Ducks' Ryan Miller: Procures two-year deal with Anaheim

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(7/1/17) Miller signed a two-year, $4 million contract with the Ducks on Saturday, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.

One of the best American goalies in league history, Miller latches on with NHL club No. 4, having had prior stops in Buffalo, St. Louis and Vancouver, respectively. The heady veteran -- who will turn 37 years old later this month -- claimed the Vezina Trophy as a member of the Sabres in 2010, and he sits 19th all-time with 358 career wins. He struggled with his peripheral stats while donning the Canucks jersey -- posting a 2.67 GAA, .913 save percentage over three seasons -- which may have drawn the ire of his fantasy owners more often than not, but it's clear that Miller's downtick in production has been appropriately reflected in this new deal. He'll presumably serve as the backup to John Gibson, who has two years remaining on his contract.

Canucks' Ryan Miller: Unprotected by Canucks

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(6/18/17) Miller was left unprotected by the Canucks in the upcoming expansion draft, TSN reports.

The veteran netminder was reportedly wanted by the Canucks front office, but it appears it is willing to move on, as the team decided to leave him exposed. There may be better options on the table for Vegas, and we'll soon see how this plays out.

Canucks' Ryan Miller: Still wanted by Canucks brass

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(5/27/17) Canucks GM Jim Benning is confident that he can re-sign Miller, who is a pending unrestricted free agent, the Vancouver Sun reports.

While Benning understands that young players will naturally be involved in the franchise's rebuilding process, he's also made it clear that he wishes to retain veteran defenders like Alex Edler and Chris Tanev -- in addition to Miller, the 2010 Vezina Trophy winner and a guy who currently sits 19th in the history of the NHL with 358 goalie wins between the Sabres, Blues and Canucks. However, Miller might have to agree to a pay cut after turning in a weak record of 18-29-6 and similarly disappointing peripheral stats (2.80 GAA, .914 save percentage) this past season. The Michigan native is cashing out the balance of an $18 million deal signed with the Canucks ahead of the 2014-15 campaign.

Canucks' Ryan Miller: Yields three scores in loss

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/9/17) Miller allowed three goals on 35 shots in a 3-2 loss to the Oilers on Saturday.

Unless Miller also starts the second game of a back-to-back situation on Sunday, he will finish the 2016-17 season having lost nine of his last 10 games, including six in a row. Miller posted a .907 save percentage during that stretch. He also ends the season with a 2.80 GAA, .914 save percentage and 29 losses, which is just one shy of a league high. Clearly, Miller's days as an elite fantasy goaltender are done.

Canucks' Ryan Miller: Starting first of back-to-back games against Oilers

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/8/17) Miller will be in the crease Saturday against Edmonton, Ben Kuzma of The Province reports.

This is likely Miller's last start of the season, as the Canucks have consistently alternated goalies in back-to-back matchups. The past month has been tough for the 36-year-old, who has posted a 1-9-2 record with a .908 save percentage in the past 12 games. Saturday's matchup is a good chance to play spoiler for an Edmonton team that is still trying for a Pacific Division title. There's really no current evidence right now to prove that Miller is worthy of a Saturday start, so keeping him out of your starting lineup is the smart choice.
