who missed nine games with a groin injury in 2012, caught 36 passes for 366 yards and four touchdowns in five regular-season games but came up with 10 grabs for 115 yards and a score over two postseason games. We'll continue to keep an eye where Jennings will land. For now, he should be worth drafting as a decent No. 2 Fantasy receiver with a mid-round selection.

Packers to franchise Jennings?

News: Contrary to reports earlier this week from the Green Bay Press-Gazette, NFL.com reports that the Packers are still considering using the franchise tag on free agent wide receiver Greg Jennings.
Analysis: Outside of Mike Wallace, Jennings may be one of the most coveted free agent receivers in the market. It originally appeared as if the Packers would let the 29-year-old walk , but now Green Bay may use the franchise tag to keep him around with Aaron Rodgers for another season. Jennings, who missed nine games with a groin injury, caught 36 passes for 366 yards and four touchdowns in five regular-season games but came up with 10 grabs for 115 yards and a score over two postseason games. Packers moving on from Jennings

News: The Green Bay Press-Gazette reports that the Packers have no plans to bring back receiver Greg Jennings, who is a free agent. The report says "indications are the Packers will spend their money in other places" instead of signing Jennings, who has hinted a preference to sign with the Dolphins but is open to playing anywhere.
Analysis: Jennings will likely be coveted on the opening market, and a logical destination is Miami because of his relationship with coach Joe Philbin, the former offensive coordinator in Green Bay. Keep an eye on where Jennings ends up, and he should be worth drafting as a No. 2 Fantasy receiver with a mid-round pick.

Jennings open to MIA, MIN

News: The NFL Network reports that receiver Greg Jennings knows that his time in Green Bay is very likely coming to an end. He's ready for anything to happen in free agency. That includes a reunion with Joe Philbin in Miami. "I wouldn't mind that at all," Jennings said. "The weather's definitely nice. They have an up and coming quarterback." Jennings isn't going to rule out any options. He was asked if joining the rival Vikings would be distasteful. "It's one of those situations ... it's a business," Jennings said. And later: "All other 31 teams are an option." Jennings stressed he wasn't ruling out a return to Green Bay; he's just honest about his future. He knows that he's likely to get a better deal from a team like the Vikings or Dolphins that badly need a top-tier wideout.
Analysis: Despite an injury-plagued 2012, we expect Jennings to get a big money deal. NFL.com reports the Rams and Colts as possible fits. Keep an eye on where Jennings ends up, and he should be worth drafting as a No. 2 Fantasy receiver with a mid-round pick.

La Canfora: Miami to go after Jennings

News: CBSSports.com NFL Insider Jason La Canfora believes the Dolphins are prepared to spend money this offseason as they're over $30 million under the cap, and league sources expect them to pursue Greg Jennings heavily. Jennings worked with Dolphins coach Joe Philbin in Green Bay for several years and would work seamlessly with the Miami offense.
Analysis: Jennings has already put his house up for sale in Green Bay and is expected to be on the move after the Packers gave contract extensions to Jordy Nelson and James Jones in recent offseasons. Jennings, 29, missed nine games with a groin injury and finished with a career-low 36 catches this season. The two-time Pro Bowler amassed more than 1,100 receiving yards in three straight seasons from 2008-10, and had a monster postseason in Green Bay's run to the Super Bowl XLV title. If he lands in Miami he'd be worth picking up as a low-end No. 2 Fantasy receiver worth a pick starting in Round 6 or 7.

Jennings not expected back in GB

News: It looks like receiver Greg Jennings won't be returning to Green Bay. He has put his house near Lambeau Field up for sale, according to FOX Sports. It's just another sign the impending unrestricted free agent is leaving town after seven seasons with Green Bay. The Packers appear set at wide receiver with Jordy Nelson, James Jones and Randall Cobb, making Jennings expendable. Donald Driver is leaning toward retirement. Jennings done in Green Bay?

