Flames' Kris Versteeg: Producing steadily this year

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/14/17) Versteeg has 23 points in 45 games this season, his first in Calgary.

The veteran's producing at a smidge better than a point-every-other-game pace, which has him on track to crack the 40-point plateau for the first time since 2011-12 with Florida. Much of Versteeg's steady production can be attributed to his 2:33 of average power-play time, which is the most since his Panther days, as well.

Flames' Kris Versteeg: Two goals in last three games

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(1/22/17) Versteeg has found twine twice in the last three games, giving him nine goals on the season.

With 21 points in 37 contests, the journeyman is well on his way to topping last year's 38-point output with Carolina and Los Angeles. Eight of Versteeg's points have come with the man advantage, as well, and his average of 2:25 of power-play time is his most since 2012 with the Panthers, so he's delivering decent value in deeper leagues in his first season with Calgary.

Flames' Kris Versteeg: Helps pad lead in win over Avs

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(12/28/16) Versteeg notched a power-play goal and an assist in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Avalanche.

Both points came in the third period with the Flames nursing healthy leads, but they're appreciated by fantasy owners just the same. Versteeg has quietly been hot for about a month, as he's operating at a point-per-game pace over his last 11 contests, with six of those points having come on the man advantage.

Flames' Kris Versteeg: Tees off on power play in third period

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(12/20/16) Versteeg scored a goal and assist on the power play in the third period of Monday's win over Arizona.

The 30-year-old veteran has shown fantasy upside with Calgary, but his game-to-game consistency likely doesn't move the needle outside of deep seasonal leagues. Versteeg has posted five goals and 14 points through 22 games for the year, but his lack of peripheral contributions also limit his fantasy upside, as he has just 30 shots, 10 blocked shots, six PIM and two hits.

Flames' Kris Versteeg: Back in fold

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(12/14/16) Versteeg (upper body) will return Wednesday night versus the Lightning, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The FAN reports.

Versteeg reportedly will slot in on the third line opposite Troy Brouwer, a chippy two-way player, and he'll see the red-hot Sean Monahan -- nine points in the last seven games -- down the middle. It's possible that Versteeg comes at a discount in daily fantasy formats given that he's missed the past two games and is unequivocally past his prime as a guy who had trouble finding work in the offseason. However, consider rolling with Versteeg as he has a juicy line assignment and plays on a team gunning for its seventh straight win.