News: Facing a financial windfall this offseason, receiver Greg Jennings hinted on Monday he was not coming back to the Packers in 2013. The free-agent-to-be said he had "to do what's best for myself and my family" while cleaning out his locker after the Packers lost to the 49ers in the divisional playoffs. Jennings had six catches for 54 yards and a touchdown in the 45-31 defeat. When asked what the most difficult part would be about leaving Green Bay, Jennings didn't sound disappointed. "I don't know if there's a difficult part," he said according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "Like I said, I'm excited for the future. Football is going to be football. I'm excited for that."
Analysis: The Packers have Randall Cobb, James Jones and Jordy Nelson under contract for at least the next season, so they're probably not going to shell out big bucks for Jennings. The receiver caught 36 passes for 366 yards and four touchdowns in five regular-season games but came up with 10 grabs for 115 yards and a score over two postseason games. He has something left to give but because of a number of injuries he's had over the last two years he might not be considered an elite receiver any longer. Miami and Kansas City figure to be two ideal landing spots for Jennings this summer.

Jennings finds end zone in finale

News: Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings couldn't get going early on but still managed to find the end zone during Saturday's NFC Divisional Playoff game at San Francisco. He was held to just one grab for a 7-yard gain in the first half, but managed to turn things around in the final two quarters of the game. With the game already out of hand, Aaron Rodgers found Jennings for a short 3-yard touchdown strike late in the fourth quarter. He was targeted eight times and finished with six catches for 54 yards and a touchdown in a 45-31 defeat.
Analysis: Jennings had an opportunity to stretch the field and make a big play in the second half but was unable to come down with the grab. He was able to finish on a high note, finding the end zone four times in his last four games, including the playoffs. Jennings may have caught his final touchdown pass from Rodgers as he is set to become a free agent next season. He was banged up with a groin and abdominal injury that kept him out for most of the season. Jennings was targeted 62 times and caught 32 passes for 366 yards and four touchdowns in just eight games played in 2012. The 29-year-old should be viewed as a mid-round selection worthy of drafting as early as the fifth round in 2013.

Jennings prepped for Niners

News: Greg Jennings isn't on an injury report or limited in his practice reps as the Packers prepare for their Divisional Playoff game at San Francisco. Jennings will take on a pass defense that's been stingy against opposing receivers (nine TDs allowed all year including just three in the Niners' last five) but heavily-targeted wideouts have done well. Jennings has 34 targets (23 catches for 276 yards and three touchdowns) in his last four games.
Analysis: Jennings should be considered a suitable Fantasy start for the Packers heading into their matchup against the Niners. If you're in a Playoff Fantasy game, consider Jennings worth using this week so long as you don't take him over one of the quality receivers playing at home over in the AFC since those wideouts are expected to win this weekend and play in the AFC title game next week. Jennings doesn't have that type of certainty.

Jennings comes through again

News: After posting his first multi-touchdown performance of the season in Week 17 at Minnesota, Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings led the way again during Saturday's NFC Wild Card game at home against the Vikings. He was held without a grab in the first quarter but came up with three catches before halftime. Jennings was targeted six times and finished with four catches for 61 yards and was held out of the end zone in a 24-10 victory.
Analysis: Jennings has been held to just four catches in each of his last three postseason games, and was not needed much in the second half once the game got out of hand. Jennings seems to be back at full strength and has re-emerged as one of Aaron Rodgers' primary option in the passing game. He'll face a stingy San Francisco defense that has allowed nine touchdowns all season long to opposing wide receivers, including three in the last two games of the regular season. Opposing wide receivers have scored 17.3 Fantasy points per game against the 49ers this season, so consider the 29-year-old as a decent option in all Playoff Challenge leagues.

Jennings preparing for Viking invasion

News: It's Round 3 between the Vikings and Packers this Saturday in the Wild Card round of the postseason. As part of the matchup, receiver Greg Jennings will take on a Vikings defense he scored on twice just last week. Jennings had his best game of the 2012 season, much of which he missed, when he had two touchdowns and 120 yards on eight catches. Jennings has at least one TD in six of his last seven against the Vikings.
Analysis: Jennings is healthy and very involved in the Packers' game plan. That should continue through the postseason, potentially a number of games for Green Bay. We like the idea of using Jennings in Fantasy playoff leagues.

Greg Jennings

Jennings saves his best for last

News: Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings posted his first multi-touchdown performance of the season in Week 17 against the Vikings. He hauled in a 2-yard scoring strike in the second quarter before quarterback Aaron Rodgers found him in the end zone again after halftime, this time from 5 yards out. Jennings finished with eight catches for 120 yards -- both season highs -- and the two scores in the 37-34 loss. He was targeted a team-high 12 times while leading Green Bay in receiving.
Analysis: Jennings went over 100 yards receiving for the first time this year in the regular season finale and finished the campaign with four touchdown grabs. Injuries slowed his season, however, and could have played his last game in a Packer uniform as he heads into free agency. With the emergence of Randall Cobb in Green Bay, there is a good possibility the 29-year-old plays elsewhere in 2013 so keep an eye on the situation in the offseason. In the meantime, Jennings will face the Vikings again in the first round of the playoffs and remains a solid option in the majority of Fantasy formats.

Jennings picking things up

News: Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings has posted 95 yards receiving with a touchdown over the previous two games and will look to keep things going in Week 17 against the Vikings. Minnesota ranks 20th in the league in pass defense, giving up over 238 yards per contest, and has allowed an average of 21.7 Fantasy points to opposing wideouts. Jennings caught four passes for 46 yards when the division foes met in Week 13.
Analysis: Jennings struggled after returning from his groin injury but has picked things up of late and will look to finish the regular season strong on Sunday. He hauled in his first touchdown since Week 4 his last time out and will be facing a Vikings defense that has surrendered 14 scores to wideouts on the year. With the Packers still vying for a first-round bye in the playoffs, their offense should be in high gear in Week 17 so keep Jennings active in the majority of Fantasy formats.

Jennings finally scores a TD

News: Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings, who had gone three games without scoring a touchdown since returning from a groin injury in Week 13, put an end to that streak Week 16 against the Titans when he caught a 1-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Aaron Rodgers in the third quarter. Jennings' nine targets and seven receptions were also the most he's had in four games since returning. He accumulated only 45 yards through the air, though.
Analysis: The Packers used Jennings a little more in this one, but they used him more as an underneath route runner than the deep threat he used to be. If this is the best he can do with Jordy Nelson missing the entire game because of a hamstring injury and Cobb missing the final quarter and a half because of an ankle injury, then you don't have much incentive to use him in Fantasy right now. If Nelson and Cobb are both out for Week 17 at Minnesota, then you'll probably want Jennings active, but with James Jones also ahead of him in the pecking order, the chances of him getting shut down are too high otherwise.

Jennings ready to step it up?

News: Though Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings has yet to catch a touchdown pass or contribute more than 50 yards in a game since returning from a groin injury in Week 13, he was targeted just as many times last week at Chicago (seven) as James Jones, who scored three touchdowns in the contest. In fact, Jennings' 19 targets over the last three weeks are the second-most on the Packers during that stretch, behind only Randall Cobb's 21. Though Jennings' Week 16 opponent, the Titans, has played well on defense lately, ranking fourth in scoring defense (17.6 points per game) and third in total defense (285.8 yards per game) since Week 9, they rank only 19th against the pass for the season, allowing 240.6 yards per game.
Analysis: Even though he has a healthy number of targets over the last three weeks, you'd be taking a leap of faith by starting Jennings in Fantasy this week. He still has to contend with both Cobb and Jones for looks, and so far since returning, that hasn't worked out for him. He does have experiencing playing in frigid conditions like the ones expected in Green Bay for Sunday's game, so maybe he'll rise to the occasion. Still, he's no more than a borderline flex option in Fantasy this week.

Jennings to make 'presence felt'

News: Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings has played in three straight games after missing seven straight due to an abdominal injury. Since returning, however, Jennings has managed nine catches for 123 yards and no touchdowns. “My role hasn’t changed. It’s just, you know, guys have been playing well and it’s a matter of getting your opportunities," Jennings told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "Like you said, I’m coming in a little late to the party. So at some point here, I’ll make my presence felt. I feel great physically. No pain at all physically. I’m able to do what I was before prior to the injury so I feel great. There’s been no setback other than the eight weeks that I missed.”
Analysis: Jennings has been one of the biggest busts of the 2012 season. Injuries have played a huge reason for that, but Jennings is healthy again and still not living up to his potential. It's not like quarterback Aaron Rodgers has forgotten about Jennings. He has been targeted 19 times since his return. It's just that his big-play ability is lacking. It's just tough right now for Fantasy owners to put a lot of trust into Jennings heading into Week 16 vs. Tennessee.

Jennings shows more progress

News: Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings notched four catches for a season-high 50 yards during Green Bay's 21-13 victory over Chicago in Week 15. Jennings, in his third outing since returning from a troublesome injury that sidelined him eight games earlier this season, collected seven targets from quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The total tied James Jones, who had three touchdown receptions, for second-most on the team.
Analysis: Slowly but surely, Jennings is becoming more involved in the Packers' passing game again following his long layoff. He bounced back from a one-catch performance in his previous outing against Detroit and averaged a sturdy 12.5 yards per reception Sunday. He has also racked up at least seven targets in two of the three games since his return, but is still seeking his first trip to the end zone. Fantasy owners should also begin to start trusting Jennings again as he makes for a quality option in most formats for Week 16 against Tennessee.

Jennings easing back into action

News: Despite Jordy Nelson being sidelined with a hamstring injury last Sunday, Green Bay wide receiver Greg Jennings was unable to make a major impact and was held to just one catch for 27 yards. It was the latest subpar performance for Jennings as he continues to move back into game shape after missing more than two months with a lingering groin/abdominal injury. In two games since his return, he has totaled five catches for 73 yards and no touchdowns. He will look to break out during Week 15 at Chicago, which is limiting opponents to just 205.5 passing yards per game -- the sixth-fewest total in the NFL.
Analysis: The Packers will again be without Nelson on Sunday, which could free up Jennings for additional targets against an opponent he has had some success against recently. In his past two outings versus the Bears, including the 2010 NFC Championship, Jennings has posted 17 catches for 249 yards. Jennings still has to compete for touchdowns with a host of other receivers, but is still considered a quality option in most formats for Week 15 based on his track record. Chicago is yielding an average of 17.6 Fantasy points per game to opposing wideouts this year.

Jennings can't get going on SNF

News: With Jordy Nelson out with a hamstring injury, Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings failed to make much of an impact as he was held in check during Sunday's contest against the Lions in Week 14. Jennings was targeted four times but caught just one pass -- a long 27-yard reception in the second quarter. He was targeted three times in the second half of a 27-20 victory. Jennings was tied as the second-leading receiver on the team behind Randall Cobb who netted 102 yards receiving.
Analysis: Jennings endured another tough game, partly because of Aaron Rodgers, who endured one of his worst performances of the season against the Lions on Sunday. He has caught just five passes on 12 targets for 73 yards in his first two games back after missing seven straight game with a groin/abdominal injury. He'll try to get it going against a stingy Chicago defense in Week 15. The Bears have allowed just 91 passing yards against the Vikings in Week 13. Jennings was unable to play against the Bears in Week 2 due to his groin injury. He should be viewed as a viable option in deeper Fantasy formats heading into Week 14.

Jennings ready to take the load

News: Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings will be looking to get back in the end zone heading into Week 14 at home against the Lions. Jennings made his return in Week 13 after missing seven games because of a groin/abdominal injury and hauled in four catches for 46 yards against the Vikings. He'll be looking to score against a Detroit defense that has allowed 12 touchdowns on the year, including seven in the last five games.
Analysis: Jennings has fared well against the Lions in the past and has racked up an average of 70.2 yards per game with a total of five touchdown catches in his last 10 meetings. Because of the injury, he has not checked into the end zone since Week 4 against the Saints. it seems as if the Packers are confident that he is back to full strength, which should help the team since they may be without the services of Jordy Nelson come Sunday. Opposing wide receivers have scored an average of 22.7 Fantasy points per game against the Lions this season. Fantasy owners should view him as a viable option in most formats heading into Week 14.
